[Music] [Music] and welcome to Balboa Park Golf. The nine-hole course prelude to a championship. This is Josh wins 13. It is the day before our 91st club championship. 91st consecutive club championship, too, for what it’s worth. Today, we are going to be having some fun. This is a practice round with some of the top contenders in our entire club. This does not count toward the club championship, but it sure does count toward how fun much fun we can have. So, thank you for watching. We’re going to try to bring this to you in its full and in its entirety. I’m here with Tony. Tony, say hi. Hey. Hey. How’s it going, guys? Tony, how are you doing, man? What’s your What’s your 12-month low handicap? I have a 4.2 as we stand here talking. Very nice. So, are you playing in the 3-day version of the club championship? I am. I’m hopeful to be uh you know if I get a top 10 I’ll be I’ll be stoked for it. Awesome. What’s your personal course record at BOA Park? 75. 75. Right on. Right on. Well hey man good luck today and good luck this weekend more importantly you know. Yeah. Have fun boys. All right. Recognize a couple faces over here. Deep conversation. Say hi, boys. Hello. Hello. We are live on the internet. Wow. I know it’s a whole new system, a whole new plan. This is Art and JVD. JVD, you’ve probably recognized from some of those videos, although it’s been a while. It’s been a while. But my man’s still shooting in the 60s. And Art, the man who just keeps us always going in the forward direction. How you guys doing today? Good, man. It’s freaking hot. So So who’s gonna win? Gross. You or Art? Art for sure. Nice. I don’t think so. I’m the rabbit today. The rabbit. Yeah. All right. Well, we know you can play fast. Play the tortoise, but I’m the hair today. So, sounds good to me, man. Today is about having fun. You know, I remember it was a year ago JVD was demonstrating his his new chipping technique, a a one hop and stop technique. If I I’ve been trying to do that like literally for the past year in my backyard with not very much success. What is your secret to getting that ball to like grab on that first on that first bounce? Well, you got to have a good golf ball to start something that spins for sure. And this stuff right here, this kuya stuff, ball sits up really nicely, so you can put a lot of spin on it in the backyard. That’s kind of tough. Yeah. Anyways, so so kuya, I hear this word and I know I’m supposed to know what it means from like an, you know, agricultural standpoint. sticky sticky grass that the ball sits sits on top of. I know that the only people who seem to know what it is are really good golfers. Like if you know what Kakuya is, that means your handicap is like a five or lower. All right, I’ll take it. I’ll take it. So, what do you think you have to do to win the club championship this week? Uh JVD, like score-wise or score-wise? And and just, you know, what what what’s your key to success? Avoid the big number. play number four, six, and 16. If I play those three holes over three days and like even par to two over, I think you’re doing really, really well. Absolutely. So, and all the other holes are pretty holes. So, now other than yourself, who do you think is the most likely person to win? Oh, it’s got to be Scotland, right? He’s a stud. Are you rooting against Mike? Well, is is there there’s a little rumor going around that is Mike gonna make it? I don’t know. Mike’s a stud, man. So, Mike’s a stud, too. I mean, I’m not counting Mike out at all. I I just thought he wasn’t playing. So, if if right if there’s any health concerns, Scotland seems like a safe bet. He’s certainly a good golfer. He even showed up for today to take everybody’s money. So, he did a little late entry. Yeah, JVD just thought, “A crap, there went mess with us.” He’s a good player, that’s for sure. I can’t wait to see him play. All right. Hey, have a good one, JBD. All right, some more people have started to arrive. Hey, great. Can you check the feed on me? Hey, what’s up, Mark? Mr. President, how you doing? You know, I’m a droll, unassuming individual, but I make up all of that with my fashion sense. I see cents. I don’t see any dollars. Oh, damn. Oh, damn. So, Josh, so Mark, what do you have to do today? I’m, you know, I’m not playing today. I’m I’m just going to document the craziness. Now, what do you need to do to get some money today? Well, um to pay my dental bill. I was in uh the dentist today. Um little uh little uh little uh working behind the scenes. I saw Scotland and I saw Bob and I said, “Okay, guys. I know you’re going to work me for, you know, strokes.” So, that’s where I’m going to get this money. Well, I hope you find your quality golf that is always the uh you know, make I I want to see you in the chip off at the end of at the end of all this. So, you know, play well, man. And also when other people are teeing off on one, everyone’s going to get a chance to do some guest commentary. I can’t wait to hear what Bob says when you tee off. Yeah. Well, I can wait. All right. Well, good luck, man. Hey, there’s a couple faces I recognize. What’s up, Brian? What’s up, Scotland? So, Scotland I ran into at the SCGA Amateur Championship. What’d you finish? Tied for 16th. Like, that’s pretty solid. Now, do you do you consider that good or bad? I mean, I’m just curious. Oh, this is like my home course, so I there’s a part of me that thought I could win, but it was definitely set up for the Bombers, so that’s not my game. I’m not carrying a 320. So, but yeah, this is solid. I made the cut on the number with a birdie on the last hole. No, no, not just a birdie in the last hole. Birdie bogey birdie if I if I if if what I saw was correct. That talk about a ride, man. Ijacked stretched out the drama. I did. That’s really cool. And And your 12 month low handicap index is a plus 4.1, which is insane. But I bet that’s not even What’s like the best you can ever remember your handicap being? I Yeah, I don’t think it’s gotten It’s always four is probably the best. That’s all he’s got. Okay. I mean, I saw like the kid that won after winning and posting those great rounds, he went to a plus 7.2 and I think that’s basically Yeah. So, that’s like pro golfer right there. You know, he was playing behind me the first couple of rounds and dude, he was all over the place. Really? Yeah. So, he cuz I think he played bad the first round that guy together. You’re right. And then he like tore it up in the second round on the North Course and then just really got it together. Great kid though from what I could see. Like a really nice kid. Yeah. He Long Beach. