BLAIRSVILLE — Altoona split with River Valley and Northern Cambria in a high school girls golf match Wednesday, topping the Lady Colts, 147-173, but losing to the Lady Panthers, 141-147.

Altoona’s Ellie Filer was the medalist with a 40 in the nine-hole match. Northern Cambria’s Ava Paronish led the Lady Colts with a 54, and Madigan Dunlap’s 43 was best for River Valley.

RIVER VALLEY (141): Mad. Dunlap 43, Lamantia 48, Mar. Dunlap 50

ALTOONA (147): Filer 40, Baker 53, McGhee 54.

NORTHERN CAMBRIA (173): Paronish 54, Sheredy 59, Neff 60.

Portage defeated

DAYTON — West Shamokin and two-time defending District 6 Class 2A champion Alex Talmadge defeated Portage, 209-303, at White Oak Golf Course in a high school match on Wednesday.

Talmadge was the medalist with a 37 in the nine-hole match.

Britton Myher carded Portage’s best score — a 56.

WEST SHAMOKIN (209): Talmadge 37, Blews 40, Julius 44, Buffone 44, Camahan 44.

PORTAGE (303): Myher 56, Gentile 60, Gabel 62, Pauley 63, Bednarski 68.

Records: Portage (0-2); West Shamokin (2-0).

Lady Tigers win

The Hollidaysburg Area High School girls golf team recently won the Bishop Guilfoyle/Park Hills Invitational for the third year in a row.

The Lady Tigers finished with a team score of 60 strokes (-10) using a scramble format. Par was 70 for the event.

Team members included Crosby Denis, Maliah Malausky, Lucy Carles and Laila Panaro.

They defeated other girls teams from Altoona, Central Cambria, Penn Cambria, Westmont Hilltop and River Valley.

BG boys triumph

On the boys side of the Bishop Guilfoyle/Park Hills Invitational, Bishop Guilfoyle Academy was nine shots better than runner-up Richland with a score of 328 to win the championship. The boys section was played on stroke play.

Grant Okonak shot an 80 to lead BG. Aiden Sheehan and Carter Boland each shot an 81, and Troy Nachtman carded an 86.

Hollidaysburg’s Sam McLanahan also shot an 81.

Central High School graduate Paxton Kling played his first game in the Texas Rangers Minor League Baseball system …
