Yo, this is crazy. I’m standing on the seventh T box at Pebble Beach and I’m in my garage. Check this out. 92 yards to the pin. Hole in one one time. Do it. Suck back. [Laughter] I mean, not being a video game guy and definitely not being a VR guy, you are stepping into a new world. Basically, everything that I can see in a 360° view is what I imagine it looks like standing on the green at Pebble Beach. Let’s knock in this birdie. How crazy is that? So, if you guys haven’t realized already, we are playing a VR game called Golf Plus. This package allows you to play courses like Pebble Beach, like Pinehurst, and like TPC Sawrass. So, let me show you around this because this thing is crazy. Now that we’ve played seven, let’s go on to eight and I can show you a full hole here. So, you are playing real golf. If I want to change my club selection, I can hit driver here. So, this is kind of showing us what the hole looks like. this legend out here. You know, I’ve never played the course before, so I’m not really sure what my angles are. And I can down club until where you can probably see this line here. That’s showing how far these clubs go. So, it looks like I only want like a mid iron to hit an approach here. Okay, so let’s hit that and try to make another birdie. See if we can go back to back birdies. So far in playing this, this is actually pretty crazy. Like right now, I’m floating above the fairway. I can see the entire Pacific Ocean. I can see the course. I can see the crazy houses. Like, these things are supposed to be mapped to 100% of what the actual course looks like. How crazy is that? My Caddie is going to auto select my club for me. I can hit this shot over the ocean onto the green. Like, look at that shot tracer. That’s actually so cool. There’s like an audio headset. Get in the hole. Let’s go. Okay. Obviously, I don’t hit it that good. So, there is a little bit of video gameness, like I’m not hitting super tight birdies every time. I’ve played it a couple times, so I’ve actually gotten to know how to swing, become a bit more familiar, but you can definitely hit these into the water. Let me show you maybe some not so great shots. So, this game, as you guys can see, I have one controller in my hand. This is the controller that comes with the Meta headset. And when I look down, all I see is this driver. I don’t physically see my hands, as you guys can see, but this controller is my driver. So, can you hit it in the ocean if you hit a big slice? Absolutely. See you. There goes a Prov. That’s seven bucks into the Pacific Ocean. So, my ball went OB. What are we going to do here? Let’s play from our last shot. So, we’re going to rete it. You know, who doesn’t want a uh a breakfast ball at Pebble Beach. I love that as I’m playing, I can hear the ocean in the background. Like, I hear the waves crashing right beside me, which is just the coolest thing ever. There we go. There’s the fairway. The reality is most of us probably won’t afford our dream golf trip to play Pebble or any of these crazy courses, but the fact that I can come in my garage and for 40 bucks I can slap these on and experience Pebble Beach, it’s really crazy that that’s kind of the reality that we’re now living in. This is so cool. Here’s how much everything really costs. You’ll need some type of VR headset. You can get a VR headset from anywhere from like 2 to 500 bucks. So, this one I think is the MetaQuest 3. The golf plus game is about 30 bucks and then to unlock all the courses is $10 a month or 80 bucks for the year. Something else I did pick up is I picked up two golf club attachments. So, if you really want to have the full golf experience, there’s a bunch of different club attachments you can pick up. I have one that’s much shorter. It’s really just a grip and then the remote goes in at the end. And then the remote, if you want a longer one, would go in the end of this. When I first started playing the game, I started using the club attachments. I thought that’s what I would like best, but I just wasn’t hitting it very good. I went through the club customization on the range. I was altering my club face, making the club longer and shorter, and for whatever reason, I just couldn’t really hit it straight. Then I tried playing the game just using the handheld remote, and I actually preferred that experience better. So, don’t think you need a club to still have fun and enjoy the game. I actually had a lot of fun just using the remote itself. to buy one of these. These things range from like 30 to 100 bucks and they’re really easy to set up once you get in the game. The reason why I prefer the game play with just the remote is because once you’re in the game, you have to press the buttons. You got to press the B button, A button, the home screen, the joystick, the trigger, the other trigger. Like there’s a lot of buttons you do actually have to press. And I just found, you know, when you have your headset on, you can’t see your hands, right? unless I step out of the hitting zone where when I’m playing the game with just a remote, it’s so much easier to drive more or less or use the controls in the gameplay. And that’s just my own personal preference. Okay, I’m going to bring you guys back just to the driving range if you decide to pick this up because this is basically where you want to start. I don’t even know where I’m facing because of the headset. I’m one of those people that I hate reading instructions. I just want to pick something up and figure it out and get going. Like, I’m the guy that would buy something from IKEA and not look at the instructions and just try to put