Justin Rose beat JJ Spaun in a dramatic play-off at the FedEx St. Jude Championship on the PGA Tour.
The 45-year-old lost over extra holes to Rory McIlroy in April at The Masters but this time the Englishman prevailed.
Rose, ranked 15th in the world rankings, sank a birdie putt on the third extra hole to seal his 12th win in America.
Spaun had the opportunity from 12 feet to extend the contest, but blasted his putt through the break and missed left of the hole.
Rose now does not have to worry on relying on a captain’s pick from Luke Donald to represent Team Europe this September at Bethpage Black.
Victory for Rose arrived 45 minutes after Tommy Fleetwood blew yet another opportunity to claim his first PGA Tour win.
Fleetwood, who came unstuck on the 72nd hole in June at the Travelers Championship, led by two strokes with three holes to play.
He could only manage a par on the par-5 16th as other gained strokes and somehow made a bogey from the middle of the fairway on the next hole.
Fleetwood was praised for how he handled his latest near-miss, though.
Rose also grabbed a huge amount of prize money.
The 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship had a total prize purse of $20m, meaning Rose scooped a whooping $3.6m winner’s cheque.
