JD Vance has become an internet sensation after footage emerged of him four-putting at Donald Trump’s golf course in Turnberry, Scotland.
Trump is a passionate golfer and has dedicated around 20 percent of his second term to the course. Vance chose to play at Trump’s facility during a U.K. vacation, coming shortly after the U.S. President visited Scotland and faced allegations of cheating while playing at his Turnberry resort.
Vance was captured on video battling with his putting during the round, with one clip revealing him requiring four attempts after reaching the green. Most golfers target a maximum of two putts, making four strokes a catastrophe.

Trump is regularly spotted on golf courses, and his talents have earned acclaim from icons like Jack Nicklaus. Vance’s golfing prowess isn’t as well-documented, but his disastrous four-putt certainly didn’t enhance his reputation.
“Oh man, I can’t vote for him now,” one supporter joked on X, as Vance has been speculated to seek the presidency when Trump’s second term concludes in 2028. “Well, he’s not a golfer like Trump,” another commented.
“Lol, he’s trash,” one fan posted. Nevertheless, Vance also garnered considerable backing as fellow golfers empathized with his disastrous performance on the green.

“I finally feel represented in politics,” one supporter joked. “I’ve never related to a Vice President more,” another commented.
“Four-putt with a gimme, truly a man of the people,” one fan declared. While Vance didn’t demonstrate his abilities, golfing legend Nicklaus indicated that Trump ranks among the top celebrity players he’s encountered.
Nicklaus has played alongside multiple former presidents, but Trump distinguishes himself from the rest.
“Well, the ones I’ve played with, actually, Trump is probably the best player,” Nicklaus told Bloomberg. “Trump plays pretty well. He plays a little bit like I do.
“He doesn’t really ever finish many holes. But he can hit the ball, and he goes out and plays and just enjoys it. But he’s won several club championships. He can play.”
Nicklaus then remembered his rounds with past presidents Gerald Ford and Bill Clinton. “Gerald Ford, I must have played 50 rounds with Ford,” Nicklaus added.
“I used to play with him at the AT&T [Pebble Beach Pro-Am] every year. And Ford was a 13 handicap, but he played to a 13 handicap. Clinton, I never knew what Clinton might do. He might play to a 10 or he might play to a 30. But he had a nice golf swing.
“All these guys enjoyed playing golf. I don’t think any one of them really were very serious about the game. But they all enjoyed playing, and it’s good for the game of golf to have the president of the United States say, you know, this is my game.”
