At the crème de la crème of courses around New Zealand, golfers are typically offered scorecards and distance guides in both metric and imperial measurements. Though the winter months draw in a local patronage measuring results in metres, in summer, an influx of international players using yards outweigh the metric contingent eight-to-one.
Golf’s influence in enticing tourists to book a trip is growing, with Tourism New Zealand ‘active considerer’ research showing interest in the sport among prospective visitors increased from 34 to 48 percent over the past five years. The growth has come from a number of markets, including America, the UK, Japan and Germany.
