Struggling with inconsistent driver shots? Jordan was missing left, right, and hitting hooks with no consistency. The root cause? His hips weren’t pivoting correctly during the swing. In this lesson, we made one simple but powerful change to how Jordan uses his hips, unlocking more consistency, better control, and straighter drives.

Jordan was hitting his driver really bad. He was struggling hitting it left, hitting it right, slicing it, hooking it. He just had no consistency. And the problem, he wasn’t actually pivoting his hips properly in his back swing. And with one simple change, the difference in his golf swing was incredible. And I know that you guys could be struggling with this as well. Yes. And that’s the miss that you have when you That’s the miss I normally have. It’s like short, low, and left. That’s the other miss. high and right and low and left. All right, Jordan, let’s have a look at what’s going on here. So, look, we know that obviously we’ve got this big hook. Every now and then we popping up in the air as well. So, let’s just show you why this is happening. So, basically, if we have a look at this from the down the line view, we can see this red line I’ve drawn in here. This is the swing plane. Okay, I think you’ve got some awareness on what this is, but let’s just show you what your club does relative to that swing plane. You can see it’s a long way underneath. Yeah. On the way back, and on the way down, it’s a long way underneath. as well. So you’re very much underneath the plane. When we look at the full swing, we’re seeing numbers of six, seven degrees of the club path going out to the right. Okay? So if we think about it, if we have a path which is going out to the right a lot, if the face gets somewhat close to that, we’ll hit some nice draws. If it gets too close to that, it’s going to be a big hook. But one thing I want to draw our attention to is yes, we we know that we’re under the plane, but where is our aim at this point here? And if you have a look at this here now, we’re aiming at this hut that we can see down the bottom. you’re aiming quite a bit to the right of it. So, if we think about it, if you’re aiming to the right a lot, it’s going to encourage a path to go to more go more to the right. Yeah. But here’s the thing. It’s kind of like a chicken and the egg situation, we often find that golfers who hook the golf ball, they’ll aim to the right to allow for it because in your mind, you’re going, it’s probably going to go left. So, what I’m going to do first of all, I’m ask behind you and have a look where that’s gone. So, you can see that at best you’re aiming right edge. Oh my god. of the red canopy. I never knew that. Makes sense. So, what we’re going to do first of all, we’re just going to see what actually happens when we square you up and see what happens to the shots. Cuz my instinct is telling me you’re still probably going to hook it. Yeah. And there’s still going to be something there. But let’s have a look at that. I’m just going to ask you, first of all, without the aid of an alignment stick, just aim left. Aim 10 yards left of the of the hut still. It’s better. It’s still a little bit to the right, though. Oh my god. So, aim 15 yards left. Aim a little further left. Okay, that’s pretty good. It feels It definitely feels like I’m aimed at the left corner of the range. A little high on the face, but dead straight. Dead straight. 2.2 right. Well, that’s pretty good. So, two, if it’s two degrees to the right, then we’d be quite happy with that. Okay, let’s keep going. In terms of off the center line. Yes. Oh, yeah. Trying to be zero degrees all the time, by the way, that’s that’s Don’t strive for that, please, cuz you’re going to be uh driving yourself crazy. I think the interesting thing for Jordan is Jordan only really plays once a week. He’s only been playing really for about a year now, back since playing since a kid. Yeah. And it’s like all you’ve got to do the best fix for Jordan is play more golf because the swing is actually really my arm. Oh yeah. Well, put it call her right now. Okay. So again on this one same sensation. Okay. I like it. Good to go. And a little high. Great flight though. It’s still really good. I mean it’s going a long way to be fair. Look it’s still in the air. Yeah. It carried 260. Wow. 1.6° to the right. So that just means now now that we’ve aimed you square that the path is now ever so slightly to the right. Yeah. Which is okay. Which is really good. Which is really good. Oh, so good. I’ll take that. And that’s like phenomenal. 2.5 left. I mean it’s the first path that you’ve really hit left and the ball shaped the opposite direction there. 264 carry still. Oh wa. If we look at this here, club path now by Amy Squareer. It’s It’s actually really nice. It’s really tidy. So, it’s it’s you’ve got it a real, you know, two degrees to the right pretty much on average now. Y is really good. So, what I want to do now is I want to get your body moving a little bit better. Show you how we’re going to move your body better. Because if we look at this here, obviously we’re aiming square now. We can see relative to that hut. That looks really nice. Really tidy. Club on the way back quite a bit underneath the plane still as we saw, but we know the club path numbers are around about two two degrees to the right. So, we’re okay with being under the plane. Yeah. At this stage, yes. club on the way down. You can see relative to the plane, club head is underneath. Y okay, but not massively. Nowhere near like it was before. Yep. Okay. So, this is this this is definitely looking tidier. Now, one thing I want to show you here in the back swing, we mentioned the body and getting the body to move