So championship Sunday is underway at Bowling Brook Golf Club just west of downtown Chicago. Our leaders Dean Burmeister oscillate bias stair and John Ram and Sergio off the 50 a short par four. Sergio’s second shot of five. His wedge play has been fantastic this week. This for birdie at five and the fireballs out the lead again. Bryson is third at the first. That’s very good from Dawn. there trying to salvage apart at the opening hole right in the center and before Bryson Ortiz from the thick rough at the edge of the green with a beautiful shot by there next. Yep, he’s got a shot. That tree shouldn’t be in his way, especially with the ball above his feet. Just need to keep it under the branches in front of him. Shouldn’t be a problem. Sounded like it clipped a leaf. Came out like a rock. If that’s an excellent shot from there after that marvelous second shot has this for birdie at the first. Yeah. Didn’t think after those two shots he’d be the only one hitting the green. [Music] Guys playing with him yesterday were commentating about must be nice to putt like a kid. He is a kid. Yeah. Made everything. It’s a nice steady start for him. Sergio seeking a third straight birdie to begin his round. His second shot at seven. Five balls level with Stinger for the team lead. Another wonderful wedge shot. Lu tasen his second shot at 15. A short par four stone dead. [Applause] Thomas Peters from Belgium is trying to break into the top 24 which would guarantee a live golf spot for next season. That’ll help. That was his third shot at the first for Birdie after bogeying 18. And he is one under par and in the points the seventh hole and Charles Schwarzel with his second shot. That was just a little while ago and obviously he went on to make birdie. So at one stage yesterday Richard Bland shared the lead. He made a double bogey his penultimate hole uh the third yesterday. But look at this. A birdie at five for Dicky B. Well, at the same time, Carlos Ortiz, who plays for Waco Neman’s GC, who were in fourth place at the moment. He had this for birdie at four. He made nine of them yesterday in his 65 and Carlos Ortiz is six underpar alongside John Rahm. One back of our trio of leaders. Phil Mickelson second shot at the fifth having teed off at the third and Birdie there got him to four under par. He’s only three off the lead. So Rah’s going to go ahead and take penalty relief from the penalty area. Two club lengths and then play what will be his fifth shot. Oh, what a shot. Really good from there. And this will be a world class bogey if John Ram can make it that shows great golfing acumen. Made a difficult decision. It was the right one. Marco Neman has awoken perhaps just in time to salvage some crucial points as he looks to hold off John R for the league title. One event to go in Indianapolis next weekend. And he teed up at 10 on two over path. That was for birdie at 12. This is his T-shot at the par 313th which would lead to a second straight birdie. Beautifully done by the Chilean. And then for birdie at the par 514. So WCO is one under par and in the live standings he would take a 25point lead into that final event next weekend in Indianapolis. John Rom at five. He’s got Elage in his hand. Shouldn’t have to worry about the spin too much. It’s blowing pretty good downwind. He’s just kind of flying about seven short. Just over that tier. Yeah. Get it to check. Going to land a little. Oh, right on top. Perfect. Well done. Really good. Her master trying to get something righted here. Yeah, he really needs to do something. Finally, a birdie in our marquee group. Dean Burmeister claws a shot back and he leads by one. And a first birdie of the day at the fifth hole for John Rahm and he gets it back to six underpar. He trails Burmeister by a shot. Well, elsewhere, Cameron Tringali is on the cusp of the top 24, which would guarantee him a spot in the Live Golf League for next year. He teed off at eight. He boed 12, but that’s an Eagle P at 14. So, Cameron is back to level par for the competition. He’s got to flight it down. The wind’s strong off his left. He’s going to have to take it left this hole. He’s that little cut. It will spin to the right. He’s going to fly down a sand wedge. That’s what he’s looking for. Long left. Perfect. John Rahm with an opportunity here to tie the lead with Dean Burmeister. And that will improve matters for John Rahm who’s trying to hunt down fivetime winner Waco Nean. Victory here could mean that he takes a lead into the final event in Indianapolis next weekend. Carlos Ortiz, his third at eight. Textbook technique. Nearly perfect result. This Stinger dominating in the team competition so far today. They haven’t won since 2023 in Tulsa. The last time they all shared a house together. They’re doing that again here in Chicago and it’s paying dividends. That was a third shot at 12 for Charles Schwarzel who is two under par today. Brandon Grace rattled that birdie put in at 10. Brandon is two under par today. And Louie for birdie at three. He’s also two under par today. So that negates Dean Burster’s round so far of two over. and Stinger seeking a first win in 30 competitions lead by three with nine holes to play at lig golf Chicago. WCO Nean four under par today. He’s two under for the competition. He’s climbing the pylon. These are crucial points potentially for him. Surely not. Mito Pereira was three under par towards the end of his second round and heading out of the drop zone, but it’s been a bit of a nightmare since. But that birdie at nine did get him back to one over and Joel by a stare. Oh. Oh. 195 ball speed. That is elite. They’re actually not bad either. Bayister next then to tie. Pretty straightforward. Not much in this. He would got a good judge of the pace off of Burmese ball. And he is the reigning US amateur champion. And finally, biased air makes birdie at Bowling Brook. A couple of players trying to avoid relegation. One of them is Andy Ogalry, who started the week in that last position in the open zone. He’s dropped into 49th in the drop zone, but that was for Birdie at 16. Brandon Grace with a really difficult chip shot at 13. He didn’t. He did. Brandon Grace in a tie for the lead. Well, yesterday this kid hit driver wedge into this hole. Oh no. It hang on. Oh yeah, that is perfect. Oh, it’s