Team Wyoming had its good and bad moments during the 2025 Junior America’s Cup last month on the golf course. The Girls’ Junior America’s Cup was contested at the Kierland Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Boys’ Junior America’s Cup was at the Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Oregon. Wyoming finished at or near the bottom in both golf tournaments.
The girls played three rounds July 22 through 24. Wyoming finished in 18th place out of 18 teams. They shot 65-over-par for a team score of 713. Wyoming had rounds of 234, 241, and 238 over the three rounds. Kemmerer sophomore Tazlyn Wagner led the way individually. She tied for 39th place at 8-over-par. Wagner shot 74, 72, and 78. Sheridan grad Shelbi Gardner tied for 66th place. She shot 28-over-par. Buffalo’s Addison Bettinger and Evanston’s Madison Brown tied for 71st place at 36-over-par.
The boys played their three rounds July 29 through 31. The Cowboy State finished in 16th. They were 40-over-par as a team for a score of 679. Wyoming shot 227, 219, and 233 in the three competition rounds. Evanston grad Ryker Lind was the top placer in 30th. He shot 9-over-par with rounds of 75, 69, and 78. Campbell County senior Cade Peterson finished at 18-over-par and tied for 54th. Wheatland junior Tate Nichols was at 19-over-par and tied for 59th. Laramie senior Carson Moniz took 63rd place at 24-over-par.
Oregon will host the girls’ event next year, and Mexico gets to host the boys’ tournament in 2026.
The Wyoming High School golf season began on Wednesday with two events in the state.