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. He had his teammates out there rooting for him, the whole deal. Uh, now your current index went up to a plus 3.6 or down, I guess, as the case may be, which is pretty solid, too, by the way. So, you you know, some somebody picked you as like, you know, in the top three for most likely to win the club championship this year will remain nameless, but other than yourself, who do you think is the most likely person to win this year’s club championship? Dude, put the pressure on Mike. Yes. Two time defending champion. Don’t bring that heat on me. Mike says he’s the underdog, though. He says he’s the underdog. No way, dude. Mike gets all the heat. Now, now, now, what is your personal course record from Baloa on the Blues? I don’t think I’ve ever gone more than like four or five under. I don’t I’ve never So, just just a lowly 68, maybe 67. Josh, what does Josh shoot? Like 63 with three clubs. Yeah. From the red TE’s, he’ll say over and over again. And it was 64. So, the the modern-day record, by the way, in one of our events, from what I’ve heard, is none other than our 2013 club champion, Joe Tinsley, who who carted a 63 once. Tom Wall carded the 64. So, I don’t know. May maybe that that’s what we’re looking for if you want to really get into history. I don’t know if I got Well, all with all the accolades you’re getting. Hey, man, we’re wishing you nothing but the best. Scotland, putting all this pressure on you. Quit pressure, man. Dude, you’re you’re you’re a pretty darn good golfer, man. And you’ve got good vibes written all over you. Hey, man. Play well, dude. I don’t even know who they are. What’s up, Brian? How you doing, man? Great. Are you ready for some club championship golf? Oh, yeah. I’m so ready. You’ve had a pretty good season, too, man. Didn’t you shoot par for the first time in the last 12 months, or am I making that up? I think you’re making that up. Okay. All right. But you you’ve been like shooting at or around par now, like on a somewhat regular basis. No. No. No. I’m making this up completely. I’m ready to career. All right. I think you’re gonna have a fantastic tournament, man. That’s what I think, dude. Yeah. Now, other than yourself, who is your prediction for who’s gonna win this year? I mean, Scotland, I think I’ve been following his amateur career a while, and he’s very, very good. So, I think he’s he’s the man to beat. I think so. Well, Mike Mike will tell you he’s the underdog. So, Mike is the underdog. That’s what he’ll tell you. Of course. JDD. Uh Lawson is always a dark horse. I mean, it’s going to be very exciting. Absolutely, man. Well, play well, man. Play well. Thank you. Uh-oh. There’s been a rare sighting. It’s like a rare Pokemon sighting. What’s up, Mike? How you doing? How are you, dude? There he is. The goat. Backto back winner going for three in a row. Mike, how you feeling? You know, I’m feeling all right. Um, we’ll see. A little bit. The last month’s been kind of rough, but we’ll see. I’ve been rehabbing like crazy, so hopefully uh hopefully it goes well. So, you’ve pegged yourself as an underdog, and it seems like people are picking Scotland, so maybe you are the underdog here, but not in my book, man. Absolutely. You know, you’re you’re you’re the goat, dude. You you’ve done this before. Now, how have you been so successful in this club championship? Like, why is it that the really good golfers always seem to come up a little short? I mean, let’s let’s turn our focus back on the Scotland. No, I mean I don’t know. I just uh I think maybe one of my keys is I don’t really put too much pressure on myself. I don’t come out with a ton of expectations. I don’t feel like I need to win or I have to win. I just come out and play and if it happens, it happens. I mean, you know, ice water in your veins would be accurate. You know, anyone who’s seen you play just you don’t seem to get rattled by anything and so that has to be a big part of it, man. Because while other people might get overly excited like myself, you’re always chill. Yeah, I I’m okay with the results either way. I’ve kind of like I think that’s a kind of a key of mine. I’m kind of at peace. If I play good, play bad. Obviously, like anyone else, competitive, I want to play well. But, you know, I you know, golf’s a lot of lot of positives, a lot of negatives. So, you got to be able to ride them both. And you know, if things don’t go well, there’s always the next event, there’s always the next year. So, so I asked Kathan Ready what he thought the winning score would be and he said six under par for the overall championship. You’ve now won it two years in a row. I think about one or two under. You’ve been there before. Two under last year. Last year I think three the year before. I mean I can see I mean six is possible. It’s not um everyone remember last year we were kind of saying the same number and then just like three days out here um you know the last few days you’re in the you’re in the back half. It’s a slow grindy round. Um it wears on you mentally so it’s it’s hard to sometimes keep it going. So I mean six is doable. I would on let’s say four 400. All right. Well you heard it man. Mike we got a lot of people rooting for you. I know the internet’s rooting for you. Everyone who’s always commenting on these kinds of videos is Mike is the goat. Mike, it’s always Mike. Mike. Mike. And I know you’re always like, “No, no, underdog. Underdog.” But the reality is, dude, you you are where you are for a reason. And it’s and it’s fun to watch you play golf, man. Appreciate it. Thank you. Hey, good good luck, man. However, though, in the 90 years at this club, we may have not seen a a finer golfer. What a bullshitter. I I mean, I did hear Bob Grace once Mike’s life. 90 years of this club. This might be one of the finest. Yeah. [ __ ] off. Yeah. How many How many three three time in a row champions are there? Tom Wolver. Yeah. Tom has a chance to make it four. And he’s confident. He’s playing. He’s shooting under par. You might have a seat, Mike. I’m here to serve the club champion. I mean, we’re talking about part of number one amateur in San Diego. What’s up, Nick Neil? I mean, Scotland Schmidt. Mike’s got some phantom injury. He’s already making up excuses. I mean, he he goes like this, Scott. He goes, he might be the most decorated. He might be the most decorated player in a 90 years with this club. So, I mean, wasn’t he like a player of the year before and stuff like that? Or didn’t you ever win player of the year? No. You’ve never won like an SCGA player of the year or anything like that? No. All right. But but you’ve won like the mid amateur championship, right? What have you won? You’ve won the the amateur championship. I’ve never won anything. You’ve never won anything? I don’t believe that for a second. Admiral Baker Club. I sand I I reverse sandbag my handicap. How many Admiral Baker? I reverse sand. That’s nice. Never post the bad ones. The good ones. Yeah. Yeah. You mean the ego handicap? Yeah. You can’t even help us in team play. He’s like a plus five. I mean, he’s good, but There we go. That’s the one. Can’t be a plus five. Uh JVD hitting chip shots is one of the coolest things ever. as he tries to get spin on it. Oh, that looked like one of my shots. I’m like, what’s wrong with that? So, Josh decided to bring this today to match the color scheme. Figured on the nine. You’re a colorful character, Mark. You want to bring the new AI card? a lot better. So, he’s starting to sleep over the night, which is great. She’s the one that doesn’t wake me up. I’ll wake up in the morning and be like, “Yeah.” What’s up, Bel Dubs? How you doing, man? I’m doing well. You ready for some club championship? Go. Let’s go. I’m glad to see you out on the course, man. Hey, last year. Yeah. We’re not We don’t even need to talk about that. You know, pay your dues and you come out and now I can play. Having some fun today, man. All right. Listen, what do you need to do to win this thing? Uh, hole in one. Hole