Martin walks the student through drills that focus on creating tension in the band on the backswing, standing the shaft up properly, and using rhythm and rotation to create a more efficient, inside path to the ball.

This lesson highlights key fundamentals like hands-in, club-out positioning, resisting and relaxing through the swing, and shallowing the club naturally for better compression. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your move through the ball, this video delivers practical golf swing tips that help you feel the correct motion and gain better control.

Now, we’re going to grind on a little different feeling that’ll really bend your mind a bit. So, hang on a sec. Pop this mic on you. There you go. Set up the ball. Good. Now we’re going to take it back and see how I want you to keep tension on this band and stand this thing. See how you’re standing that up? Good. Go back and get the hands in. Feel like the hands stay on this band. Stand it up and turn. Good. Okay. Good. Stay there with me for a second. Good. Just hold it there. Just kind of feel this band fight you. Tip over a bit more if you can to the ball. Tip over. There you go. Good. Good. Okay. So, that band’s got some tension. Then let the let it go behind you. So, on the way back, it’s going to feel this way. Left shoulder down. Looking at the ball. Fight this band up. Fight it up. Up, up, up, up, up, up, up, up. And then we’re going to let it go over here. That’s how you’re going to start to hit him more that way. You with me? Okay. Cuz I’m trying to hit him with that steak. I know you are. Okay. So, now take a moment. Come on over here for a sec. So, you want me there? Don’t even try to hit the ball. Okay, do me a favor. Flare your feet a little bit more. So, reset yourself to the ball. Get set to the ball. Okay, good. Give me these feet a little flurry. Okay, good. Get into your flex left knee a little bit. Good. On the way back, it’s going to feel like your hand stays on my fingers. Go back. Good. Keep that. Keep it. Go. Go. Go. Go. Go. Go. Go. Go. Go. See how that’s going more way more vertical? It’s not going behind you, is it? Good. Go back up vertical. Then let it shallow and then rotate. Good. So now no ball, just a teet to clip. See how you do. Hands on the band. Up. Up. Up. Up. Up. Up. Good. Do it again. Okay. So, hang on. Yeah. Don’t move. Hands on the You got hold of it? Yep. Get a hold of it. I’m gonna reach in there and move it. Gotcha. Okay. And now bonk me with a club head. Doink. Doink. Okay. Go, go, go, go. Turn, turn, turn, turn, turn. Let it. Okay. Good. Good. Do that again. Fight that band. Up. Up. Up. Up. Up. Good. But don’t hang back when you’re So when you’re when you’re doing this, that’s great. Hands are in. Club is up. Don’t hang back. Go ahead and let it you go to your left while it lowers cuz you’re going to have to start shifting your way. You do. Narrow your stance. F your feet for me. Turn your toes out. Please turn your feet more than that. More than that. Thank you. Flex your left knee a little bit. Straighten your right leg a little bit. Good. Hands in. Club up. Good. Higher. Hang on a sec. Hang on. Okay. I’m going to tip you over a bit. I’m going to tip you over. I know. I know. Stay there for a second. Okay. Good. Ready? Yeah. Let it go. Let the band come off. So, here’s what I’m going to tell you. Resist. I’m going to give you the example. Watch. Stand right there. Okay. So, here’s the band connected. Okay. Resist. So, see how nothing went soft and in? Nothing went right. So, I’m going to resist this. Resist it. Resist it. Resist it. Relax it. Okay. Okay. Okay. Flurry feet. Resist it. Resist it. Resist it. Relax it. Now watch how I’m relaxing it. Am I relaxing it with my face going to the sky? No. Good. Resist it. Resist it. Relax it. And guess what you do now? Rotate it. Resist it. Relax it. And what? Rotate. Show me. Okay. I can do it left-handed. You can certainly do it with two hands. Sometimes it’s easy one-handed. Okay, flare those toes, please. Heels closer together, toes flare. Good. Resist this band on the way back. Resist it. Stand it up. Good. Resist it. Relax it. Resist it. Relax it. Resist it. Resist it. Good. Relax it. Good. Awesome. Let me take a picture of that. So, I’m keeping it way keeping my the shoulder out more. Okay. Okay. Set up at the ground and then make a swing. Let me take a picture for you. Resist it all the way up. Relax it. Good. Take a p take a look. Okay. Just take a look at what that, you know, band confusion creates. Okay. See the club? It’s still not up enough. Okay. You still want it more vertical. Well, how would it be up? If the hands are a bit more in, the club could be a bit more that way. You tracking? Gotcha. Okay. But it’s better. That looks pretty good there, doesn’t it? Yeah. Then on the way down, is that over the top? Not even close. Okay. Right. Yeah. Stand the shaft up. Good. Wonderful. Okay, now we’re going to tap one off a tee. Do me a favor, though. Yeah. I don’t care how you hit it. Okay. Walk up to it. Give me feet that are turned out a little bit. Ball left center in your stance with flared out feet. Yep. Okay. Now, do me a