hello and welcome back to the channel now recently I bought these these are the Fjoy Flex golf shoes and I thought what I would do is give you a quickfire review based on having worn these on the golf course five times and to the driving range now normally with all of the products I review on this channel or on my golf blog I will put them through their paces for several months before I release a review so that I know the product inside out and so that you can trust that if you’re buying it based on my review I have thoroughly tested that product so I will have a more detailed review up in the near future but for now I’m just sharing my initial thoughts of the FootJoy Flex having worn it several times now if you want a full product specification and if you’re interested in buying this product after watching this video I’ll put the link in the description below and there’s also a link there to my unboxing video where you can see the Flex up close after I unboxed it so it’s all nice and clean and as it should be first of all let’s talk about the price so this pair of Flex shoes were £90 that is somewhere in the middle in terms of Fjoy pricing so you can sometimes pick up Foot Joy shoes for maybe 50 or 60 in the sales but generally speaking most of the range sets probably around about £120 to 160 so if you’re looking at the Premier Series for example that’s going to be at the top end these though at 90 I think were pretty reasonably priced now I bought these as a versatile option i wanted something that I could wear to the golf course but also to the practice area or to the driving range and I wanted something that I didn’t need to worry too much about what I was wearing with it so with a more traditional golf shoe you need to pick the right attire to go with the shoe but with these I knew I could just grab a pair of shorts i could have a pair of joggers on or sort of training shoes or training trousers or even my golf trousers as well so it gave me a flexible option what I was looking for in these as well was a trainer something that was super comfy that I could wear on the golf course but particularly during during dry conditions i didn’t want a shoe that I was going to use in the winter or wet conditions i was looking for something that was good for summer golf and that’s what the Flex is now visually I think they are a really really nice pair of golf trainers they are available in a range of different color options i’ve gone for white here with little gray accents but you can get them in black and there’s even brighter options depending on your preferences but I’ve been a little bit safe here shall we say but I like them i also like the fact that even though I have big feet and I’m fairly short they don’t really accentuate my feet so sometimes with white shoes like this it can make my feet look huge but actually these although they’ve got quite a chunky sole don’t do that to my feet so I’m really pleased with how they look when I wear them now in terms of the materials you’ll see that they’ve got this kind of um webbed effect material in here very very soft and then we’ve got the um sort of plastic down the side here but there’s not too much going on it’s a fairly simple golf trainer in terms of comfort they are exceptional so straight out of the box I took them for the first round and I was blown away at just how comfortable these were so both in terms of the sole but also are the fit around my foot here either at this area here or where my uh toes sit in the shoe just super super comfortable i have owned quite a few pairs of Foot Joy shoes in the past and I know they are very very comfortable but some of them take a little bit longer to bed in than others with these straight out of the box it feel felt like putting on a brand new pair of trainers walked 18 holes not a problem at all now in the five rounds I’ve done so far and the several trips to the range I haven’t developed a single blister and something that is actually really good about this soft upper here is when it creases it doesn’t squash the tops of your toes and it doesn’t leave any kind of blistering or marks which sometimes has happened with other golf shoes particularly leather ones before the leather starts to soften they can be a little bit aggressive on the top of your feet so this has served me well so far they’re also very very stable so I like the fact that they’ve got this kind of added area up here above your heel so your heel and your foot sits in nice and snug nice and secure and it’s quite easy to get them on and off now obviously I always take my laces out and take my foot out properly but you are able to just grab this and slip your feet in and out if you so wish but the comfort in these around your um any area of your foot and underneath are very very good so comfort can’t fall looks can’t fall as well in terms of the grip you’ll see I’ve gone for spikeless so it has plenty of areas to grip but I didn’t buy them to use in wet weather conditions i bought them to use when the golf course is dry and in my testing so far both on a high a hybrid course and on a Lynx course it has um the the flex has performed really really well at no point have I felt like I don’t have enough grip even at the driving range hitting off of those artificial mats I’m able to get plenty of grip and they’ve done a really good job so so far you might be thinking that it is a very very good golf shoe which it is but for me there is one major flaw and something that is actually quite a big frustration of mine and that’s this material on the top here so whilst it looks really nice whilst it’s comfortable and it allows sufficient air flow into your foot the biggest problem I’ve experienced in the round so far and actually this came up after the very very first round is it is a magnet for dirt so what happens is any dirt will basically sit in this area around about here and it is very very difficult to clean you can also see it traps little pieces of grass or uh little twigs or anything in here and they’re quite difficult to get out so although I have worn them in completely dry conditions at the golf course you are going to get some dust coming up from the bunkers from the gravel path between holes you’ll get a little bit of moisture on the greens depending when you’re playing with little cuts of grass and it seems to be very very very difficult to keep these clean now after the first round I had quite a lot of brown staining on the top and I ended up taking hot soapy water and a toothbrush and tried to clean them to keep them clean now the problem is if you don’t clean them after every round and that dirt dries into there it’s really difficult to get it out now personally I don’t really want to have to clean my golf shoes after every single round and I knew with this material that that was potentially going to be an issue hence I only wear them when it’s dry but even during dry rounds it is a bit of a difficult one because when you come home you have to spend some time cleaning them they’re £90 so they’re not super cheap i don’t want to be cleaning them after every round but I also don’t want to leave them with dirt on them because then they’re just going to get stained and look really really old really quickly so in terms of the material that for me is the biggest drawback of the Flex that I’ve found so far is they’re a stunning golf shoe they’re super light they’re comfortable they’ve got good traction they look great but this material on the top if I’m totally honest is difficult to keep clean and that’s something that you just want to be aware of now you can obviously tell with the type of material they’re not going to be good in wet conditions i didn’t buy them to wear when it’s wet so I’m not really interested in whether they’re waterproof or water resistant i know they’re not going to be um I’m going to just use them in dry conditions or at the driving range but for me that’s the one thing that is a little bit of a surprise with this shoe and a bit of a frustration is that it does require that extra bit of care after you finish your round let me know in the comments area below what you guys think about the flex if you’ve owned a pair or you’re thinking about getting a pair what are your thoughts on this material on the top and keeping them clean or if you do own a pair what are your tips to keep them clean anyway hopefully you find this video to be interesting if you have then make sure you hit that like button and if you’ve not done so already please do consider subscribing to show your support to the channel as I said I’ll be nipping out with these over the next few months to continue testing them i’ll have a full review on this channel and also on my golf blog online but until then I’ll see you in the next
