all right you guys have asked for this you guys have said you want to see a review on these Tacoma irons i will start off hot right now and say whenever I posted this on Instagram saying that I signed with Tacoma you got not all not everyone but some people were like “Oh no your game’s going to go to clubs are going to make you lose your career.” Like so much negative stuff i’m like “Guys they’re just blocks of metal.” I don’t even know if Tacoma even wants me to say this stuff first of all they look great i have the 301 MBS and I will say this I think a lot of you guys especially the ones that were skeptical on the performance on these irons and everything i think you guys are falling for the marketing honestly these are just muscle backs this is a cavity back i have 301 CB in this one and it’s like I was going to call one of the guys at Tacoma to make sure but like honestly I’m just going to speak straight from the heart you guys are just falling for the marketing there’s just blocks of metal no matter what company you go with there’s just blocks of metal you put most of the weight in the bottom they move the weight around a little bit here and there at different years but it’s like it’s the same thing over and over again and I will say since I’ve switched to these irons obviously every one of those Asian tour events that I’ve played I’ve been using these clubs so I’ve made the cut in one of the Thailand events i was really close in the New Zealand one i was playing some good solid golf there had a putt to make the cut and then played some actually really nice in Macau i think I was like T 15 or 20th at one point obviously didn’t finish the way I wanted but still like I’m playing some good golf playing switching to this stuff and I don’t know got a couple shots here i’m at the lib duel thing i am probably the only one here filming a club review when we’re all supposed to be getting ready but I will say this as a caveat i’m not a huge equipment guy i’m not a huge like junkie on this stuff so if you think that makes me not qualified so be it i understand i don’t know what I’m talking about sure but I feel like I know what I’m looking for in a ball flight off the face and just kind of general feel off the face as well like I don’t know if you guys don’t think I’m good enough then fine but I genuinely cannot notice a difference between these Tacomaomas and the old Callaways that I used to have which are also blades i don’t even know if I’m even supposed to say the company name but oh well [Music] [Music] [Music] currently hitting the 9 iron fun fact for you guys I um I usually whenever I go on the range I usually hit my 9 iron and then I go to my sixiron usually I just go straight to the driver cuz I just like whatever don’t have a whole lot of time but the reason why I hit nine and six iron it’s kind of off topic but I used to be with Nike and they got out of the club business so I was stuck with Nike clubs with no sponsors and I had like old clubs wasn’t able to renew them because I didn’t have a lot of money so I just only hit my 9 iron six iron just to preserve the grooves on all the all the other clubs and it just kind of stuck with me now i still do it but that is totally irrelevant watch this [Music] [Music] go with the 9 iron i’ll go up to the six just out of habit but also clean your clubs don’t do what I just did put it back in the bag and clean clean your clubs kids but 6 iron is still the MB and then I switch over to the 5iron which is the CB 301 CB that’s the cavity back so I got ZBs from the 5iron to the 4 iron so just two clubs in the CBS and why have you got those two in that particular Oh and these so the five iron four iron i kind of need a little bit of help getting the ball up in the air so the the cavity backs will help you do that a little bit more just because they have a little bit more weight in the bottom and they took some weight out here which is why they call it cavity cuz that’s there’s there’s a cavity right here but yeah that helps the ball get up in the air also when you start getting to like four irons and you still have a blade that thing looks like an actual like sword right like honestly that’s the that’s the ball flight I’m looking for and it’s not doing anything kind of crazy off the face where there’s some clubs that Tacoma not just Tacoma any any company has these irons where it’s like fatter soles and they like put insert like a some sort of foam in there and that basically makes the ball like just jump off the face more more like a I don’t know what it’s called it’s just trampolines off the face this is not what that is nor do I want that i want clubs that go the same distance over and over and over again and they’re consistent and based on what I’ve seen what the distance is especially because I’ve been playing tournaments where it actually kind of under the gun and have the same shots distance- wise they go what I’m looking for trajectory wise they’re pretty pretty consistent i would say if you’re going to get Tacoma clubs probably go with the same shafts that you’re used to this is what I had in my old clubs dyn dynamic gold X100’s that does not mean you should get X100’s i don’t know why people ask for like what’s in the bags cuz like I mean I guess it might be interesting but like what I have in my bag is probably not what you should have in your bag i I do get the interesting part but go with what you have in your shaft and uh I don’t know