Cobra claims the new FutureFit33 hosel is the most adjustable on the market with 33 settings. Our fitters think it’s a great product but golfers need to understand what it can and can’t do so don’t buy without watching this first.

If you tested the FutureFit33 with a robot it would show you one set of results but in the hands of a real golfer (in this case Aaron Ellis) you’ll get different set of results as golfers adapt to what they see in their hands.

So, is it the dream club for players like to tweak their kit or can it cause more problems for some golfers? We find out in this thorough test.

The club is a Cobra DS Adapt X with the Future Fit 33 hosel.

• Completely brand independent so you’re guaranteed unbiased advice
• Largest heads/shaft selection in Europe. We have the biggest matrix.

Hello and welcome back to SGGT. Today, myself, James, and Aaron. Cobra Future Fit 33. Does it work? And how much of a difference does it actually make? Let’s talk about it. James, talk me through technology to begin with. So, the Cobra have decoupled loft and lie from each other. So, we can make it upright, we can make it flat, we can add loft, we can take loft away. Um, it’s a it’s a bit of a fitter’s dream to be honest. It means that we can dig a whole lot more. A fitter’s dream or is a fitter’s nightmare? Well, it could it could depends where you buy it. I It could it could be both. So, for us, the golfer after fitting has no need to go and chop and change. Okay. Um, I think if it’s one of these things, uh, bought at retail, it’s positively encouraged to shop and change, but when you’re dialed, you’re dialed and you’ve come here to get dialed, not to go and find that out yourself. Um, so for us, it’s the it’s definitely the fitter’s dream. So, Adam, we’re going to get you hit all 33 settings and see what it does. I think what we’ll do is we’ll hit half a dozen on A1 which is the standard setting 90° as it is. And then I think we’ll go to the four most extreme. So C7 is the highest of lofts. A5 is standard loft and most fade bias. Okay. G3 lowest loft on a neutral setting. And then we’ve got E1 which is the most draw bias. So let’s we’ll give us half a dozen just kind of stock shots to begin with. Yeah. And then we’ll try the most extremes. We’ll look at some data and we’ll see does it do what it says on the tin. So we have Cobra DS Adapt X 9° static. Okay, that’s where we’ll start and then we’ll take it from there. We’ll just leave we’ll leave head alone. We’ll chop and change neck. Perfect. Same shaft as usual. Same shaft as usual. Ventus Velcore Plus 5X. Perfect. Um I’ve got that in mind and we’ve done the majority of previous videos. Same with this we guy. Perfect. P. Good shot. One. one. So, James, when you say decoupled, does that mean it’s like a normal cog, they’re linked? Yeah. So, if you if you loft up, you’re then going to make it a little bit more upright at the same time. Loft down, make it a little bit flatter. Hey, that was quite nice. So, that one said it was going to go really straight. So, as a good starting point, we’ll go with that. Should we just leave it on A1? Let’s end the video now. See overhead with a lot of this. I think in a lot of cases, let’s see if you’ve got the right shaft and the right head, A1 will work for the majority golfers. I think if if there’s golfers that may benefit from the other extreme, and that’s fine. But generally speaking, I think for a lot of golfers, it’s if we’re having to change and change the settings so regularly, there’s a flaw in the setup. Is it the shaft of the head? That’s not right to start with. And if you are changing it, you probably are going to go to one of the extremes to to try and counter something. Yeah. It’s the nicest looking Cobra driver since F9. Okay. Little bit necky, but I’ll get away with it. Mhm. As our very own testing robot, it’s good to see that you’re not broken. The straight setting still goes straight. Stig a we bit in it. A wee bit. It’s got a better beard than Stig though. The SGT Stig. The SGT Stig. There we go. Good. Solid again. Yeah. Right. James and I are going to change setting here and we’re almost going to play a game. We’re just going to kind of do it blind. We’re going to change it and we’ll see if it does what it says on the tin. It’s probably the best way. I need a impact gun. Well, that looks less lofted. We’ve added loft here, Aaron. Right. So, give us two or three and let’s see what ball flight does to begin with and has it changed the way that we thought it would change. I went left. I know that that’s went left. Did it feel a decent hit? It felt okay. Yeah. Did it feel like a kind of swing that should have