Sam Beerto’s participation in the Nexo Championship came to an abrupt halt on Thursday due to disqualification. The English golfer recorded a one over par 73 in his opening round, but an error in signing his scorecard led to his disqualification. Beerto began his round positively at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdine, completing his first 11 holes at 300 underpar. After starting with two pars, he exchanged a birdie at the third hole with a bogey at the fourth. His momentum picked up as he notched birdies at the seventh, 8th, and 11th holes, putting him in a promising position. However, the challenging finish on the course proved costly. A bogey on the par414th was followed by a double bogey on the next hole, bringing him back to even par for the day. A final bogey on the par 51 18th hole capped off a frustrating end to his round. The situation worsened for Beer Stow when he mistakenly signed for a score lower than he actually achieved, resulting in his disqualification for breaching DP World Tour regulations. This setback will hinder his chances of advancing in the race to Dubai rankings as the DP World Tour season approaches its conclusion. Currently sitting at 54th in the rankings, Bearstone needs to break into the top 70 to qualify for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, which takes place after the back nine swing in October. Following that, the top 50 players on tour will compete in the season ending DP World Tour Championship. In the 2024 season, Beerto participated in both of these final events, ultimately finishing 36th in the race to Dubai rankings.
