Kirkland V3 vs Taylormade TP5 – Is Costco’s NEW Golf Ball Actually THAT Good?
In this video, we test the brand new Kirkland Signature V3 golf ball and compare it side-by-side with one of the top premium balls on the market: the Taylormade TP5. This is a driver-focused test, where we break down ball speed, carry distance, total distance, and feel off the tee.
Can a budget golf ball from Costco really keep up with a tour-level ball that costs nearly triple the price? The results were shocking. The Kirkland V3 performed just as well as the TP5, holding its own in every major category.
We used a launch monitor to capture real numbers and provide data-backed results, so you can see exactly how both balls perform in real-world conditions.

one of the reasons we love the Kirkland ball is because it’s got great feel and control and it’s great value but if we’ve got one criticism in previous models it’s not been as long as a Prov V1 but my Golf Spy saying this ball is seven yards longer than a Pro V1 and we’ve got James Robinson with us today how are you we’ve done a review on your channel this ball haven’t we we have it’s been really good and I think I don’t think they’re saying like seven yards consistently overall but I think some of them have like kind of rocketed that far so fantastic if you’re looking for a cheap golf ball that works really well and like we said there’s lots of different options out there now isn’t there we have Vice we have Seed we have Kirkland so the big brands are probably a bit worried absolutely i mean these are netting to 14 pound a dozen we’ve just had a game on your channel i’m not going to give everything away guys that’s a loss another one another one but I’m not blaming the golf ball couple of shots there some nice shots in there as well let’s cut both these open guys and see how consistent they are but if you want to see how the ball played you know obviously we talked about flight didn’t we we talked about num you know feel yeah to be honest and like I really enjoyed the the usability of it and I’m now stuck with 24 of these balls and I don’t mind using them i don’t feel like I’m stuck with them they’re going to go in the garage like some balls that I have i think I’m just going to use them in my day-to-day until they’re gone and then maybe replenish them with something else or the same absolutely and I think one of the noticeable things for me is how pearly white this is you know some of these in the past could go a little bit dull but these are so pearly and shiny i don’t off this one so we actually cut it open as well to see and they were nice and consistent in the middle so can’t can argue with that too much but you’re going to talk some numbers about them aren’t you well I think we should put it headto-head you’ve got your TP5 we haven’t got Prov we’ve got TP5 which is a premium ball we’re going to put it headto-head with that off the tea just to see really if it compares distance-wise yeah because it were quite obvious when we tested the previous model it were about seven yards shorter yeah in studio and if this can at least just be level in distance i mean where why would you look behind even if it’s like 5 yards behind for the money surely it’s still good value i just don’t think it’s going to be though i don’t think it’s going to be i think it is what you think it’s going to be short i’m just just arguing for the sake of argument sake but I think this one might be you going to hit first so to be fair we’ve been hitting the driver pretty well today drivers being least of our problems but if we do any bad shots we’ll obviously take it out as an anomaly but I reckon I’m going to hit shall I hit three with Kirkland first or do the tailor made i’d do tailor made first and see what you can set we’ve done a couple of bits of driver testing today you were hitting it around kind of 270 weren’t you carry and I think the only way to make this a fair test is to just hit them hard just hit every shot hard yeah yeah as hard as you can i’ll try and just you know we’ll just have a look at what we get nice that’s your fade 2007 276 we did some numbers on this shaft didn’t we earlier today it’s exactly the same again it’s a good base Sarah isn’t it was that around 155 ball well actually 159 so obviously we’ve warmed up a a little bit that were fresh out car club around 110 uh yeah 107 so yeah we’ll keep an eye on that club speed make sure it’s consistent that’s one gone but what’s how far has it gone do you know what it’s not picked up because it’s not in the window it’s not in the fairway either sorry it’s all right we’ll discount that one yeah you lose my 4 TP5X perfect i’ll replace them with some Kirkland’s