JAMESTOWN — Jamestown’s golf courses were overrun by high school students the past couple of days.
“What a fun two days,” Jamestown High School head girls golf coach Katie Hemmer said. “The East-West Classic is a tradition with a new twist in 2025. We hosted all 23 Class A Teams at Hillcrest Municipal Golf Course and Jamestown Country Club. Everyone enjoyed the new format and we want to thank both courses for their hospitality.”
West Fargo Sheyenne won the 2025 East-West Classic with a score of 622. Ella Speidel of Grand Forks Red River and Fargo Davies’ Rose Solberg tied for first place. Both golfers finished the two-day event with scores of 146.
Mylee Michel was the leader on the course for the Blue Jays for the second time this season.
“Her individual performance was consistent, 87-87,” Hemmer said of Michel. “She found some trouble at Jamestown Country Club on Day 2 but recovered well.”
The Blue Jays placed 15th out of 23 teams with a score of 773. Braelyn Wiese, the Jays’ third-seed had the team’s second-best score of 197. Belle Sjostrom finished day one with a 108 but came back on day two with a 91 for a two-round total of 199. Katelyn Monson (106-97—203), Autumn Roberts (124-124—248) and Elizabeth Hassebrock (126-127—253) rounded out the Jays’ top-six scores.
Hemmer and the Jays will be back in action on Friday at Williston’s Fox Hills Golf Course. Tee times are set for 10 a.m.