went that far left? It was a pull. It did feel like a pulley one, but yeah, it was it was a little bit further left than I thought. But you’re going to tell me this is flat. No comment. That was nice. Yep. Good. One more. So, I’m really looking forward to looking at this dispersion screen at the end. And do we have seeing it go sideways? Four points of a compass here. Okay. Right. Give us it back. There we go. We go again, James. Visually, how did it look? It didn’t look all that different to be honest. Okay, that’s interesting. Um, did you could you tell what it was? It looked like the same loft. Okay. It looked like the same. If I was to guess, I would have said it was upright. Okay. All right. Next setting. That looks nice. That looks nice. So, it looks nice. What does that mean? Doesn’t look like there’s a lot of loft on it. Doesn’t look like I have to try and keep it down a little bit. Okay. Um and I don’t know as a result of that I can face kind of sits a little bit open, but okay. That could be my imagination. Definitely looks like there’s less loft. Okay. He’ll do. Mhm. You take that as a flight. We’re going to actually delete that one off cuz Trackman lost spin rate Aaron and kind of robbed you a little bit. You’re going to need to give us an RC repel. H try to help on that one. I don’t know why. Okay. Mhm. I lost that. A little bit flat, but like knuckle ball stuff. Here’s your sort of squeezy low thing. It’s interesting. The ones that have come out lower have actually spun a little bit more. That was nice. Good. Next set, James. Let’s have we move. What was that setting, Aaron? What does it look like? Um, less loft on it. Looked like felt like I almost had to stand a little bit more open and try and Okay. slide it. But So, you feel like you moved yourself to try and accommodate the setting. Okay. Right. Aaron, let’s give this a wee blast here. How does it look? M not trying not to look at the setting, but um just a bit flatter. Good balance. Good. Bad balance. Good shot. Sorry. You hit sound solid. Yeah, that’s nice. Visually, are you seeing anything down by the ball? Um, honestly, no, but the ball flight would suggest it’s got more loft on it. Mhm. Okay. Okay. It looks good. I can’t I I couldn’t tell. This is the hardest one to tell. Okay, that was necky. Pretty good thought. Yeah. Right, James. Final setting. Let’s have a we move. What’s the setting that’s left? Probably not. It’s got It’s got to be flat. Yeah. The only way I could tell with that last one was because of the ball flight. Yeah. Like I could not tell you that had two degrees more loft on it. That’s maybe a testament to the design or it’s a comment on I just can’t see. Okay, Aaron, last one to try. Does it confirm your thoughts? Yeah, now I can see a touch less left on it. Yeah. Um, yeah. Ah, that was me. As much as it started left and you got that kind of path a little bit left and it didn’t want to go further left. Yeah. Yeah. It kind of wanted to hold its line. More a pull than a hook that one. So there’s there’s probably a little bit of of me going this is flatter. I can maybe just give it a bit. You can allow yourself to use your hands. Yeah. So, it’s interesting that you’re maybe a higher skilled player. So, what you’ve done is you’ve probably manipulated yourself to the different settings to try and do something different. Whereas the robot or a golfer that maybe didn’t have that ability would just stand in more of a difference. Yeah, that’s nice. Like that shape. You could talk to that, can’t you? Yeah. All day long. Best strike of the lot. Yeah, that was a nice strike. Face was maybe just a fraction open and then I tried to forget about the fact that it was flat. Yeah, good hitting pal. Yeah. All right, James, we look at some numbers, see what it looks like. Let’s have a look and see. Right, Aaron. So, just looking at some of the data here and a little bit of dispersion of what we see. So, the white circle on the screen there was A1 neutral and the good news is it’s went straight. Perfect. It’s done what it said on the tin. The first one that we tried was E1, which would see us favor the left hand side. So from a curve number standpoint, we’re seeing a lot more curve to the left hand side than we are with any of the other ones. As well as from a dispersion standpoint, the barrel roll meant further left. We then went into G3 from a setting standpoint, James, which is a lower launching of them. Lowest lofted. Yep. Lowest lofted. Lowest launch. And we look at launch angles throughout the piece. Launch angle down at 11.6. six, you kind of got a similar result at the flat setting. Um, but similar. So, launch was down, which