favor. Resist it. Relax it. Rotate it as best you can. Resist that thing. Up. Up. Up. Yes. Good try. Great. Do it again. Now, it doesn’t have to go up and stop, but that’s okay. Don’t care that you missed. Take your hands off. Shake them out. Relax. Take your hands off. Shake them out. Get that heel pad on top of that grip. Okay. Away. Okay. Stand that shaft away up. Yep. And I want that more behind you. Good. Now set up to the ball. Resist it high and wide. Relax it. Hit it. Okay. Good try. Now, this thing’s folding you up like a lawn chair on the other side. Yeah. Doesn’t fold me up. Yeah. Okay. I didn’t play professional baseball. I’m just a golf pro. I was a pitcher, so I didn’t bat much. Okay. Good. Okay. Come on. Resist it. Relax it. Rotate it. You got this. Let me get to take a picture of it. Good. Go to the ball. No pauses. Just get that ball more within your feet, please. Scooch to the left with flary feet. There you go. Hands in, club out. Resist that band. You got this. But look at the ball when you’re doing it and hit it. Okay, good try. Do it again. And so you got to get a little crazy with me here. You’re not getting crazy enough for me. Let me get that tea for you. I got it. Okay. Crazy. I’m going to explain it to you in a sec. Okay. Set up to there. Flurry feet. Ball left center. Good. Okay. So, this now as you go back, resist that band, but this club’s got a hinge man up. That’s hinged. Okay. This isn’t okay. That’s hinged. Okay. Set it back down in front of you. Okay. Okay. See how that feels goofy here? See that funky position? Good. Do that again. Show me that funky position. Do it again. Hands in. Hands more in. Club more. Therefore, it’s more up. Guess what it gets to do when it’s up? Gets to shallow more. Hands more in, club more up. No, that’s hands out. Don’t move. Hands in. So, this is you going hands out, club in. Okay. Okay. How about freaking do something the different? There’s hands in, club out. Okay. Okay. This is what it’s going to feel like. Fight that band. Then it’s going to go this way. Come on. Hands in, club out. Yes. Hands in, club out. Good. That’s it. Now, hit one or miss one. I don’t care. Do that same thing, please. Hands in, club out. Hit one. Start. Look at the ball. Stay at the ball. Trust your feels. Okay, come on over. Let’s have a chitchat. Okay, good. Now, just bear with me. Get your good hands on it and just make sure this thing’s not caught up. Is your heel pad in the right spot? Flurry feet, please. So, now you still look at that tee. Okay. Okay, look at that T. The connector’s behind you. Now it’s not. The connector is way behind you. Now it’s not. I want it more over here because when you change direction, where’s it going to go? Down. It’s going to go behind you. If it’s over here and you change direction, it’s going to go this way. Got you get my point. I’m exaggerating to get this. If we start here, we go that way. So go back and give me a connector that’s over there. Yep. 12:00. Show me that feel. Well, that’s 12:00. Yep. Do it more. Exaggerate it. Okay. Exaggerate this more. More. Watch that shadow. See that club pop in there? Do that a couple times. Yes. Yes. I can’t see the shadow there. There you go. Yes. Okay. Now, I know. Take it. Take a second. Take a breather. Take a guy on the left. Day one. Okay, let me save that. Perfect. Okay, now give me that crazy exaggerated top of back swing where you see the shadow of the club over there for me. Good. There you go. Good. That’s it. Now, make a back. Make Make a down swing. Make a down swing. Hit the ball. Try to Good. Okay, watch. I didn’t know there was a ball there. But see where that mass is now? Yeah. See where the club is? Now watch where it’s going to go from there. It’s not going to immediately go toward the target line. It’s going to dump behind you a little bit. See where it drop? See how it goes and starts to drop behind you a bit. Right now, see where it is? And I’ll be and I’ll be honest with you. I wasn’t even really going to first to first base. That just tells me you don’t know what you’re doing. Yeah. Because let me explain. It’s not about swinging to first base. Okay. This is where you’re going to have a little aha moment. It’s about this. Here’s the aha moment there. That was fantastic. It’s not about swinging out to first base cuz the ball’s here. Agreed. Right. Why do we want to swing at first base, you know, or swing, you know what I’m saying? Because we’re going to hit something down there. It’s about this. Why does my club swing to first base? Because the connection point goes behind me and then automatically comes through, kicks it out. Gotcha. Gotcha. So, you don’t even have to do it. It just naturally get the club to to go the right way. You could have too much of it, too. Good players do. With good players, we teach them how to fight that way more. Okay? You know, I’m trying to teach you to get the club up so it goes there so it orbits to first base. You don’t swing it there. And then you’ll get your rightward path. Yep. Okay. Well, that was awesome. Way to go. Actually had made the halfway decent contact. You did. I mean, use a tea and just be nice to yourself.
