Big big moment in his day. Grant Forest here. If he can find this green and make a birdie, he might well have a fourshot lead. This is fabulous. Taking real control of this championship. Lots of shuffles, isn’t there, address wriggles, shuffles, just getting ready to hopefully nail it down the middle. Good swing. Great swing. He’s 150th on the season in driving accuracy. He’s only hitting in all honesty just over 50% of the fairway. So been a big improvement if he’s been seeing Pete Cow and Pete’s done a great job. Bunker on the right hand side. You can choose to lay up short of that or you can if you’re feeling brave, you can go over it. Either way, you get it to the corner there and you can see where you’re going. And that’s just fine where he is. Could be looking to leaning on a sand wedge. He’s got a back stop, hasn’t he? Yeah. Just behind the hole round about there. Come on. Spin back down. Yep. It’s going to come back down onto the right level. That’s a good shot. A lot of players left this putt short. Well, that was firmly hit, wasn’t it? Beautiful. Oh, I just a walk in the park, isn’t it? Just the way he would have wanted to start the uh the back nine, isn’t it? Grant Forest 11 under par and he leads by seven. Boy, has he swung it well today. I just love the commitment to that swing. Hardest thing for Grant Forest right now is to stay in the present. The weather’s been kind today as well. Seems like it’s been pretty consistent all day. Wow. That’s fooled him, but it’s on the surface. You’d have to say this three putt country. [Music] Never online, was it? Never. Back up the hill for Forest. He can give this one a bit more confidence. Oh, yes. Only just on this occasion, but it’s a lovely sound to the strike. And he’s really putting very well indeed today. 12T. How aggressive will he be here on the line? Well, it looks like he’s being quite aggressive with the driver in the bag. Could hit a 3-wood, but you are playing straight back into the breeze. It’s a short path four where the flag’s located and that club looking to favor the right side. And this is heading right. He’s had break after break when he’s miscued the driver. He’s going to get another one. Off he goes. do well to get it out. Anytime you’re in this, get it. Get it out is a result. It has. It has come out. Oh, that’s almost game over. I mean, how can you escape from there? That is Harry Houdini. It really is. Look at this. I thought this might come out 20, 30 yards. Magnificent. [Applause] Five’s a result. It really is. From where he was, he could have made triple there boxy so easily. Easily. [Applause] Well, this could tell us a lot, couldn’t it, about the way he is feeling after the hiccup at 12. Turning over. Is it too much? No, it’s a good shot. It’s a prop proper golf shot. Good distance. You know, the closer the the winning post gets, the harder it is to lay these stone dead. Granny will take that. It’s another par tucked away. Yeah, he’s chalking off the holes now, isn’t he? Five to go for Grant Forest. Five ahead. down the right. Bit of right to left. Well, that looks fine. Nine more decent swings. It’s all he needs, Mark. And it takes so long to do those nice swings. Well, that was a decent swing, wasn’t it? That is perfect. In this sort of position, he’s got to play left at this flag. [Applause] Yeah, that’s how he saw it. Just into that front slope and tried to get the slope to soften the the bounce. It’s quite a quick putt from up there, but all he needs to do is just hit the greens and two putt. This is very much a downhill putt. Breaking off the right for Forest. Putting back into the breeze. Just watch how fast it is about there. just trying to walk away with a four. Once again, he’s doing his job very well. Really good long range putt at 13. And the same there. Just keep it there. Limits the drama. Forest at 14 makes his so he stays five ahead of Scott Olison. And it is now just four holes to go. Three-wood for Grant Forest off the 15th TE straight away. Wasn’t that a beautiful golf swing? Balance. Superb. [Applause] Yeah, he’s played superbly. He deserves to win. Play like that or play like he’s playing. Yeah, just a little stab forward right at the hole. Now just a bit of check. That’s very good. Tidy work. Very professional. It’s just tough because it’s gusting right now. It’s got to have a little bit of right to left on this, but that wind is howling off the left. And he’s allowed for the wind as well. Oh, sure what that caught there. It turned sideways. Good save far though. He stays at 10 under bar once again. He chalks off another hole. Three to go, five ahead. I mean, he’ll be very much aiming at the right bunker here, which is pretty much the right edge of the green. The wind will drift it a little bit, but take all the danger down the left out of play. You’ll shortside yourself from there. Okay. Now, that’s a very difficult up and down. Now, her hair off the right. I mean, you can just tell with the play here, almost playing for a four. Anything within 15 ft, you’d do pretty well. Yeah, better than that even. What is that? Only six six feet or so. Really did run the gauntlet around the the edge of the bunker. That’s brilliant, isn’t it? There’s a fist pump. He knows that he’s getting ever closer now. And I tell you what, it will not have felt easy out there. That’s for certain. It’s been a battle for everyone. Anywhere on the fairway. Anywhere. Okay, it’s all right. We can see it. So he’d be able to squeeze something up the hill there. Maybe get it into the middle of the green. This is at least a five iron, maybe even a four. Trying to cut this and hold it against that breeze. It’s strong. Started left. Anything on the green he would take. Okay, you know what? He can pitch that all the way back into the wind. That’s not a bad miss at all. No, I