After being asked about the Ryder Cup, the 29-year-old hit back: “I mean, I love answering all these questions about the Ryder Cup guys but this is ridiculous.

“We’re at the BMW Championship. The Ryder Cup is over a month away.

“If you want to talk about this week, let’s talk about this week. If not, I’ve got practice to do. I’m getting ready for a golf tournament.”

Scheffler is fresh from finishing tied-third at last week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Justin Rose claimed victory at the opening FedEx Cup play-off event after beating J.J. Spaun in a play-off.

The top 50 players in the FedEx Cup rankings have progressed to the BMW Championship.