better. Now, it’s okay to sway off the ball somewhat to start with in the golf swing. And you can see you’ve done that by moving through that red line. So, you have swayed through that line. It’s probably more than I would like, but what I would want to see is by the time you’re getting up to the top of your back swing that you’d actually be doing what we call reentering, which is getting back towards that red line. Now, you’re not doing that. Okay? So, what’s happening is you’re swaying off the ball as you swing back. And as a result of that, and it’s hard to see in here, by the way, it’s worse with your irons as well. You actually get your spine and you lean toward the target, which is going to be really bad for your back in the future if you’re not careful. So that’s why I asked before about do you have any aches and pains or anything like that. So but ultimately at this stage here we’re still not loading up the right side as we best we could. And then as we swing down now you can see that your upper body is lunging a lot towards the target cuz yes absolutely but that lunging towards the target is definitely going to cause this pop um on the shot as well. So yeah. So what we’re seeing is Jordan that straight away you’re moving away from the golf ball, swaying through that back swing line. And then from here now as you swing down you’re kind of moving this way. So the whole body’s moving this way. And then as a result, the body isn’t really able to rotate much through the golf ball. So we’re just we’re just left to this sort of move here where the face can really release quickly as the body isn’t really rotating a lot. Does that make sense? Makes ton. So it’s kind of like you’re going like this and why I have to be Why I’m I can see how I’m leaned over. Yeah. Yeah. Let’s get you the sensation now of turning of turning more. So, we’re going to give you a little drill which can help you with this. So, I’m just going to pop this through your belt loops. So, swing back for me. So, that would probably be around about 35 to 40. Yeah. If we can get it around about that 45, then I’d be quite happy at this stage here. Okay, good. But maybe we could we we could get that wrong every now and then. So, what I’m going to do, give you a drill called the matchup. Okay. So, we’re going to get an alignment stick on the ground. This is pretty much going at 90 degrees to our target line. This one on the ground is. And what we’re going to do, you notice on the inside of the right heel. Yep. From here, I’m going to get the club across the shoulders and I want to get or the alignment stick and I want to get that alignment stick over the one on the ground. If I sway, it’s very difficult for me to get there. Yeah. So, what I need to be able to do is I need to be able to load the pressure into that right leg the correct way, which is by adding a little bit of rotation, but also shifting it over. That’s a good like that one. Yeah. Let’s have a go that. What a difference. Yeah. Okay. Versus that. Yes. That’s Well, here’s here’s what you would do. Exaggerate it. Do that again. So, in your posture. So, just you stay there in your posture. As your hips bump this way, your spine wants to sort of reverse the other way. Ah, and that’s that’s when we start lunging this way on the way down. But if you load if you load it now, your spine actually is in a much better place this way, leaning away. So you can then move and start with the lower body. Do you know what? It’s interesting that the the hip twister drill I gave you before was okay. Yeah, this is like looks brilliant. This looks like it’s worked. It’s fitted you really well. Okay, let’s do it now with a golf club. All I want you to feel when you do this is again this left shoulder is going to be over the stick because that means that we’ve obviously got the two sticks matched up. Yeah. Very nice. Very nice. And just do me one of those back swings again, but this time don’t stop. So back and through. Okay. And again. That’s really nice. So what I’m looking for is your ability to get that left shoulder over the right leg. Brilliant to not sway. Hips were great there. Really good. Should we have a go hitting one? Really nice. So good. That was a That was really good in terms of the movement on the way back there. It felt really smooth. Yeah. Oh, you guys. Look at that. Oh, look at that. Yeah, I’ve got it. I’ve got it. I’ve got it. Beautiful pitched on the green. Yeah. 265 carry draw. That was nice. That 1.9 to the right as well. Really good. So good. Very good machine. Now this is the exact same spot. I mean, jeez. 2.1 degrees to the right. Path 0.5. You’re now under control, sir. Wow. So good. That’s crushed. It’s unbelievable. This is an amazing improvement. If we look at this, look, look at the back swing. Yeah, that’s how much you were swaying before. Probably four to 5 in of sway. When we look at this one here now, boom. Absolutely mind-blowing difference really because, and this is just by doing that back so straight, too. Yeah, absolutely. Not putting pressure on the lower back from here. As a result, now you’ve now got a chance to move. You’ve now got a chance to square the face up more consistently. Awesome, man. This is great. Jordan did absolutely fantastic. That was awesome, man. 1. I see so much of what I do with his swing. Great analysis and instruction guys! The alignment sticks will be getting better use with me!

  2. Sorting my turn out has let me hit strait drives. I was scared to turn before and wouldn’t complete by back swing Now I do and it has been a game changer for me

  3. Drives me nuts that these guys get so much done in one lesson but local “pros” slow play the crap out of results over like 5-10 lesson “plan”