in one. I’ll take it on video. Yo, if you get a whole one on video, man, I’m buying you some beer. Let’s go. Hey, play well today, Lee. Are you playing today? Yeah. No, I’m filming, but I’m I’m playing this weekend when I’m not filming. I’m not planning on sleeping over the next four days. So, at least there’s that. What? Is that off? No, it’s on. It’s bad. We’re actually streaming live. Nice. I was going to say the videos have been great. Well, thank you, man. I appreciate that. Friends have just watch them, too. So, that’s very cool. I appreciate that. All right. Yeah, man. You, too. Mr. Froia, how you doing, man? Very good. This is This is Nick Frachia, right? Like the act like your brother’s one who’s not a very good golfer, right? He’s okay. He’s okay. Get outside of the sun here. Hold on. Now, you on the other hand are a good golfer, man. And your handicap is what nowadays? Uh, on paper it’s a 1.8. And what is your personal low round here at Balboa? It’s one under. One under. So yo man, three of those and you got this thing. Three of those. I mean, speaking of which, what do you think you need to do to win the club championship? Uh, steady Eddie. Steady Eddie. You’re going to try to imitate Mike. I It’s not a bad idea, actually. That’s the goal. Yeah, right. That’s the goal. Yeah. Um, just get off to a good start. Um, and then see see what happens from there. Yeah. Any expectations or hopes for the for the week? Like, oh, I’d be happy if I finish top blap or you just win or nothing? Yeah. I think I think there’s a ton of good players out here. I think a realistic expectation would be final group, I’ll be happy. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely. Yeah, I could see that. We’ve got, I don’t know, at least a dozen plus golfers in this tournament, which is a pretty significantly high percentage considering. Right. Right. So, there’s some guys who can play and we’re going to get to watch it all. Yep. So, hey, man, play well today and play well this weekend. All right. Appreciate it. Good to see you. Yep. All right, we are gathered around ready getting ready for the first te. Hey, Derek. How much time do we have till first tea? 9 minutes. 9 minute warning as we are just waiting for has everybody arrived at this point? Uh we’re waiting only on our most official member. Oh yeah. Where is he? He’s in route. I heard there was some marking of the 16th hole today for the tournament this weekend. Uh in terms of exactly where the the hazard or the penalty line will be. I’m think I’m I’m speaking more of a a more official like more official of a member. Matt, more official. Who’s that? Blossom. Oh, that guy. Yes. Well, I heard he’s scared. Yeah, I heard he’s like scared. Law dog, isn’t he like, you know, he’s in route. Worried. He’s in route. He’s in route. That’s good. That’s good. He’s He’s being a very good son. Well, that’s You know what? He’s a good guy. He’s got his mother in town, so he’s spending as much time with her as possible. Nice. I also know that Joe Tinsley couldn’t be here today. We we’re hoping to see him maybe on Sunday, but I definitely a huge shout out to our man, the OG 2013 club champion, the guy who set the modern day course record in one of the Balo events at 63. Joe, I’m sorry you couldn’t be here today, but man, we are definitely thinking about you. And I know you said, man, you are just thinking about us, too. And you just can’t wait to get back out here. Well, we hope to see you soon, Joe. The one record you forgot to mention is that the most consecutive no-shows in a row, Joe. Yeah. By any member? Oh, and what do you know? Do you know what that number is? I mean, I don’t I think it’s in the 20s. 20s. Nice. Nice. Excellent. Good streak going. It’s currently active. Does that pay anything? Is there a pay is there a payout for that? Um, you know, we might start running some side action on that, I think. Nice. Nice. Well, hey, by the way, Derek is the organizer of the prelude for a championship, which is this event today. And just big kudos, man, because this really just helps set us off on the right foot for the tournament. Gets everybody in a good mood. And as you said, it’s the d-stress before the stress. Just hats off. Well done, sir. Thank you. That’s what we got all the beers in our hands for to enjoy it today cuz tomorrow everybody here is going to be serious. There’s going to be a lot of guys not talking. I’m still trying to understand why there’s a Toronto Blue Jays shirt on a guy that is always wearing Padres’s gear. Still, it’s odd to me. Um, it’s odd, but we’ll we’ll we’ll get through it today. I think Yeah, I know. I’m curious to see how Mike the claiming he’s not ready physically, but I know he’s going to be good cuz he always is. Marin. Yeah. Well, you know, when you you play golf like an old lady and you keep it down the middle and you make those long putts all the time, you really don’t need to be physically strong or able. Who do you Who do you think wins this year? Oh, I’m never good at that. I’m the worst. I I I pick uh I pick Matt. 68. What’s up, Matt? How you doing? Matt Matt’s going to win. Matt, who is one of the officials here who keeps this tournament in this golf course running an insta. What’s up, Matt? Say hi. What’s happening, guys? Hey, man. Thanks for joining us today. I hear you’re out here for a little bit of our fun, right? Thanks for having me, man. No, it is our pleasure. You know, we got some of the best golfers in San Diego. Now, I’ve never se I don’t know if any of these guys have ever seen you play. I assume you’re decent, though, right? I play with Derek once. Yeah. Like, what’s your handicap? I’m an eight right now. An eight. Okay. Well, I would say that’s good. I mean, anytime, you know, I’m thriving to get one day into the single digits and I’m not there yet. So, an eight is good in my book, man. All right. Well, it’s great to see you out here, dude. Yeah. Thanks for having me. Absolutely. [Music] Tim New, how you doing? What’s up, Josh? How are you, man? Lucky. Lucky. How are you, brother? Welcome to the prelude to a championship. Tim New ready to show his stuff out here today. The luckiest man on the planet. How’s uh how’s retirement going, Tim? Oh, I love it, man. I I kind of lost like what day it is, you know, the day the week. That’s that that’s only the the the downside. I could not track what day it is. But beside that, life beautiful, man. Absolutely, man. Well, hey, listen. Great to see you out here, dude. I know, dude. All right, this is Josh wins 13. We are about to go onto our second stage here, hitting the first T at the Ball Park 9hole course. Not sure who’s in the first group, but we’re going to find out. All right, let’s head over to the first. That’s driveable. Okay. On the I feel like I’m in jail. On the par4 is drivable. I’m in here for gambling habits. Uh, the par4 is drivable. You are to, it’s the second shot, right, that’s closest to the pin. If you drive the green, you are forced to use Lily’s putter. It will be laying on the green for you to use. That will be not your putter. If you But if you second shot, you’re good. But if you drive the green for you long hitters, number six, right? Seven, I think. Six and seven are both. Okay. Whatever the 222 yard one is, I’ve looked at it so many times now. I’m confused. What is