Kurt Kitayama is getting his 4-footers dialed in on the practice green using his TaylorMade Spider Tour X and his TaylorMade TP5x golf ball. This drill forces you to start the ball on line and thread the putter head through two tees and the ball through a smaller gate set of two tees ensuring that ball is rolled straight.

The Kurt Kitayama putting drill focuses on improving putting accuracy by ensuring the ball starts on the correct line. It involves using a series of tees to create gates that guide the putter head and the ball, promoting a square putter face at impact and a consistent start line.

Here’s a breakdown of the drill:

1. Tee Setup:
Two tees are placed on either side of the putter head, acting as a guide for the putter swing. Another set of tees is placed a little wider than the ball, creating a gate for the ball to roll through.

2. Swing Through the Putter Gate:
The golfer swings the putter through the first set of tees, focusing on a smooth, controlled stroke.

3. Roll Through the Ball Gate:
The golfer then aims to roll the ball through the second set of tees, which are slightly narrower, encouraging a square putter face and a straight start line.

4. Progression:
The drill can be progressed by creating a second, wider gate further down the line, forcing the golfer to maintain accuracy over a longer distance.

This drill helps golfers develop a feel for starting the ball on the intended line, which is crucial for consistent putting. By focusing on the ball’s initial direction, golfers can improve their overall putting performance.

  1. Just get better at the game my goodness , if you’ve got to go to this extreme just to play I feel like you shouldn’t be.

  2. I think if you need guide lines you need to sell your clubs and play the frisbee game with the panzies

  3. Well it’s probably used as a practice tool and also if this got incorporated into golf tee times need to be spread out to about 40 minutes each 😂😂😂

  4. The group behind me probably wouldn't be pumped watching me carry my toolbox onto every green.

  5. I think sometimes we over complicate things. This might be a good practice routine, but it's funny how everything changes when that putt is to win the match. It's a mental game as much as it is a physical game. I used to have the mental but I never had the physical.