it together. I’ll probably put it together wrong, but at least I’m putting it together. In the case of playing the golf plus, you definitely want to go through kind of the basics. There’s tutorials that will show you how to do things. When I first started, I was slicing the ball crazy. Like, I couldn’t keep it in play. Then I did the tutorial and wow, how surprised would I be if I started hitting it straight after the tutorial. So, you would definitely start there. But, let me just show you what this driving range looks like. Look at this. How crazy is this? Here’s just like this cool, chill mansion. You’re kind of in these dune hills. Like, how cool is this? This is the driving range. This is where you start hanging out. One of my favorite features is you could actually turn music on. So, it already has music preloaded. You don’t listen to the hits, rock, classic rock. For copyright purposes, I’m not going to hit any of these, but normally I’m listening to tunes if I decide to come on to the range. So, now I’m on the range. I got my driver. I can just start kind of warming up and seeing where the ball’s going. little low drive. Once I’m kind of all done warming up on the range, I can then go into single player, which is where I was. Look at all these courses. So, I have unlocked all the courses with that $10 a month or $80 for the year to get all of these courses. And these are real PGA Tour quality courses. Beth Page Black, Piner number two, Pebble Beach, and they also have kind of cool courses that they’ve made themselves that are more of the like video game style courses. Since I’m kind of more of a traditionalist, you know, I would way rather play St. Andrews than some of the courses that uh they have built. TBC Scottsdale. You want to experience 16 green the par 3. Like how cool is that? Let’s go to Srass. It’s actually pretty crazy that just 2 minutes ago I was playing Pebble Beach 7 on the west coast and now here I am at TPC 17 on the east coast in just a matter of seconds. Like it’s actually super super surreal. And this is what I imagine it would be like standing in the middle of a PGA Tour event playing the players. Moment of truth is, can you hit the green? We got to change the club, obviously. Probably want to go past the pin on this shot. Let’s give it a chance here. How about a hole in one in front of everyone at TPC Sawrass? Do it. Did that go in, man? See what I mean? It makes you feel pretty good about your uh feel pretty good about your golf game. Like I said, I am playing on the easy settings, and who wouldn’t want to pretend that they’re, you know, Scotty Shuffler, Rory Mroy, winning the players. So, I’m standing on the green at 17. This is just like it it’s hard to believe that I’m in my garage right now. Like, how cool is this? The graphics themselves aren’t like the best. But, if this is kind of just the start of VR golf, I can imagine in a couple years, a couple updates, it’s going to look even more realistic. Like, I think it it can only go up from here. I can see the contours in the green. The green changes color, which is how greens would normally change depending on the way the grain is going. I can see the sand, the water. Like, this is so cool. Let’s tap this guy in for a bird. Like, how cool is that? It’s going to show me a leaderboard of all the people that have gotten hole-in- ones. Like, this is just so crazy. Let me show you what else this app can do. Hey, Brian, can you What are you doing? playing TPC Sawrass in the garage. Yeah. You want to try? Kind of. Okay. Come here. This will actually be cool because I think it’d be fun to get your perspective on what it’s like to play this game. Okay. Come try this on. Okay. So, you just have to give us your feedback. I’ll ask you kind of what you see, but yeah, just try it on. Oh, crazy. Okay. So, I’m just going to kind of move you. Okay. Oh, okay. So, stand here. I’m just going to recenter you. Okay. Okay. So, this is obviously your club. Okay. And you would just take it back like you would a normal club. You got to try to hit the ball. That is crazy. Like a full swing. Like Yeah. Take like a normal swing. Try to hit the ball. Okay. Do I don’t have to press any buttons? No, you just pull back. I missed the ball. Oh, try again. Okay. I find like you don’t have to swing too hard. Miss the ball again. Okay. Well, there you go. Oh, I took a giant divot. So, if you hit the trigger, it’ll show the ball closer. Oh. Oh my gosh. I’m like 3 ft. How do I know how far I am? Holy moly. Hey, must be a birdie. Minus the two widths. Does it feel realistic? Um, yeah. What do you think of the graphics? It’s super cool. Like you feel like it’s actually really cool. You feel like you’re there. That’s why I’m like I can’t stop looking around cuz it’s super cool. Do I new hole? Yeah, sure. Try a new hole. Okay. From a comfort level of them being on your face, like does it do they feel weird? No, I think it just takes a second to get them like in the right spot, but yeah. No, it feels cool. Super cool. I can’t stop looking around. Okay. Okay. Nice wing. I keep thinking you can see it, but you can’t. It’s just me. I can. Is it easy to use so far? Super easy. Like Oh, yeah. Like that just feels like a normal golf swing for sure. And it’s making me feel like I’m really good at golf. It’s on the easy settings. Okay. Yeah, that makes sense. Like, look at me. I’m really good. I can stand past her. Yeah, it must be on very easy setting. Okay. Thoughts on VR golf? Yeah, I think the best part is just like the graphics and feeling like that’s really cool. Yeah, like you look around and you’re just