Speaking as n 40 year golfer playing since I was 8. I have done it all and broke it all. My mom only had 2 rules growing up raising 3 golfing boys. Never in the house and never facing anything alive or expensive. EVER.

This is a vivid memory that will always haunt me. When I was 8 we lived in a suburb and I took one of my dad’s irons and a golf ball, took a massive swing into the neighborhood, and I heard a crash.
I put the stuff away went inside and have never told another living soul.
Good thing he recorded it for the insurance company.