thought it was going to go into the thick stuff to start with, which still it’ be had enough room. Good chance to look at his chip in action. Is he going to produce another beauty? Absolutely. Absolutely. Just a great rhythm to that. Yeah, every time he’s been asked a question out there today, he has had the answer. And that’s why he’s going to take a sixshot lead down the final hole, looking for a second win on home soil. Driver, it is. There you go. That’s in that area I’m talking about. those two right in sprinting down there. Yeah. Yeah. The cross bunkers coming down there. Well, everybody’s helping. In is down there. His playing partners are down there at this point. He’s very happy that the lead is six. Yes. Very. He’ll just he’ll have a look back at the tea and between him and the caddy and and the rules official down there. I think that’s Simon Higinbot down there with him. They’ll just between them decide where it crossed. One shot penalty drop and still just thump it forward. So penalty drop for two. He’ll be playing three now. just opting the long iron I think with the fairway metal potentially because he’s so much further back put those bunkers into play. So very much looking to flight this one down with the ball a little bit below his feet playing for position on the move. So that means he likes it safely down the fairway. Long long way back but he’s there in three. He still has a country mile to go. He has. Yeah. A long way back. He’s feeling the nerves right now for sure. Doesn’t look concerned, does he? Yeah, that was what he had in mind. Just get it to the front edge. Anything that he can play straight up the green. That’s good shot. Very good shot. This is the percentage play, isn’t it? Yes, he could chip this, but just keeping it nice and low to the ground, minimizing your chances for any sort of mistake. There’s a ridge about 2/ird of the way up. safely done. So, the stage is clear for Grant Forest and a second DP World Tour title. His first win on the DP World Tour came on home soil and he strikes again in Scotland and Grant Forest can celebrate a fourshot victory in the Nexo Championship at Trump International and a welcome return to the winner circle after four years. Take a second, enjoy it. There’s Christie. There’s little Spencer. What’s going on? He doesn’t have a clue. Hey, daddy. Who’s your daddy? Is your daddy the best ever? You don’t have a clue, do you? doesn’t make a difference to you. Grant, congratulations. Your second DP World Tour win. This one home soil in front of a home crowd. How special is that? It’s amazing. You know, it’s just speechless. Um, you know, I think it’s actually the same week as as I won four years ago in the calendar. So, yeah, just amazing. Obviously, something about this week and and being at home, but um yeah, it was a it was a tough day out there today. I didn’t didn’t have my best stuff at all, but you know, just made a lot of really good par saves on on the front nine and um yeah, obviously yeah, I was pretty nervous coming down the last there. There’s no way that T-shot was going right with a with a red stakes up the left. So um yeah, but yeah, just I can’t believe it to be honest. It’s been such a such a tough year on the golf course that um yeah to it’s just a crazy game that you can come out and and do this out of out of you know what feels like out of nowhere. You say it’s been a tough year but this has turned your season around hasn’t it? It certainly has. Yeah. Yeah. you know, I was, you know, way down the rankings, you know, a couple of months ago and, you know, started to play trend a little bit better, but, you know, still at this point of the season was, you know, right right on the bubble. But, um, yeah, obviously it’s just that old that old chestnut that, you know, one week, you know, can turn things around and it sure has. Standing on the 10th T with a six shot lead though, was there any point in that back n where you thought, actually, I can enjoy this. I can relax. I think this win is in the bag or just tension all the way. I I had no idea. I didn’t I didn’t see a scoreboard until there’s one behind 13 between 13 and 17. So I knew, you know, got through 13 uh and 10 under and I think someday got to five and um he was a lefty so I knew those last two holes were probably a lot a little bit friendlier for him. Um you know, a different wind direction again. Um, no, coming off, you know, made made a great great saves on on 16 and 17. Um, obviously seeing the leaderboard. Um, going on to the 18th, I knew I knew I had a few to play with and I tried my best to use use a few of them. Your wife Christy has just been here to celebrate with you. Baby Spencer’s been taken away because he was showing a bit of interest in our microphone, wasn’t he? Uh, your first win as a father. That’s also got to be pretty special, hasn’t it? Yeah, it’s so special, you know, obviously. Um when Spencer arrived last year, it’s you know it’s just a big change in perspective and sort of puts golf into a bit of insignificance really. But, you know, I think it it took me it’s taken me a while to, you know, sort of get my head back in full, you know, back into the golf and um but it’s yeah, it’s just it’s just different and you know, no matter what happened today, like doesn’t make a difference to him. So, um, yeah, but it’s been it’s just been an amazing amazing year and to get to get a win on, you know, before his first birthday is really special as well. He was here to watch you do it. The whole family are here to celebrate with you. Grant, go and enjoy the celebrations. Thank you so much. Congratulations. Wonderful. Just so thrilled for you. Champion down to an amazing week. Congratulations. Deserve it. Wonderful game. To watch another DP World Tour video, click here. And to subscribe, click here.
