He Can Win a 400!

Pan Zhanle shook the swimming world at the Paris 2024 Olympics with a ๐Ÿคฏ 46.40 100 free World Record, splitting 22.28 and 24.12!

At the Incheon 2024 World Cup, the competition was strong with Duncan Scott ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง, Kieran Smith ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ, Danas Rapsys ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡น, and Kim Woo-min ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ท in the mix for the menโ€™s 400 freestyle. Although Zhanle has a great 400-m free long course time of 3:45, he has not competed in this internationally.

At the start, all five contenders were neck-and-neck at the 200m mark, clocking in at 1:47-point!

As the race progressed, Kim struggled to keep up, but Pan, who didnโ€™t lead initially, made an incredible comeback. His final 25m split of 12.31 seconds propelled him to victory, finishing in 3:36.43!

Scott managed to stay just ahead of Kieran Smith for second, with only .11 seconds separating them!

  1. Pan Zhanle was a distance swimmer before May 2021 and had won many medals in the 800m and 1500m. He started competing in the 1500m free from age 13. ๏ผˆ2017 Asian Age Group Championships ๏ผ‰. He still trains 15,000m per day to maintain his aerobic capacity.

    Actually, he got the Paris Olympic A-cut in the 400m free, but he had to compete in 4 relay events, so he gave up it.