is good. It done what we wanted it to do. Um, C7 was your next one, which is the highest launching, which at 143 ft was the highest peaking of them. So, again, there’s an argument. It’s done what it said on the tin. And then last was the A5. So, I think what you done was you manipulated start direction a little bit. So, we’re not necessarily seeing a right miss that we would associate with a robot or a golfer that wasn’t as skilled as yourself, but what we are seeing is that curve number at 51 ft on average more to the right hand side. So, even the one that you started down the left, it wanted to come back the way. So, did it make a massive difference? I wouldn’t have said so because you adjusted yourself to the setting. Yeah. Did it change from a Did it make a difference? Yes, it did. It did. Yeah, 100%. The settings did what they said they were going to do. I think if we were to do it again and maybe done it with the LS head so that the spin rate came down throughout the mall and you maybe got more of a curvature or more of a difference. Yeah. I think a lot of that spin beheld online a little bit better. But definitely done what you thought it was going to do. Yeah. And then even visually sitting down, um the first one was kind of hard to tell cuz it was coming out as standard. There wasn’t as big a jump. Yeah. And then maybe when we seen it go left, I thought, okay, that that might be the upright one. Yeah. So for me, Aaron, I think definitely worth trying. Definitely. It’s good product. Who benefits, James? I think I think everyone can certainly benefit from Future Fit 33, but I think the way maybe to think about it is it’s like the icing on the cake. So the head itself, the shaft itself, the the build, that’s the main ingredients need to be correct and the sprinkles then add to add to the whole thing, but it’s not the thing that makes the cake tastes good in the first place. It’s not like you for a food reference there, James, is it? Defin definitely not. No, but you’re right. If you get a guy that buys it off the shelf and they’ve got something they like to look at, if they like a flat club, they can chuck it in flat and get get that visual. If they like an upright club, they can chuck it in upright, get that visual. Um there’s a there’s a preference element to it as well. Yeah, I think I’d be that I think I’ve referenced it in previous videos that for me personally, I’d be finding the setting I like the look of the most and then finding a shaft and a setup round about that. And I’d almost be the opposite. I’d almost want to fit my setting first because for me to finetune something that really really worked and then we we went trying to find something that made it work a little bit better and I didn’t like how it sat on that setting. Yeah. I’d be more inclined to move it back to and and that’s where you take the golfer’s preference. You when you’re when you’re chatting to them, you need to understand what they like as well. Yeah. One of the things that we see in fittings like all day every day is does the product look good? Does it feel good? Does it fly the way that you want it to fly? And if Trackman wasn’t there, would you actually like that shot on the golf course? Would you be happy with that? Yeah. And the Trackman is then there to kind of validate what we’re talking about. Yeah. It’s definitely a worthwhile experience, an experiment we’ll go with. Um, and within reason it done what it said it was going to do. Yeah. The bet is we’ve done it. We we’ve found the answers based on doing the most extreme settings. Yeah. So, it’s if that Hoszle had five settings on it, the A1 and then the most extremes, would we be any worse off? Unsure. So, from a a tinkering standpoint, there’s loads and loads of options and you can fine tune and do there’s a lot more nuance to it, isn’t there? Yeah. Yeah. Right. And as you could say too much, but you’ve got loads of options. There’s certainly a golfer that is not going to be there. There’s golfers, we know the golfer in the golf club that wants to tinker. Every time he plays, every time he’s hit a bad shot, if he’s not a medal, the key comes out. And there’s always something for that guy, isn’t it? Yeah. But all in all, thank you very much, gent. No problem at all. Thank you. And thank you to everyone for watching. For more content, please like and subscribe to the channel. 1. Agree with James in that if you want this driver and it suits your swing, then get fitted then leave well alone. Can’t help but feel there’s a bit of over engineering though and you can definitely get fitted into a great performing club without that number of very very small adjustments.