i think most people would probably go in the CBS or the one that is just more player improvement than that one i was trying to say that as nicely as I can [Music] all right so now I have the four iron again cb a little bit less weight here they took it out and put in the bottom part of the back side wow this is scientific oh not going to lie I hit that one a little bit thin you can see the ball kind of rising up a little bit obviously if you hit thin should add a little bit more spin but launch a little lower which is exactly what that one did unfortunately that’s my fault there it is there it is that’s a 4 iron for that trajectory i know i don’t know if there probably aren’t tracers on this video but it’s all good um yeah that’s the right that’s the right kind of trajectory I’m looking for the window for the ball to kind of go through not too spinny not too like boring of a trajectory either it’ll stop on green so again like that’s that’s what I’m looking for out of these clubs but yeah I think you guys get the message you guys have seen me hit these clubs for almost a year now actually I’ve been with these guys for almost a year and again I just want to reiterate the whole marketing thing that you guys a lot of you guys are falling for they’re just blocks of metal they’re quite literally just blocks of metal this isn’t hollow same cavity bag design from this company to that company to that company they’re all the same and also you’ll see like every other year they’ll be like “Oh this year we moved the weight just to be a little bit more on the toe or whatever.” and then couple years down the line they move it back to to the center or to the heel or whatever they just keep moving around that’s all they’re doing year after year so don’t fall for it these clubs are obviously uh direct to consumer and so they’re way cheaper than the other ones so a lot of these other companies they have to pay for their clubs to be distributed to like let’s say Dick Sporting Goods whatever golf PJ Supertore let’s say so that they have to pay that extra money and so to get their margins like they have to pay you basically have to pay more for those clubs because they’re doing that because Tacoma is direct to consumer they don’t have to pay for all that extra stuff so you also don’t have to pay the extra money i actually don’t know how much these clubs are i’ll put on the screen um but I think it’s like around half of what it normally is so you get a great product for about half the price i just think it’s a no-brainer honestly the quality is there the ball flight that you’re looking for is there the looks are there this is the top line if you guys want to see top line let me show you a clean club at least have some manners club on the left is a 4 iron club on the right is an 8 iron probably should be more like here or something like that but you guys get the point again I probably should have talked to Tacoma before I put this video up but didn’t so these are just my raw raw thoughts on the Tacoma Irons hopefully you guys enjoyed this video we actually put this out because we need to buy some time for some of the editing we’re still working on the second editor but hopefully you guys enjoyed the video if you guys made it all the way to the end give me a thumbs up really helps me out if you guys do that if you’re part of 6% that are watching that are still not subscribed make sure you hit the subscribe button and the notification bell i look at every single comment so leave a comment i’ll see you in the next one [Music]

I love my Takomos and will continue to play them.
"I'll tell you the truth about Takomo". Oh by the way, I am sponsored and paid by the company…
Do you adjust the lie at all? I’m looking at buying a set but unsure on lie adjustment
I bought the Takomo 101T irons a little over 2 years ago and I absolutely love them. And anyone who has hit them has gone on to buy them for themselves instead of spending 2k on custom clubs. Love these itons. Takomo send me free stuff lol
When ure at pro level u can basically hit every kind of clubs well
Did takomo say anything about the video😂😂
I almost got takomo when I switched but got cobra forge tec for same price after shipping that’s the only reason
You are paid by Tacomo so nothing you say is credible. You are a paid spokesperson so don’t lie and say Ou’s a club review. It’s a marketing video.
It is interesting to see what other people play. But I agree. Everyone should be playing different stuff. Whatever suits their game. Whatever feels the most comfortable.
I like seeing things like Tigers sandblasted wedges. Which is why they rust so much. Bare metal exposed to the elements. It's what feels the best to Tiger. And it works. Proven by his incredible career.
Takomo 101 T to the 201s. Honestly my favorite clubs to play.
I play with 4-PW of the MB’s. That’s 4 iron looks like a butter knife
Love this Luke you honesty is refreshing! I feel exactly the same way. The only difference that I felt was with my Miura Tournament Blades the softness of the forging really does make a difference those blades also where very predictable. Now that I am an old man I switched to the $6000 set of Miura Players Cavity Backs and I can honestly say they feel the same as any other quality forged iron! I felt ripped off I still play them because the groves do seem to last longer but my next set will be Takomo for sure when my groves die on my Miura’s I play 3-5 times a week.