they’re mine as well nice 200 260 150 ball speed so a little bit down but again so the number to beat here is that 274 isn’t it yeah but club speed 105 so TP5 again or going to go Kirkland now just going to hit one more if I can and then we can probably We’ve got a good average then aren’t we 274 at best weren’t it yeah 260 were worse you’re just worried I’m going to lose this ball aren’t you uh I’m petrified to be totally honest nice that’s good 264 264 104 ball speed so we’ve had 104 to 107 club speed ball speed 152 so we’re averaging the mid50s aren’t we this is bang on for me you know them numbers are absolutely bang on the TP5 though you would expect them to be consistent some of the best balls in golf aren’t we i reckon if I hit this 260 to 274 carry we’re on the money aren’t we with that yeah I think so for for what we’ve what Sorry what I’ve paid for them have you got a Costco card guys i haven’t actually but you can can you get me as a mate oh that was good 200 267 106 ball speed 153 sorry 106 club speed 153 ball speed so ball speed’s there it’s there or thereabouts isn’t it and to be fair 167 I felt like I hit that a bit lower at face I didn’t I didn’t hit that 100% it looked nice but slot speed pocket mate it weren’t a flush one if we can get a flush Is that flush a bit cuty 272 ball speed 156 so it’s right there isn’t it it’s there isn’t it and obviously the guys at my golf spy do thousands and thousands and thousands of shots and that’s why I think they are personally the best in the game at it so it’s interesting to see how obviously not every golf is going to go and hit that number of shots but to to hit two in a row that are that good and then go again and you know I’m not knocking my golf sw i’m trying to keep my club speed at like 10 I mean 107 to 105 you know that sort of number so it’s consistent i want it to be as accurate as it can and uh I’m sure if I wanted to make it go seven yards further I could but I’d have to swing it go on then so I’m sending one after you after this let me just put another sort of nice swing nice solid hard swing on it nice that was solid 200 276 so it’s the same same 107 ball speed 150 i keep saying ball speed 157 ball speed 107 club speed so head-to-head with the TP5 for me there’s nothing in it shift no I do think there’s value for moneywise great that’s reassuring me because that’s the only criticism I had of the last ball is it weren’t as long as a Prov is that Kirkland yeah 270 though that’s not bad for me what’s that 1558 and end of the ball speed 154 it’s not spin at 3,000 so the spin’s a bit high the potential’s there it’s not like it’s lacking ball speed shot exactly same so the consistency factor is frightening to be fair tp5 right let’s go tp5 TP5 80 but 159 ball speed 110 if you hit that hard if you hit that 110 but it’s the spin as well the spin’s down in the 2,000s so like it makes a difference and I think like I said when I have tested it and we include this in my video as well on the Golfson i don’t see I don’t see that kind of big gain potentially with the Kirkland but I do see a fair comparison for the price i think a 280 versus a 270 is a fair comparison for the price for me that’s all I needed to see it’s gone longer than any of Gaza today as well so it’s perfect even though there have always been a good price on a budget at £14 when you feel like you’re sacrificing 7 yards I’m out but now that’s changed and I’m in i’m back in good you can go and buy some and replace all mine can we go this afternoon of course can yeah it’s me anniversary so no but guys if you enjoyed that video obviously first time of testing the new ball and it’s a surprise to me i weren’t expecting that and for me I found a new ball now for social golf and you know when I don’t get any nice freebies sent it’s going to be a gamer 100% they’re not a bad spread them are they either quite a See that further down you what see the big dogs drive further down big dog oh here we go he got one out at 280 didn’t he he had to get it in

v2 were amazing. v3 were awful.
I use TP5 balls and I love them, I got 2 Doz kirkland 3 balls after seeing a great review against the Pro v1 and I have to say they were fantastic value for money as there was only a few yds difference between them and the Tp5.
Forget the ball, it's all about the beard! The beard improves your game!!
Are these the v3 Kirkland or the v3.5 as the V3 marked up very easily I read that the v 3.5 were as durable as the old v2
What's the difference at 75 yards to the flag mate? Keep them coming.
how do you know if costco hs the new version? I bought some in the spring and they were the older version with the dark stripe/arrow. Is the box different?