like, whoa. It doesn’t feel like you’re playing a video game. Even though you are like I don’t like video games, so that Yeah. But you could see yourself playing I can see myself playing this. This is fun. That’s pretty cool. So, here’s kind of the video game aspect of it. Like, here’s my avatar. Here’s my bag. Once you get in here, you can earn coins and rewards. And right now, I have Callaway clubs, but I can change my head covers and my bags. Like, I’ve just started customizing my guy. This guy kind of looks like me. I mean, a hoodie with a hat backwards. Like, that’s me 95% of the time. My absolute favorite feature inside of here is this multiplayer. This is where you can play with other people that have the game, and you can play with your buddies all over the world. So you could play Pebble or Pinehurst with your friends if you don’t live in the same city. Like this is so cool. So we’re setting up this game at Pinehurst and we’re basically just waiting for people to jump into the game. And what’s cool about this is we’re on the first hole of Pinehurst and I can practice until the game fills up. So I get a bunch of practice attempts at this hole until people join this game, which is kind of cool. What’s up, guys? What’s up? Thanks for joining the game. Yep. Look, I feel like I could catch this ball coming down the middle of the fairway. That’s so cool. So, I got to wait till everyone hits their balls into the fairway. But, like, let’s say that these are my buddies. We live all across the globe. We don’t live in the same city, but you can actually play around a golf with each other. And it’s like normal golf. Furthest from the hole goes first until everyone’s in the hole. And we’re playing Pinehurst 2 from my garage. Where are you guys from? Sure. I was muted. Uh, Indiana. Indiana Pacers fan. So, I can only see the game if I’m inside of that circle. If I walk over here to my computer, you can’t see me. If I walk all the way to my screen, can’t see me. Even though it doesn’t look like I can see through this, there’s cameras pointing out that I’m watching a live feed of my garage. But as soon as I step back in this circle, boom, we’re back in the game. That’s going to be pretty cool to see the screen recording. That’s pretty sweet. I want to just look around the main menu really quick. So, as you play, you unlock or you get coins or points. I’m not even sure what they’re called. You got quick play, single player, multiplayer, practice, and then it’s also integrated with Topgolf, which is pretty cool. Let’s go into my bag and see if I can start customizing some stuff. Oh, visit the store. Let’s see if we can buy a new club. What do they have here? Okay, so these clubs obviously cost money. Sub70, Vice, Golfs, SSC, not familiar with them. Srixon, can’t afford it. Callaway. I can afford a new Tailor Made Stealth 2. Don’t have the new stuff yet. They’re a couple years behind. Oh, no. They have the Elite. I don’t know why the Tailor-Made Stealth 2 is the newest driver. Stealth Plus. I had one of those. This was my old driver right here. The Stealth Plus. You know what? This bag is driving me nuts. The fact that I have this lame gray bag. So, let’s buy a new bag here. I mean, I don’t want to blow my wad, so to speak, on getting rid of all of my coins, but I feel like we need a new bag. I got a purple bag in my studio. So, why don’t we pick up this guy? Buy it now. Click and hold. [Music] Cool. Let’s equip it. And just like that, I got this brand new purple bag matching my purple bag in the in the studio. That’s pretty cool. I mean, I did that on the whim. I’m sure that there’s cooler bags in here, but just cuz I saw purple and I know I got a purple bag in here, I think that’s pretty cool. What else can we upgrade? How about our head covers? Oh. Oh, Happy Gilmore just came out. They got a Happy Gilmore set. I mean, I feel like this Happy Gilmore is going to be pretty limited. I got the Blade Potter. We got to get the Happy Gilmore Potter cover. And just like that. So now, anytime I go play multiplayer or I play with my buddies, they’re going to see my bag with my sick Happy Gilmore putter cover. There’s other things I haven’t even played in here yet. Like I haven’t played mini games, challenges. Why don’t we see what a challenge looks like? I bet you that’s how you earn more coins. You have one shot to get your ball inside the target. Okay, well let’s try that. There we go. I think a lot of people would be wondering like, will this improve my golf game? To that I would say, where am I looking? To that I would say no. I would say it’s still a video game, but it’s you still go through the same motions, the same movements. I wouldn’t say that this replaces a golf simulator, but obviously if you can’t put a golf simulator in your home, this is probably the next best way to experience golf, I would say. Oh, remember we played live earlier? That Trey guy sent me a friend request. I don’t have any friends on here, so Trey, you can be my first friend. So guys, I’m I’m still learning about this game, but to be able to play the multiplayer and then play any course that I want is actually so crazy. If one of my buddies would have told me that they were playing VR golf, I would probably laugh in their face. Now that I’ve experienced it, I would totally be eating my words. Like, you really transport into a new world. And the fact that they’re mapped so precisely to the normal courses, it is actually like being there. So, you don’t got to pay for the flights, you don’t got to pay for the tea times, don’t got to be in a lottery to get tea times to still kind of experience.