Did you get fitted for your irons or are they standard?
@LukeKwonGolf Luke – great video, and from someone who has been using a utility and 5 wood from @TakomoGolf I'd say if I find out they do have a problem with your frank and honest review I'll be returning the Combo iron set (heads only) and Wedges that I just ordered. Thank you for a straight-up, no nonsense review, and yeah, at the end of the day (it's night) 🤣they are just hunks of metal. Now, also for your viewers, I'd absolutely recommend the GolfWorks Maltby TS-3 and TS-4 irons which I've been sampling. FANTASTIC FEEL AND WORKABILITY. Exceptional craftsmanship and absolutely beautiful heads. GolfWorks also offers many more options when choosing shafts and grips than Takomo (currently, but I imagine Tak will get there too). (ps: I'm a single digit handicap and have been around golf clubs a long time).
I agree on the blocks of metal. That being said, my Mizuno 225’s feel so much nicer than my old Ping G400’s. I need to hit some of these direct to consumer irons to see how they truly feel, so when it comes time replace my gamers I can make a smart decision.
I am tired of the big brands changing their golf club models every year with gimmicks just like Big Tech (Apple iPhones) do to trigger sales. Don’t fall for the hype.
I don't think they will mind this video was amazing and helpful as I'm in the market for takomo irons. Will be buying some end if year
Just blocks of metal. Thanks for the honesty playa. Stop buying $2,000 iron sets people. I play TW irons from back in 2007 I found on ebay for $175 and play off a 6 HC.
Any checkout codes for some irons? Love the videos by the way!!
Its why I play Maltby irons. No BS, just tech that improves playability at a price anyone can afford.
yeah golf clubs are hunks of metal. this vs that.
i just got new golf clubs, replacing my used set of ping i3 blades. i wanted to replace them because i want forged clubs vs the old cast, for the feel and consistency. i tested all the clubs and outside of lofts, from "game improvement" to "blades" to all the other terms, i hit all of them the exact same.
i wish i knew about tacoma first, because i would have bought them! i ended up buying some of the cheapest clubs that fit what i wanted and still paid nearly twice of what i could have from tacoma.
oh well, learning experience
I was on the fence about buying Takomo. This felt genuine and won me over, both for the clubs and this channels just subscribed.
Love my 201's
Totally appreciate your honest, take it or leave it opinion. Great video! I actually still play my Nike VR Pro Combo irons with Dynamic Gold S300's. Only play a handful of times per year and still shoot low 80's (used to play a lot many many years ago). Been thinking of picking up a new set of irons and will likely go with the Takomo 301 CB's =)
I got some 101s this week can't wait to use them Sunday. They look incredible, nicest looking clubs I've ever had.
this guy has some massive cake
The 301 Combo set are a fantastic set of irons. I was amazed by how soft they were. Before I got them, I had low expectations. I thought they were going to look cheap, maybe the grooves weren’t going to look right, shoddy grips, etc. When I got them, I was shocked about the quality. Then I played them. Workable as it gets. Not as unforgiving as you may think. They are just a great, soft, set of premium irons. I would say that anyone 12 hdcp or under that is looking to get better, should use this combo set. They are going to make you better. And at $600, you cannot beat that price. The only thing I would complain about with Takomo, is that they can run out of stock. You could be waiting a while to get your order. It’s really hit and miss. I’m sure they will improve that. At some point, everyone should be playing some form of Takomo. They are just that good.
Tell you the truth…. while wearing a Takomo hat. what a joke
Don't order anything from Takomo, my package got held at customs then sent back. Tried to contact them about a refund and they are ignoring me.
Rocking the 101s and love them, coming from sim2 maxs
No warranty. I was burnt. Buyer BEWARE
Question: How do you feel about the face wear on the Takomo irons? I enjoyed your truthful review…"block of iron". I am getting back into the game after being away for 20+ years, and when I stopped playing I was using 1985 Wilson box set. I have a set of used I picked up and want to get a set of Takomo 101…guess I need someone to push me over the edge.
Thank you for the brutally honest truth. I am considering the 301 cb as i watch this video. You are absolutely correct about the blocks of metal. Brand seems increase the price by 50% of above the actual cost to make.
Appreciate your content and how genuinely honest you are