Just a little mention. I am using the same launch monitor and I know for sure, spin is very very inaccurate. 200 RPM is far within the range. I once checked it with a Garmin R50 and spin numbers for 7iron for example can easily be 1000rpm or more off.
The Yorkshire Bros do it again. 🏌♂⛳🍺🏌🏆
I watch both lads youtubes but do think he trys harder with the big branded stuff you picked it straight up at end he hit 2 kirklands 270 bang on then hit a 280 with tp5 but club speed was 5mph more obviously trying his hardest to make the big brands look better when in fact with this ball there probably not any better
The fake lab putters are the best ones i watched nobody really can tell any difference so basically the same yet they all say the real ones better even though its 5x money more for same putter 😂
I found a Kirkland golf ball and I didn’t like it. It wasn’t soft like my TaylorMade Speed soft.
Always found the covers to develop what look like 1 or 2 pin pricks. Never seen that happen to any other ball, very strange.
Fantastic ball review Gaz with great numbers
Spin rates lads
Always found the kirky so spinny lads
"I'm in". "I found a new ball for social golf". Isn't that all you play social golf?
Nice review Gaz. Their main selling point, other, than price, has to be how much they spin 👍
Nice drop line to get free balls Gaz…love it 😉😉😉
😂 2 buddies just giving each other a razzing on the course. It's all about fun fellas. Great video, I knew those kirkland balls were every bit as good as premium priced balls of other manufacturers!
Wee James swinging out his socks…. Gas’s swing looks so relaxed and James looks as if he’s off balance almost everytime
Good video, but fire your barber Gary sorry
I heard version 2 was better overall than version 1, which spun up as much as a rubber range ball, as tested by the MyGolfSpy in Arizona, they check almost every golf brand, including DTC balls, maybe not all of them.
A few years ago, I hit my longest ever tee shot on one of the par 5's, no downhill run, no wind behind, using their V1, each to their own. The displacement was a big worry when checking the data from MyGolfSpy.
I hope that has improved with V3, but I have my doubts, because no matter what it costs, if it struggles to stay on line, when other balls do, its not as good for value. Adding shots to your handicap, because the balls go into the rough more, or more approach shots miss the green left or right, even when you know it was a really good strike. Best to check them out in the simulator, at least then, we can compare and contrast each of the balls before deciding if they really are good value, or just a good price.
Never really played other premium balls other than the odd pro v1 I find in the long grass! But started using Kirklands earlier this year and love them! Miles better than the cheap ones I used to use
Stop with these stupid videos about golf balls. If you play to get drunk with friends buy used or shit golf balls. If you are playing in your local course tournaments. Then buy premium ball. No one cares what your opinion of a kirkland crap balls are. Hate youtube algorithm.
I play them all…but I mostly use Kirkland…I am about a 12 handicap and I can say I don't really notice a difference. A couple yards on drives won't make or break my game.
James is so full of it. He’s a bad loser also, and loves to rub it in, and he gives me the impression he’s a tight sod.
Is that the 3.5 version of Kirkland? I saw another review where it was longer and spun a little more! Thanks guys
The idea is to drive the ball to your wedges and then stick, you need enough spin to stick it!
Hey Gary, spotted your new driver! Did you go for the Regular flex in the end? I’ve always thought that some budget balls are comparable to the premium ones. Srixon Qstar performs pretty much as well, but at just under half the price. Kirkland takes the savings to a new level. For aomeone with a high handicap like me, it could save me a fortune in balls over a season😇. Keep the content going, it’s always great.
They are total garbage
James misses putt: "I'm not blaming the ball… let's cut this open!" 😀 Great video. My Golf Spy is nice for research, but it's always good to see real people hit real shots to compare balls.
Ive had some great driving rounds with the Kirkland hitting some decent 260m drives with them great balls and cheap.
I'm pretty sure Mygolfspy said it was within one yard with the driver and seven yards short with a 7-iron.
Ah the Yorkshire lad, can you get me as a mate 😂.
