Hi everybody. Welcome down to the channel. Gareth Shaw here, PJ Professional. And today I’m bringing you a golf grip. It’s completely different from anything else I’ve ever tested to be honest. The looks, the feel, the characteristics. When I first received these from Octo Grips, I was really impressed. the feel, the quality, absolutely brilliant. They do a wide range of grips, not only grips for your club, but also putter grips as well, which are kind of an oversized, really funky colors, really nice as well, which is great. They also have got some kind of personalized um grips as well that associate with your football team. They’re a Scottish brand, so they’ve gone down the Scottish Premier League route. And I hope I can show you in the camera here. So, just two of their grips here. They’ve got the Hernian and the Rangers badge on the top cap of the grip. Same then with the colorway down the actual grip and at the top, which is absolutely brilliant. Same with the hips with the green and the white. Look really good, really smart. They come in two different sizes. They are looking to bring out an oversized grip as well to help people because I think what these grips are going to do is if people are out there who’ve got maybe some difficulties with their hands, a little bit of arthritis, they get a bit of fatigue in their hands, these will be really good. And also people who don’t wear a glove, if you don’t wear a glove, these are really grippy. Really, really grippy. So, you’ve got the S1 here. It’s got the small indentations in. I like this one. This is my favorite. I usually play with a midsize grip, which I’ve got on my 7 iron at the moment. And if anything, that’s probably a little bit thick for me and a little bit harsher in the hands. Whereas, I love this S1 cuz it’s just got the little ridges on the front and then the indentations on the back as well there to help you your grip. Love the kind of alignment aids as well here for your grip. So, they got the markings down the side of the grip to help you your alignment. The only thing with these type of golf grips is you’ve got to get them spot on. So, make sure if you’re installing them yourself, get them on your workbench, get the club nice and set in the vice, and you can slide them on. I did notice with especially the midsize one, it needs quite a lot of fluid to kind of get onto the the golf um club itself. So, make sure you put plenty of fluid on. But with this S1, it seems a little bit more malleable, their kind of standard grip, whereas the M1 was a little bit harsher. But still went on fine. It just needed that little bit of extra force. I contacted the the kind of guys at Octo Grips and they said also you can put them on with the air compressions which I don’t think is a bad idea either. But love the little detail. Love they got the octopus on the top of the cap of the grip as well. Just something a little bit different. This market is really tough though. It’s probably equal to golf ball market. If you’re trying to crack the golf ball market, the grip market is really really tricky. But the clever thing that these guys have done is they’ve gone down the football route, gone down the kind of patriotic to your football team route. They’ve got various sizes. So they got the standard, they’ve got the midsize, and then hopefully coming very soon is more of their oversized grip as well. I’ve popped it onto my seven iron. Let’s let’s hit a few balls and let’s just give you some feedback on how it feels, how it flies. I’ve put the M1 on mine, so the midsize which I’d usually play, but now I’ve installed it, I’d probably drop down to the S1 just for the way it feels. The grip in my hands really good. Really good. It’s not going anywhere, which I feel really really positive here. And that’s the thing, when you’re playing maybe in little humidity conditions over overseas or even this country the way we are at the moment, it’s a little bit hot, it’s a little bit muggy, hands will slip. These seem great. Glove or no glove? Really good. Let’s have a few shots. We’ll see how we get on. [Music] So, looks feel really good. Really nice in the hand. Really solid feel. [Music] Yeah, really nice. Not going to slip. [Music] The only thing I’ll worry about a little bit because the ridges on this M1 are a little bit kind of more defined. We’d say more kind of thicker. They’re more indented. I’m I’m not sure how long it’s going to last on your glove if you do wear a glove, but if you don’t wear a glove, this will help you. You might wear that glove away a little bit again. Great feel really good in the hands. allows you to rotate but I don’t feel that that grip is moving in my hands because a lot of grips out there now maybe more traditional tall valvage of this world which are a little bit just a rubber composite and they’ve gotten really no grip on there. This is great. Feels really good. Really nice feel. So if you’re a golfer club slips in their hand, you find it difficult maybe to hold the golf club at times, you don’t wear a glove, these would be ace. These would work really well. Yeah, lovely. Great flight as well. So I’m holding on to that golf club. It’s allowing me to squeeze that grip. Not too tight, but allowing me to squeeze that grip and it’s staying with me. Yeah, I love that. Really nice. Absolutely brilliant. Love the design. Love the route that they’ve gone down with the kind of football related grips as well. Like they’ve got different sizing. Price point on these 1250 a grip. It’s quite comparable to um a lot of grips out there now around about the 15 20 pound mark since really the pandemic. Rubber prices, grip prices have gone through the roof. But for me, yeah, good. Yeah, good. Really positive. My probably top three positives are the variant sizes. Love that they’ve gone down the different route with the football. And for somebody who maybe has difficulty holding the golf club or who doesn’t wear a glove, these are brilliant cuz there’s so much grip. Look at that. So much grip on that golf club. You can see on the camera there as it’s zooming in, it focusing. Really lots of grip on there. Areas for improvement. I’d say the busyiness on the golf club is probably a little bit busy. So when I look down or when I’m trying to install these grips on my golf clubs, you’ve got lots of line to try and get straight. So you I was fiddling around on my in my vice to try and get it perfectly straight down and square on my golf grip. As I said before, the thicker one was a little bit more difficult to get on. And probably the third thing is this market is just really competitive. So, you’ve got to be out there. You’ve got to have something really special to break into the lampins, the superstrokes, the golf prides of this world. But again, love the ingenuity, love people being innovative and trying to crack this market because that’s what it’s all about. It’s about giving you opportunity to try different products. Check the guys out at Octo Grips. Go and try them for yourself. Love to hear your feedbacks in the comments below. If you’ve tried the the patriotic football ones, you’ve gone for the S1 or the M1 here, the midsize one. And Touchwood will see those oversized ones very soon. Thanks everybody out there for watching and we’ll see you again soon. [Music]