it? Seven. Seven. We check with the judges. Seven. Quit trying to make me sideways. What’s up, Jeff? How you doing? I’m doing great, Josh. Good to see you, man. Hey, Dan. Josh. He’s a buddy of mine. Dan W. Hey Dan, how you doing? Nice to meet you. Say hi. How’s it going? Nice to meet you, too. Here, Mark, hold this for a second. Okay. I know you hate holding microphones, right Mark? Uh, yeah. So, what are we doing here today, Mark? Why are we here? Why are we here? Yeah. I don’t know. You you you sent you you and Bob set this all up. You lured me into this. Not me. It’s Derek. Oh, that’s right. Derek, I’m sorry. Uh Derek who? Um, yeah. It looks like a lot of fun. Little uh warm-up for our club championship. Good friends right here. at home. Now, are you in the first group off the tea? No, I’m in the last group. Last group off the tea. All right. But I’m with Scotland. I’m with Bob and I don’t know who our fourth is. So, Bob will be doing the commentating when you’re hitting your shot. Yeah. Yeah. Can’t wait for that. Now, now do you want to do the commentary when Dererick’s hitting his shot? Uh, sure. Sure. I think we’re about ready to tee off on a [ __ ] All right. All right, we’re making our way over to the first te. So, the nine-hole course, we’ve got several groups. I think we got about six groups going off. A bunch of games along the way, some closest to the pins, long drives and whatnot. And then at the end, a chip off and a putt off on the putting green in front of the main clubhouse. Should be a great day. and we want to thank you for joining us. So, if you haven’t been to the Baloa Park par three course or nine-hole course, there are nine holes. Most of them are threes, some are fours, and they get added to the 18hole Baloa championship course for a total of 27 playable golf holes here at Baloa Park Golf. [Music] Everybody help me in the finals, right? Everybody, the more guys that beat me, the more Yes. The worse art are the worse you play, the more people get into the putt off and chip off. The worse I play, yes, the better. Now, now the question is, do you get in no matter what? In which case, if you play well, you could have the chip off to yourself. I’m not looking for that. I’m looking for these guys to get warm and cozy and enjoy it. And cuz I’m just out here because tomorrow I start collecting money again. Nice. Well, we appreciate everything you do, Art. Almost anything. Now Josh, uh, I don’t think you’re in the first group, right? Cool. So, you’re going to be the commentator for the first group. Yeah. As they hit their t-shots, we’re going to have a little rotational commentating today. You know, let everybody get a chance here. Are you playing today? Today? No. No. I I cannot I’ve I’ve learned the hard name on the list. So, I That was a placeholder. A placeholder because, you know, we just we It would have been Someone’s got a film, right? Someone’s got to film. And I’ve learned it’s hard to do that while you’re talking and playing at the same time. That’s right. It’s like, you know, patting your stomach and rubbing your head or something like that. Seems pretty tough. Yes. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. For sure. I am playing in the actual championship. I think it’s closest to Southerntherland. Where are you? Southerntherland. Yeah. So, our first group off will include Art Wells. And part of the competition today is whatever Art’s net score is. Anyone who beats it gross gets into the playoffs at the end for the chip off put off where a winner take all for what will probably be several hundred. JBD is going to be on the mic for this first group. You want me to walk all the way up to the the green because I got to come back and hit my shot. No, no, no. I want you right back here. You just This is, you know, I want a chance to hear everybody’s voice, you know. Yeah. This isn’t about just one person talking. Except here’s the thing, JVD. Uh Mike has wanted revenge for a while. So, he’s going to be commentating on when your group is going. Mike, you’re the third group up. I believe uh when JVD’s group is up, you’re going to be doing the commentary. is trying to get on me. Well, he’s group two. He’s going to be doing the commentating for the group in front. Then when he’s teeing off, you get to go. All right. What kind of revenge are you talking? He’s trying to get on me. Well, I don’t know. I’ve never beat him before. No, no, not not I’m talking verbal abuse. Oh, verbal abuse. He’s never He’s never done that to me. He’s He’s a good guy. Stuff like 90 years of Palpo Club history. That might be one of the finest shots. That is the greatest three iron ever. I was going to Well, thank you all for watching. Hopefully the broadcast is coming through loud and clear. All right, we got Mr. Art Wells here leading off the group. We got what, 20 of us today, something like that. First hole, short little part three. Uh I don’t know what it’s playing. Maybe 130, something like that. I think you want to try to put it on the green. Little right to left wind. Art elected to keep that under the wind. And it’s chasing up. It’s chasing up. It’s chasing up. Looks like a net par. That was a That was a British open shot if I’ve ever seen one. [Laughter] All right, who’s next? All right, who’s up next in this uh group of champs here? What group? We got Derek Wells, the net scorer and Dan Dun. His net scorer. You got to beat that gross if you want to get into the finals here. Looks like next up will be our own Matt Mr. President from the Derek’s tournament, formerly the SS Titanic. What’s up, Brett? What’s up, Pres? What’s up, baby? Hey, Chris Lawson has arrived. Looks like everyone has joined. Although, the one person I haven’t seen is Bob Graid somewhere. I can’t wait. Good. Good. Don’t like taking a half day vacation. Come out and hang out with you. Beautiful, right? Slow play will not be tolerated. Oh, no. If you drive seven, you have to use Lily’s putter as your second shot. All right. Drive seven. That’s the second shot to the closest. [Music] Not not the way we putter first. Got Matt here, Alboa employee. He’s out here making sure we don’t mess anything up. Nice solid swing there. Right edge of the green and he’s dancing. First one to hit the green. Next up is D Love. Watch out. Watch this tempo. How good it is. He’s not using a T. Jack Nicholas said if you can use a T, you always can. You always should. I saw you were in our group originally. That is right at it. It looks like be a little deep maybe. Oh, short. Wow, my eyes are toast. All right, that’s three. Who do we got next? Dunai. Is this Dan Duncan? Dan Duncan. Everybody damage wasn’t here, so I had to help him. He’ll be here. I know he’s driving. [ __ ] He’ll be here on He’ll greet us on the ninth floor most likely. [Music] a little chunky there. And the first group is off. All right. Thank you, JBD, man. We appreciate the expertise. We’ve already seen how skilled you are. Next up on the microphone, the man, the myth, the legend. What’s up, Mike? Mike has said, you know, Mike never gets a chance to commentate because he’s always in the lead group. He’s always winning these things. And so, at least now you have a group in front of you. You can watch them play. So, we got JVD, Chris Lawson, Brian Lynn. Yeah. Let’s see. Are those We’ve got Oh, L. Dubs. No, no, no, no. I’m with L Dubs. Oh, no. No. Tony Josh Lawson. Okay. I’ll have fun with this crew. And Brian Lynn. Heck yeah. Oh, yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. announcer Mike. Yeah, you’re playing now. I’m playing. Yes, you know it is. You announce for the group in front of you and so he’s going to announce whoever is going off now. Are you teeing off now or Oh, perfect. So, yes, Mike will be announcing your shot. This is like the Masters part two basically today, but I don’t think it was last year. I think if I remember right, it was Dockkins and I we tied and we know how last year turned out on the That’s right. Do really well. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It was where you were barefoot on the putting green and like that somehow that short clip got like 10,000 views at a time where like I was getting no views and it was all because of the barefoot putt and it looked like in the if you look at it closely it looked like you picked it up before it went in the hole because like the angle just cut and I had to like be like no he actually made it several times. But you never know what’s going to go viral. Let’s try it. That’s that’s only Yogi that can go viral. He got mad at me. All right. Well, let’s try and keep the shoes on today and let’s try and play by the rules of golf. [Music] Hey, it’s Bob Crusade. What’s up, Bob? How you doing? Good to see you, man. Uh-huh. So listen, not right now because Mike is going to be commentating for this group, but the group that’s gonna be on the team. I heard they changed. No, you’re the last group. Yeah. Yeah. Don’t worry. We’ll tell you when you’re up. And and and before you’re up, when the group in front of you is going, you’re going to be commentating on us. On not on us, on the people who are playing. Yeah. Everyone wants to hear your voice. Oh, sure. Who wouldn’t? Good to see you, Bob. I’ll work on getting my commentator voice. Yes. Well, well, well, well, well. Mike is about to get his revenge on JVD. He’s going to commentate on JVD’s shot. So, we’ll see how that goes. All right. Well, let’s have some fun today and this weekend, right? Okay. Cool. Looks like they’re still off the green, huh? [Music] It’s to prevent the wind, man. Little fur, baby. Yeah. That’s the things they’re selling at. All right. Hello. What’s up, Tony? Good luck. I didn’t recognize you from the hat. Good luck. Uh, thanks. Three in a row. Yeah. As far as you can tell, as far as I can tell, um, I’ve been hitting shots off Mats, which hasn’t been great for us. So, hitting off grass today will be better. I did play on Monday and got in 18 holes, so we’ll see. Um, today’s going to be a good barometer. Yeah, absolutely. [Music] [Music] Still got a few minutes before here. Go interview Chris real quick. Here. Chris Lawson. Yeah, Chris Lawson. Hey, this is Chris Lawson. Chris, you’re you’re Mike is going to be interviewing you. Mike, do you think Chris has a chance to beat you in this tournament? To beat me? I think Chris has a chance to win this thing. I mean, he’s a past champion. You seen some good golf with from him in those uh TV? I’m well rested. He’s well rested. Chris Chris, do you think you have a chance to beat Mike? I 100% have a chance to win. I think that anybody that uh you I think you got you got you got 10 15 guys out here that if they play well absolutely does. Um I think that Mike’s the primitive favorite as well. He should be being the back-to-back champion and he will be there in a final group getting videotaped by you on Sunday. No doubt. Like you can send that to the bank. Um would I like to be with him? Absolutely. So, the reality is I’m a softball and a baseball coach now, not a golfer. I’ve played about 10 rounds since I got back from Bandon in January. Uh, but like I said, I’m well rested. We’ll see which way we’re going to hit it today and go have fun tomorrow. He’s the best driver of the golf ball in the club, so don’t count him out. Sometimes I’m sure Chris won’t be thinking about the 16th hole tomorrow. Unless Unless he’s not, then it’s then it then it gets a little dicey. Good. Like this one. Yeah. Oh, bad. It can get a little It is like the hottest day of the summer. I know. I’m like really today the day, you know. No, I heard they were going to roll them for tomorrow, but I don’t know. I I don’t have actually the reliable source is going to be the guy up there, right? Yeah. All right. Here we go at the showcase group of the day. Hey, how are you, man? We got some heavyweights of the club in this group. Started with Brian Lynn. [Music] He went viral last year putting barefoot on the screen. That was pure drawn in there. Spinning. It’s going to be really good. Really good. Great shot by Brian Lynn. like eight iron chop down and now we got JVD. By the way, I if you’re listening to this famous for I want you to add a comment and tell us who you think was the best commentator for two clubs and a putter 64. Amazing. I don’t think there’s a pro or amateur in San Diego that could have matched that. Two clubs and a putter. That’s ridiculous. JVD drawn it in similar. It’s a little short front edge. Okay. The shots always a little bit into the wind. It’s 118, but probably plays like 125. All right, we got Chris Lawson, former champion. Like I said earlier, one of the best drivers of the golf ball, long and straight. Some say he gets crooked, but I’ve never seen it personally. He’s pretty straight. drawn in there too. This looks really good. Spin really looking good inside Belin. It’s a great shot. Hard to tell where the pin is, but it’s about six feet. All right, we got Tony. Can’t pronounce his last name. It’s a tough one. Kind of like my last name. So, he’s drawing it in there. Just go a little bit. Little short. All right, another group off. Mikey, thank you. And now, while you play Thank you, Paulie. How you doing, man? I’m fine. Excellent. I’m doing well, man. I’m doing well. Here is our 2018 club champion, Paul Rathbon. That’s pretty. Hey, man. Not as long as Chris. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Before me, you’re right. That’s right. Now, listen. For the next group of four people that are teeing off, I’d like you to do the commentating for uh you’re not in this group, so Bob will be doing your commentating. Okay. But but for these next four people, Paul Rathbun on the microphone. Awesome. Uh, let’s see. Now, you might want to know who’s in this group. Uh, Mike Marin is in this group. Oh, yeah. Lee L. Dubs is in this group. I believe Sutherland and Tim New. Not sure. No, Sutherland and Harris, I believe. But we’ll see. Quality group. Quality group. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, Mike, you know, he’s the goat, right? Uh, that’s what we’re led to believe. Yeah. Now, now you win it two times in a row and you go for three, you’re putting yourself in some uh rare echelon. Yeah. There’s only like two other people that I know that have done that that have won three or Yes, there’s three or four. There’s only Correct. four. There’s only like two or three max. That That’s really rare. Three. There’s like six. And he he barely even plays anymore. We don’t even mention his name. He has the same initials as a really good player, TWW. Rumor has it he’s been playing well though, so he has Yeah, that’s his trick. He just quits and drinks wine and then all of a sudden he’s just back to what he normally does. Totally. Maybe he will make an appearance. I didn’t even see him on the sheet. Is is is he playing today? No, but clutch. Yes. Oh, we’re going to we’re Oh, I thought we weren’t going to mention his name. Yes. Tom Oliver. Yes. Yes. Yes. Mr. T. Now, uh the the actually the Mr. T who won’t be playing, but we we do hope to see you a little bit on Sunday. Big shout out to our friend Joe Tinsley. Oh, JT. My paw. Yeah. Yeah. The OG 2013 champ. Yes. Of all the active members, he’s the one who kind of won first. Yeah. He’s a He’s a senior champ as well. He’s a He’s a decorated member. He’s wellliked by many, not so much by the pro shop staff. All right. Now, oh, they’re still on the green waiting here. So, you have some time to work out your oneliners. Oh, I’m I’m rocked. I’m ready. Mike, don’t be nervous. I will say that last year during this event, by far the best commentary was from this guy right here, Paul. I learned from the best, Joe Tinsley. Now, we spoke up recently. Although I don’t see Dopkins here to to to for for an outfit. He’ll probably show up here wearing some purple monstrosity. Mike, what club you hitting here? Wedge. Which wedge? Pitching wedge. Okay. And now is that a full pitching wedge or kind of a knockdown? Oh, it can’t be. I want to throw it behind a little bit. So, I’m not going to take too much off to be honest. I mean, everyone else seemed like they were short, right? There’s a little wind here. I don’t think I mean the winding around. Yeah, you can you can feel it. I mean, it looks like Mark made up for the fact that Steven’s not here. Those shoes look like they were rolled through a highlighter factory. Well, he was very He actually pointed out that his shoes match his golf bag. So, his golf bag, you can tell which one, you know, it’s the redy orange one over Yeah, it’s the neon orange to match all the subdued colors I’m wearing. That’s fine. You lost weight? Yes, I’ve lost weight. That’s what everybody says to me. I’m even wearing white. I didn’t even put on dark colors. I’m wearing a white shirt and you’re all telling me I look small. It’s See, Mark can give you crap cuz like our new Padre, I have also been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. That’s true. You did tell me that. So, it’s [ __ ] old. Stop. It’s It’s old hat. I’m also hitting the ball shorter. I’ll probably end up hitting wedge like Mike. You hitting the ball short? I don’t know. Are you still going to hit driver on 16? Why wouldn’t I? It’s a par five. I don’t know. Time will tell. Contention brings out a lot of different game. Can’t see too well what’s happening at the green. I think uh is this is this Lawson trying to putt out here? He’s gonna take him like three or four putts though. He’s you know I’ve seen Chris miss a few short ones. Oops. Sorry. Yeah. I mean, we can all remember what you said about his drive on the 16th hole last year when I played as Macho Man Randy Savage. Well, it has been a while since he’s been in contention. He did not get me off the hook on that for a while. He thought it was me yelling quack quack. Oh, I think he made it. Starts off with a deuce. Wow. looked like he just looked for the crowd, you know? He got up, kind of looked around waiting for the applause, but there was nobody there. Oh, yeah. I don’t know. He loves the attention. Oh, be to have notoriously tinkering with putters. Oh, yeah. Up yours, Chris. All right. Everybody’s got equal opportunity for hate. Mr. Wannabe 3 Pete at the tea. Do believe he played the best in this event last year. Uh yeah, we were talking about I think he tied with Doppkins in terms of a low score. Yes. Yes. Oh, he wanted to hit it behind the flag. I think he did exactly what he wanted and just uh just where you want to be. Looks like a pretty good ball. Looks about 4:00 from the pin location. Putting uphill. Oh, here’s somebody that hits the ball very high. He showed me uh his finger right before this. He went uh he went spelunking, I guess, or rock climbing, one of the two, and something landed on his finger. Uh he’s actually got a hole cut in the nail of his glove for this massive black finger to stick through. [Music] Lub. It’s not too bad. Drawing a little left of the pin. It’s got a chance. No. Short. The finger pain got to him. Mike still one to the tea. 10 finger grip here. Nice low flight straight in at the pen. This looks pretty. Nice. That is tight. Did he Did he How tight? That almost went in. Did that go in? I don’t see it did not. I see. Oh, you see two? Oh, I do. It is right there. That would have been nice. blank. So, my contacts aren’t flared up. That’s incredible. Well done, Mike. Jeff Harris coming up. A man that once didn’t give me a three-foot putt and uh well, I’ll never forgive him for it. Revenge is a microphone. No, he’s one of my favorite people in this club. Paulie, you’re one of my favorite people in this club. That’s lovely. I’m glad I can can keep up with standards. Oh, it’s live the whole time. Make it pretty cuz the black shoes, white socks, and plaid shorts combo is not Can’t put it off anymore. Oh, you’re fine. Steven Hopkins has shown up by the way. Oh, not even that colorful. He’s got purple on that. I’m behind this group. Can’t wait. Shot clock. slapped it left up there. He’ll have a good chip. Thank you, Paulie. All right. Much appreciated, man. Next up on the microphone, Mr. Bob Grace. What’s up, Bob? You get to go next. What’s up, Howie? How you doing? Now, you are going to be commentating on the next group of individuals, including Paul, who are teeing off. Well, it was with me. What happened? I’m depressed. No, don’t be depressed. I’m depressed. Be happy. No, I was looking forward to playing with Paul. I know, but he asked out. No, he didn’t ask out. He No, I I you know, but you get to play with uh uh Scotland and and who else? Weedened off. And we thought Hen was going to be with us. That’s why I wore this. That’s why I wore this because I thought Mikey I even had new shorts, but they didn’t quite The greens were too far apart. It was like, no, I can’t do that. Not even me. If I’d had that, that would have been better because that’s close. Mine were a little too like weed though. Stevens, what’s happening, my man? How you doing? I’m well. I’m well. Yeah, it’s good to see you out here, man. Thank you. You know, it was it is prelude for a championship time. You know, it was a year ago. We had some fun out here. You played well, too, if I recall, man. Thank you. Yeah, better two years ago, but uh yeah. How’s your uh 2025 season going? It’s good. It’s good. I got through uh USM first stage and missed it on the second, but everything’s going upwards, right? Absolutely, man. Absolutely. What’s your low round of the year? 69, I believe. I think I Oh, I saw 71 the other day. Yeah, that’s right, man. Under par. That’s what you need. Good. Three. Three in a row. You could be in that final group, man. Yes. Yes. Well, we’re rooting for you. What are you wearing today? What’s the outfit? What’s the look? I don’t know. Whatever I found on my floor, you know. On your floor. All right. All right. Cool. Well, hey, man. Good luck, dude. All right. Thank you. Wow. Did you watch Did you watch the women’s uh women’s? Yeah. No. What women? Oh, abandoned. Yeah. No. I