In case you haven’t heard, Taylor Swift dropped the news of her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast, “New Heights,” which he co-hosts alongside his brother, Travis, on Tuesday. The album news served as teaser footage for the podcast, which will be published in its entirety on Wednesday.
What does this have to do with golf? We’re getting there! The podcast teaser also launched in tandem with Travis Kelce’s cover story in GQ Magazine. Needless to say, on Tuesday morning, Taylor and Travis mania was in full effect, giving these releases maximum exposure and media attention. Now for the golf part: In addition to the GQ cover story, Kelce also appeared in an episode of GQ’s “My Essentials.” Spoiler alert: Kelce’s golf bag is one of them. In fact, it’s the first essential he mentions.

“I love to golf in my free time,” he says.
In addition to an adorable custom putter cover and cool Vessel bag, Kelce showed off his collection of bag tags, or as he calls them, “little trinkets.” But as he moved through the course names on some of bag tags, he dropped a bomb.
“Shoutout to Pinehurst [No.] 2,” he said. “I only got to see you for about eight holes, because I’m notoriously late everywhere I go.”
Wait, what? WHAT?!! Hang on a second. Travis Kelce went all the way to Pinehurst and didn’t even play the whole No. 2? What could possibly have delayed him to the extent that he missed his tee time by 10 holes? That’s like, two-plus hours!
Kelce delivered this dagger with a smile and a shrug. But as an interested viewer, this revelation demands more details. Pinehurst No. 2 is a bucket-list destination, one of the top-ranked courses in the world, and Kelce missed more than half of it because he is notoriously late? Say it ain’t so!
I, for one, am hoping there’s more to this story. I’ll ask him the first chance I get.
