I’m in the I’m in the fam. I’m sorry. She doesn’t know she’s going to be famous. We are here in Memphis for the first event of the FedEx playoffs, the St. Jude Classic. Getting ready for the first round of the tournament. Tea time today is 9:35. Um, I woke up at 6 and went through the golf course, my yardage book. um kind of wrote down where all the pens were, looked at where the um wind direction was going to be today to kind of make a game plan for how I want to play the course strategically, pick out an outfit for the day, and head to the course. And I’ll arrive at 7, a little after 7:35, so pretty much right on that 2 hour mark. an afternoon tea time depending on the tournament. I may either go out and about in the city that I’m in um in the morning or I’ll honestly put on the the PGA Tour coverage on ESPN Plus and see how the course is kind of playing. Um see if there’s any like putts or something that’s causing people uh some issues. If a couple guys have a same putt and they miss at the same spot, I’ll kind of take, you know, middle note of that. you know, last two years I I showed up to this event my first year. I barely showed up. Uh I was number 70 on the points list, so I was the last man on the field. But yeah, there was just way more pressure. I I knew like every shot was incredibly important for me to try to get to the next playoff event and eventually get to East Lake. I’m already locked up for the Tour Championship. So, I don’t really have as much pressure this year really. I have nothing to lose in a way until I get to the Tour Championship. And so, it’s been an incredible year. I just feel like I’ve learned a lot kind of from my first couple seasons and now this year I feel like I’m teeing it up every week. Um truly believing that I’m, you know, one of the best players and and can beat all the the top players in the world. I saw a podcast that um Chris Garup did with Smiley the other day and he was like, “If you interviewed me three weeks ago, our conversations would be so different. things change so fast and you don’t know where um where golf’s going to take you and you just got to kind of let things happen, work hard, believe in yourself, and then just um see where it takes you. What’s been your your favorite memory of the season if you had to pick one? Yeah, I’d say getting the first win with with Andrew Novak at the Zur Classic has to be number one. The emotions, you can’t describe it. Like it’s just out of body experiences kind of the last couple holes and making that winning putt. It’s surreal. It’s what we practice for. And to get over the hump the first time definitely, I think was the sweetest moment of my year so far. Do you think that having that experience made I don’t want to say made Colonial easier, but kind of set the stage for you to get that second one quicker? Yeah, definitely. I It definitely set the stage. I I felt extremely confident in my abilities coming down the stretch at the Charles Schwab. I was obviously playing really good golf at the time, kind of coming out of Zurich. I think I just finished eighth at the PGA Championship. So, I was kind of building a ton of confidence after that first win. I was way more calm and composed down the stretch than maybe I I would have been had I not gotten over the hump already. So, yeah, I would say I leaned a lot on my experiences at the Zurich, at the Charles Schwab, coming down the stretch and just truly believing in myself, basically convincing myself I’d won the tournament. I just needed to go out and just execute the shots. And yeah, even kind of going out of that into the next week at the Memorial battling it out with Scotty and and kind of into the summer having a bunch of top 10s after that or top 15s um you know, 10th at the US Open. It was um just been building a ton of confidence, continued belief in myself and just working hard um on and off the course to to do what I need to do to be an elite golfer. Oh, there’s my caddy. Hey, Alex. My bad. I brought my YouTube uh YouTube uh content creator team. I’m glad you know who he is. Yeah, I had to introduce myself. They weren’t sure who I was. He seems so excited for the day. Can’t wait for Alex to Yeah, he got his little haircut yesterday. He’s feeling good. So, I’m going to go into the locker room, uh change shoes, um and then go to the fitness trailers and start my warmup. Always got to bring your jump rope everywhere. Still a kid at heart. What’s up, captain? How are we doing? Play well, bro. Thanks. Pick me. Just kidding. I’m going to earn my sixth spot. Or not even six. I’m going to be like second on that points list. What’s going on? Cool. Later. get moving a little bit. Most guys are in there. Feel like that’s one thing I’ve learned on tour is kind of the guys you see in there are the guys that are staying on tour for a long time. So, it’s important to go do your work there in the mornings before rounds and on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesdays and be diligent with it. I’d say one of the most important things that I do in there is um like a hip series. Basically doing like hips, different hip swings and different things to open up the hips. Happy Gilmore would always say it’s in the hips. So, try to stay true to those words. I’ve actually watched it twice because the first time I was like half watching it and I felt like I missed some scenes and then I watched it a second time. A lot of good cameos, a lot of good good characters in the movie. Let’s put it that way. I mean, I think everyone said Scotty so far. He can’t miss. Doesn’t matter what doesn’t matter what he does. Sammy, what’s up? I started a couple of them laugh and then I looked at you just to make you think. Morning. Hey. All right. Some softer swings. Time is it, Alex? Actually, I can look at that. 9:00. No, just before we wouldn’t do that to you. You are telling stories. No, he can still tell the stories. There’s just repercussions. Not a whole lot of wind flow today. No. What’s up, Dad? Beautiful day, is it? Careful. while you’re on camera. Y’all break a little bit. You uh film one, Lexi. Just a little more cuy swing with this club. I think based on that cuz that looked flippy in that video. I assume you just watched it, right? Yeah. Correct. So strong. Oo, little sweat. 25 boy. [Music] Hello. Hello, Ben. Good luck. From Chapel Hill, North Carolina, please welcome Ben Griffin.