have not. Kind of nice. Kind of like remember that whole Oh, yeah. No, it’s fun. It’s fun when they’re playing you’re playing courses that you’ve played. And and the announcer, he keep repeating how beautiful this property is. It’s like, man, we feel good. That’s it. you know, been like so like Port Rush when we were watching the British issues. Yeah. So, I played there a punch and my buddy Aki came with us on the last trip. He sent me a text. He’s like, “You know, watch it. Watch golf. I remember play with you.” And I’m like, “Yeah, well, you’re playing a little better than you and I did.” You know, you know, talk about course you play and you can watch. Yeah. This the man right here. I watch his video all the time. Especially the championship from previous year. Did you see the one where you were climbing out of the woods? Oh my god. I haven’t seen that yet. Are you serious? Oh my god. You haven’t even seen that yet? Oh, you haven’t been watching the videos then, huh? It’s in at least two of them. No, I keep I keep watching the the whatever the YouTube gave me the suggestions the Oh, really? Oh, yeah. You got to check them. I mean there at least in I mean certainly two or three of the videos you are absolutely in one maybe in the intro you know. Yeah. No it was it was hilarious man. Oh man that something along the things we go through to try to hit a golf ball. That that that was true golf round man. How how struggle golf was. Oh my god. Actually you and I we didn’t play well. No we we we we pooped the bed man. That’s for sure. But it’s all right. You know, we’re having fun and that’s what matters, right? I’m glad I’m glad you captured a video. Very old. Wow. So, you sir, so Benjamin. So, even though that’s a Partigus, Benjamin was the son, if you familiar with Monorristos in Cuba, he was the Menendez and Menendez and Garcia. So Benji Benji was the son that was running the pack. Today I’m not playing. Today I’m filming. Today I’m not playing. Today I’m just filming. Yeah, I’m I’m I’m just not bringing this home for everybody else. And if you’re still listening, thank you for not just hanging up on this ridiculous broadcast. I’m nervous before when I get before a camera. You know, I don’t see a dollar bill. So that relaxes me. You know, all I know is some people when I hold up the microphone, they grab it. Yeah. And and some people will will will say, “No, I don’t want it.” I’ve been trying to give that mic to Bob for like an hour now, and he doesn’t want to take it. But what he doesn’t know is as soon as this guy makes his putt, he’s going to take it. Yes. All right, Bob, you’re on. Oh, yeah. Now, Benji’s here, sir. All right, Bob, you’re on. Our first up. Oh, no worries. Hey, do us proud. So, commentating for this group, Bob Graas fielded offers once from both ESPN and the Golf Channel. chose to just stick it out with us here at Babo Park. Yeah, lucky me. Lucky me. This is a much better paying gig. All right, we have Nick Frachia here on the tea. He’s probably got not enough club. We’ll see. And there it is. Well struck a great line. If it’s the right distance, we might have something here. Spin. Oh, he had more than enough club. Boy, one less club on that line and we might have had a a winner like the last group. Now, my former playing partner and former champ, not of this event, but of the club championship, Paul Wrathman. Oh. Oh, that’s a different route. Wouldn’t have thought to try that shot, but okay. Um, yeah, that didn’t go so well. Yeah. Yeah. Didn’t see any pine cones fall out of that tree bladed into, but that’s okay. Now, Steven Doppkins. Hopefully his hands aren’t sore from milking cows all day. Oh, that looks pretty good. It’s coming around almost too much maybe. Yeah, but good distance. Just spun off the front left of the green. Oh, a lot of spin on that. I retracted my That was close and then it wasn’t. And now the newly retired Tim New is relaxed. What a fine looking cigar in his thing. I don’t know what that thing is on his belt, but we’ll figure that out later. Oh. Oh, it needs a big big big roll. Big bounce. No, didn’t get it. All right. And that group is off, leaving us with just one final great group to go. Man, one final great group and we’re missing our fourth. Who’s your fourth? Mr. Hen. Well, no, but you’ve got Oh, well, you’ve got three here. Yeah. And you? Well, me. I’m I’m I’m here for the camaraderie. Yeah. Yeah. I can’t say what happened here. I was hoping Mr. Hen was going to be here. That’s why I’m wearing green. That’s why we’re all wearing green cuz we thought we were playing with Mike Ken. We got to blend in. So Bob, other than yourself, who do you think is going to win this year’s club championship? Uh yeah, other than myself. Yeah. Yeah. Anybody but me? And you’ve got a better bet. Um that’s a good question. Um you know, JVD has been on the shelf for the lion share of the year, but since he’s come back, he’s been playing quite well. So, who knows? That that’s that’s certainly uh a pick that I might suggest if somebody was going to wager on it. Uh Scotland Schmidt, who’s in my group, who was a late ad to this, but I’m glad he’s here. Um Scotland is a a very accomplished competitive player in amateur golf circles in Southern California. So, he certainly has the abilities. There’s a few another few of our young uh members with some game guys like Keith and Ready and Ned Jensen and you know and certainly our defending champ. I was going to say the one name I haven’t heard yet. Well, you know because he’s very you know my dad always used to say beware the injured golfer and the fact that he’s injured and is literally stress testing things today to see if he can even tee it up tomorrow. Um we’ll see. Um, I think if he gets through tomorrow and he’s feeling all right, yeah, absolutely. He’s he’s going to be a contender anytime he tees it up. Um, you know, then we’ve got our uh, Who’s this? Mr. Mr. Gansard. Mr. Gansard has come by to nice to to visit. This is lovely. Our our former senior champion, Brian Gansard. Very cool. Walk a little bit. See what’s going on. But yes, how’s it going? No, no, no, no, no. It’s strategic. I’m not playing today. Got to save it for tomorrow. Smart. Save. He always saves it for tomorrow. Yeah. Do not have a great round tomorrow. Have a good round tomorrow. Have the great round on Saturday. Remember when you did that a few years ago? But I won some money on Friday. I know you did, but I mean that one good round would have helped more in the uh in the You could have been the overall net champion, right? All right. I’m just saying. I’m just trying to give you a little, you know. What do you have to shoot to get control over my game? Think about that. I shoot what I want to shoot. Like everyone else, right? Like I lost my 10 or something. Pretty good. In the last event, you were like what? Shot a 68 for a for a 73 gross or something for 73 net. anything like that, you know, like that’s that’s insane, but you know, that’s what happens when you’re good. Yeah. Yeah. We were supposed to have one more here. Your name keeps popping up and if not if you’re not going to win, who do you pick? Somebody moved you back into my name just keeps coming up. Look at those all day. No pressure whatsoever. You like them? Actually, they are fluorescent. They’re solar. They are fluorescent. Thank you, sir. I had somebody uh a couple weeks ago say I go they light up at night. He goes that that’s not what fluorescent means. He’s really young. I go look it up on your phone. He comes back about five minutes. I’m sorry. You were correct. There could be phosphorus going on in there. That’s true. I’m not going to be around to see if I don’t wash them. It’ll be a whole different few treses. I don’t think I’ve met you before. I’m Brian. Yeah, Brian Scotland. Nice to meet you. Tell them your last name and tell them your last name. No, I saw you. Okay. Okay. Oh, you just veed you. I saw you. We We have a 10-ft rule. If you suspect a member’s within 10 ft of you, you introduce yourself. Just a fun [ __ ] line. It’s about We won’t tell you what the rules are when he wasn’t just in the top 10. He was in the top three. Yeah. For what? You saw that, right? The top 10 contenders for for the club championship. