‘Thank you to whoever got my clubs and returned them to the police following this story’
It’s a happy ending to the bizarre golf club theft story that we shared with you earlier this week.
Scott Hunter had his golf clubs stolen from his driveway while unloading his car after a golf trip last Sunday.
The elusive thief took Hunter’s clubs, speaker and two sets of golf shoes, which were returned to him on Thursday afternoon.
Hunter told BayToday the clubs were purchased online by a local buyer who was cleaning his new clubs when he realized his used golf clubs purchase fit the description of the stolen set taken from Hunter’s Whitney Avenue home.
That individual then called the North Bay Police Service.
“Someone found my clubs,” Hunter exclaimed on social media.
“Thank you to whoever got my clubs and returned them to the police following this story. From there, we were able to retrieve almost everything that was taken.”
The police completed an investigation, and no charges were laid. Police officials say the person who took the clubs claims he thought they were free clubs left at the bottom of the Whitney Avenue driveway.

Last Sunday afternoon, Hunter was unloading his vehicle from a golf trip with friends.
He took a bag inside, but for what he estimates was less than three minutes, he left his golf clubs unattended on the driveway near his vehicle.
When he went back outside, the bag, along with his golf shoes, had disappeared.
On Monday, Hunter called around to multiple second-hand stores in town and kept a close eye on Facebook Marketplace.
Hunter’s brother Ryan, who plays on the Toronto Argonauts, also shared information about Scott’s missing golf equipment on his social media platforms.
North Bay Police say residents should be very cautious about leaving possessions unattended outside, even if it is for just three minutes.
