Stewart Cink had an incredible bogey-free round, shooting an impressive 8-under-par 64 on Saturday. He moved up significantly, taking a three-shot lead going into the final round. Cink’s momentum shifted with a crucial putt on hole 6, and he went on to make birdies on holes 7, 8, 12, 14, 15, 16, and 18. He saved par on hole 17 with a great recovery shot. Other contenders, like Steven Alker and Paul Goydos, are tied for second, while Jerry Kelly and Matt Gogel are tied for fourth. The Boeing Classic is an exciting tournament, and Cink’s performance has everyone talking. Don’t miss out on the action!
Stuart Sink is on fire, taking a commanding three-stroke lead at the Boeing Classic in Snwami, Washington. On Saturday, the 52-year-old golfer delivered a flawless performance, scoring an impressive eight underpass 64, a score that catapulted him 10 spots from his position on Friday. with a series of birdies at holes six, 7, 8, 12, 14, 15, 16, and 18. Sink is now 12 under for the tournament at the club at Snwami Ridge. But here’s where it gets interesting. Sink admitted that his round was far from predictable. If you had asked me after the fifth hole what the chances were of shooting a 64, I would have laughed, he shared with a chuckle. I was struggling to find any rhythm. I even made a somewhat clumsy par on the first hole, which is usually an easy par five. But then everything changed with one crucial putt on the sixth hole. A 15 ft putt dropped right in the center and it was like the floodgates opened. Sink’s resilience was particularly evident on the 17th hole, a par three where his T-shot landed about 80 ft from the pin. Despite the challenge, he managed to get his second shot within 5 ft, securing a par. That was a huge moment for me, Sink explained. It’s easy to lose focus and let a bad shot affect your game, but staying calm and making that putt was key to maintaining my momentum, and this is the part most people miss. While Sink is leading the pack, the competition is fierce. Steven Alka of New Zealand and Paul Goyidos are tied for second place at 9 under 135. Alka, who shot a 4under 68 on Saturday, acknowledged that he needs to improve his performance on the par fives to catch up. I played the par fives poorly today and that cost me. I need to turn that around tomorrow, he said. Alka had a solid round with birdies at holes 5, 6, 12, 14, and 17, but a bogey on the par five 18th hole dampened his spirits. It’s a bit disappointing to finish with a bogey, but I’m still in a good position. I like the course and I feel confident going into the final round. First round co-leaders Jerry Kelly and Matt Gole both scored a 71, moving to eight under and tying for fourth place with Australian Steve Allen, who shot a 68. Kelly, 58, is aiming to win the Boeing Classic for the second time. He won his first PGA Tour Champions title here in 2017 and is now seeking his 14th overall victory. This course has been good to me in the past, and I’m hoping to make the most of it again, Kelly said. Two-time defending champion Steven Ames of Canada is currently tied for 19th at four under after two consecutive rounds of 70. So, what do you think? Will Sink hold on to his lead or will the pressure get to him? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
