The top 50 after the FedEx St Jude Championship now move on to Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland, for the BMW Championship.

Upon the conclusion of this event in Maryland, the final 30 head to East Lake in Atlanta for the season-ending TOUR Championship.

Just note that Sepp Straker has withdrawn from the BMW tournament, meaning a final field of 49 players will tee off on Thursday 14th August.

PLAYERS TO FOLLOW IN THE BMW CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF  Ludvig Aberg (20/1)

The 25-year-old Swede finished T-9 last week, showing plenty of decent play from tee to green and he has performed consistently in golf’s majors this calendar year.

It was only his second top ten result finish in his last ten tournaments, but significantly it was his second top ten finish from his last three events.

Currently ranked 9th in the Ryder Cup rankings for Europe, Ludvig Aberg looks like he is just bubbling under the surface once more, and I’m expecting a big weekend from him.

Cameron Young (22/1)

Cameron Young secured the first victory of his PGA Tour career with a dominant six-shot drubbing of the field in the Wyndham Championship just a couple of weeks ago.

He followed up that breakthrough victory with fifth place at St. Jude, proving that the New Yorker is clearly on a roll.

The Ryder Cup hopeful has been ranking either 1st or 2nd off the tee in his last two tournaments, and appears to be a podium shoo-in at the very least this week.

Chris Gotterup (35/1)

Gotterup was somewhat disappointing by recent standards in the St. Jude Championship, but this course will be better suited to his game than TPC Southwind and I am willing to give him another each-way shout here at a big starting price in our golf betting.

Gotterup can be excused a blip, given his meteoric rise to fame and through the rankings in the last few months.

Given that he currently ranks second for driving distance, he should never be the starting price that he is.

Kurt Kitayama (40/1)

After sinking a 38-foot birdie putt at 18 last week, Kitayama went straight into my notebook for the BMW.

In last week’s St Jude, Kitayama closed with seven-under 63, including an eagle at the 15th.

That final hole birdie lifted Katayama to No. 37 in the FedEx standings, and given that he was only in 103rd place before winning the 3M Open in July, there appears to be an air of inevitability about him having yet another wonderful tournament, and surpassing all expectations for the season.

The 32-year-old Californian is well worth a second look in our sports betting when placing your “to finish in the top five” bets.

Suggested Bet: Cameron Young @ 22/1 E/W