another excellent shot and a great chance for Eagle also. Dean Burmister fourth shot at the par five. Little uphill line just got to land just in the middle there and let it trickle. Perfect by a stair and Burmeister lead the way next to the green at 15 and Richard Bland for Birdie. He made birdie at the fifth. He bogeied the 10th, but this is four consecutive birdies and to get to six under par. Do it, Richie. And Ortiz laid up in the rough at 14. This his third shot and he played it very well. And Carlos Ortiz to tie the lead. Yes, it’s a three-way tie now for the lead with Burmeister and Bayair. A answer at the second hole. His second shot on a tap in birdie. Okay. Let’s go. Let’s go. Boy, you hit that hard. He’s got that ability. Oh, that’s amazing with an iron. That’s just brute strength. Walco Nean for birdie at seven. [Music] Four under par today for Waco Nean, two under par overall. So he’s leapt into the top 15 and some valuable points being earned on Championship Sunday as he seeks to become the Live Golf League champion. Well done. Impressive stretch by Stair on the back nine with the pressure. Paul Casey is putting in a stealthlike performance here in Chicago. Eight top five finishes in the Live Golf League. He’s made multiple playoffs. He’s yet to win. Oh, this was Harold Vall the third. Second shot at two. He’s five under for his round so far today. Hard to control that. Oh, what a shot from Harold. Rob’s turn at 15. He’s going to have to play kind of a mini flop shot here. I think I don’t think he needs to land on the fringe. He’s got to land this within a yard of the fringe. Oh yes. So beautiful. And that puts a little pressure on the youngster. This was Brandon Grace to save par at 17. Yeah, no chance to get it close from that back bunker, but that’s a great effort. Brilliant from Brandon Grace. Burster next. Time to play aggressive. That’s a great shot. Can Burmister break the tie at 16 and get to nine under? He would also get Stinger level with Tor K. There it is. A clenched fist and he leads Live Golf Chicago by a shot with two holes to play. Now Jose need birdie birdie to really get in the action. This looks good here. Oh, he’s not out of it yet by any stretch. This is the green at 16. This is for four birdies in his last five holes for Meito Pereira. That could be huge for Mito as he try and gets enough points to leap out of the drop zone. And it’s also great news for Torqu. They lead by one. Well, this young man can still join the party. He can put a little pressure on here if he can knock this close. Spin. Wow. Magnificent world class. We could be headed for a double playoff at this rate. Here’s John Rahm. Just got to get this thing close. He knows exactly what he’s doing. He’s only thinking three at this point. Although maybe two with his wedge game. There it is. Fabulous. There could be three of them. [Applause] Now then, Dean Burmister to win. Off it goes. Has he got the legs? Oh, emphatically not now. John Ram to tie Burster on nine under. He is nine under par as he forced a playoff here at Bowlingbrook. now biased there to make it a three-way playoff individually. This one not so long. He should be able to handle it. Great character from the 21-year-old Hosel Bay. Only his seventh professional tournament. So it looks like a team playoff. This for Stinger to be in a team playoff as well. and for him individually is huge. Well, he began the day with a two-shot lead. Dean Burmist, he has carded a level par 71 and they’ll all go again. Ram Bastair and Burmeister tied on nine under par. It’s a three-man individual playoff and it will be a team playoff between Torqu and Stinger. A three-way playoff to settle the score in the individual competition. Horse by a stare. He probably super amped up right now. First play off of the professional. That was better. Lovely swing. So far so good. And once again, the youngster has the chance to put a little pressure on both of these older guys. The two guys in the rough, they don’t have easy shots right now. [Music] He says go. Oh yeah, another beautiful shot. Wow, that’s a lot of spin. Spin it like that. Going downwind. Dean Burmeister. Here he is with his second shot. He’s got to let this run out. Oh, it’s beautiful. Beautifully done. Great response from Dean Burister. And Rahm will be next one. How’s the lie, Pat? Lie is not good. He’s got a It’s a hook lie. He’s got the wind off the right as well. He’s going to have to really try to slice this to hold that face straight. He’s got to try to slice this 20 yards. Looks like it came out pretty well. Wow, that was some shot effort. Three beauties. [Applause] So Dean Burmeister with a chance of a lifetime here to earn a second career live golf league victory. Burmister, pay attention to what he’s doing and nothing else. Exactly, David. Time to narrow your focus. Small target, confident stroke. Burmeister for birdie and for victory. Yes, elation for Dean Burmeister. Burmeister, our champion in Chicago at the first playoff hole. Back on the tea, the team playoff will begin. On 18 is Charles Schwarzel of Stinger GC. Did he? Nice. Good. A good start there. [Music] Free 68 for Ortiz today. A beautiful T- shot there. You’re going to have to make one birdie. One birdie, one par at least to win this. May take two birdies. Oh, it’s a wonderful shot. Schwarzel can knock this close. Boy, they’ve got to pull something special out just to keep this playoff going. Oh, [Applause] what Nean has hit it a mile up here. That is going to pull up not his best. Advantage South Africa. Waco birded this hole in round one. [Music] Oh, that was so close. So, a par for the toqu captain Wo Nean. Now, Carlos Ortiz really has to make this. He birded this hole yesterday. Pred it today. Off it goes. There it is. Well played. Well played. They’re still alive. So, Stinger have to make both birdie putts to take the team title in the first playoff hole. First to go for the South Africans, a rejuvenated Brandon Grace. Yes. Now, Charles Schwarzel for the win. Schwarzel then rolls it in. Victory for South Africa. Victory for Louis and Stinger GC. They end a 31 event drought. Brandon Grace has found his form. Schwarzel held his nerve. Louie was terrific. And Dean Burmeister contributed by winning the individual event as well. [Music]