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I did. Yeah. You put me at number two, Josh. I’ve never I’ve never he just behind gam. Oh, no. And once I got to there, I just like I’m not watching anymore. Yeah, there was some controversy, but not with your pick. Well, I was disappointed that Bob’s Bob’s video didn’t include him falling on the ice at the Bulls game. Oh, no. No. You haven’t seen that one? We No, no, that was that video came out in February, actually. Yeah, I was I was Oh, no. It was the first one. It was welcome to the 2025 season. Came out in February. Literally, it’s like the intro, including a slow-mo replay of him falling. Oh, absolutely. I got to look that up. Talk to Derek about having YouTube create a cartoon character he’s happy with, so we can put it back out on a cage. I don’t know. Scotland’s cartoon character can’t hold any more trophies. So, he was literally trying to balance them all on his world’s strongest man competition. He’s got Oh, I got to figure out what I’m hitting. Closest to the top. I guess I’ll pick that one. My ride is not here. Big surprise. Oh, you got a ride. Although, maybe maybe he’s listening to the to the stream. That would be cool. I’m going to need a ride in few seconds. My real group abandoned me. Yeah, I’m sorry that I’m sorry that you guys got stuck with me apparently. Well, what was your real So, first up, we’re gonna have Mark Weedenhoff, El Presidente. Can a guy get some silence on the table? Nope. Definitely not. It’s all right. I talk in my own back swing so it doesn’t really Mark, you talk when you’re sleeping. You talk when took it too fast. Nice layup. That is going to come up just a little bit short. Now here goes Scotland Schmidt. The only other swing we’ve seen him make was on the second shot in 17 at Tory South which he followed up with a birdie. So let’s see what he does here. Thank you guys. This is what a plus 4.1 handicap looks like with a wedge in his hand. Well, goodness. That long. He went a little long. Yeah, that’s why went with the chippy nine. Went a little long. Had the line the distance a little too much power. Yeah. Well, Bob didn’t want Paul to feel bad, so he Well, maybe you and Paul should have been in the same group. That’s not the Bob we know. It’s all I can say. It’s all right. You’ll get it back on the next one. Somebody already won. They already have the skin, right? We have two birdies already here. So, see, minor minor drawback not having All right. And now our ride has arrived. Thank you, sir. Sir, let me ditch this. Not needed. Ditch this. Not needed. And then grab this. Definitely needed. Thanks. Woohoo. All right. Climb on and see what happens here. All right. Hopefully don’t flip out of this thing. All right. We’re good. Woohoo. All right. So, do we head straight to like four or five where everybody else is? What do you think? I think they’re on four right now. Right. So, I think that makes sense cuz let’s get all the way down there to where the closest to the pin and the long drive with the hula hoop is. We will see these guys later. Sorry for the bouncy ride, but it’s better well than nothing walking better than walking where you get to hear my out of breath voice in addition to the shaky camera as we get this scenic tour of the 9-hole course. Oh, I see. We got people teen off from a little closer up here with with the special club. You know, they got to go with like an old school club. But you know what? Ah, I think Whoa, baby. Let’s do this. So, this is the trick shot hole. You got to use a special club. 56, man. Not your average everyday wedge. Looks like somebody got it close though. That is a tough tough thing to do. Oh, Tim. All right, let’s head out. See if we can catch these other dudes. Let’s see if I ride here. There we go. That might work. Yeah. Yeah, we’re chilling. Sweet. Ready? Yeah. Yeah. This is like the side of a helicopter with a machine gun, right? Yeah, totally. Uhoh. About to get dumped out. No, we’re good. I’m good. We’re good. Yeah, we’re good. We’re good. Let’s do this. Grab this. Put this over here. Rock on. Yeah, now we’re good. Oh yeah, we’re set now. Oh yeah, definitely locked and loaded. Looks like we are still not teed off yet on the long drive hole. So that’s pretty cool. We’re heading out to the fifth hole where I believe Derek has set a hula hoop somewhere in the fairway as a target. Whoever gets closest will win a prize. So, we’re going to wake our way down to the tea and area. I believe that’s the move. This is the golf course we don’t usually see. Most of our time is out there at the 18hole course. I’m just happy to be getting a ride right now, I’ll tell you that. I guess that’s over there, I think. Yeah, it certainly looks like they are on the fourth green. And it looks like our timing and planning was perfect. Kudos to Derek for figuring out where to put the special holes in a way to keep the camera entertaining. Sweet. Awesome. [Music] Nice. Thank you. So, you got to go put that hula hoop out there and I got to drop these drive out there and I’m going to gun you. And when I wave my hand over my head, put it there. Put it to their left near near the side where the rough is, but keep it in the fairway. Yeah. And then I don’t know if you tell them just tell everybody that that we got to just deal with the golf genius thing. Put your uh gross just tell them to put your scores in and we’ll fix it later. All right. [Music] So, we’ve arrived at the fourth hole. 175 yard par three. One of the most difficult putting greens on the entire complex, let alone the nine hole course. We have a closest to the pin competition. And it looks like our leader so far is nobody. It looks like nobody has managed to hit the screen. Of course, we’ve only had one group come through, so we’ll see what happens. How you playing so far? Uh, f get the first two, far the next two. All right. How you playing, Art? Are you making it possible for the others? Oh, yeah. You should have got me on the left. Nice. Now, we’re going to send Gray out. to drop a target in a place where we can’t even see. That’s a sound. Looks like the next group that is going to be coming onto the fourth hole is making their way off of the third green. Well, with the sun in our eyes, visibility might be a little tricky, but we’re going to do our best. We are going to do our best. Big shout out to all those still with us, still watching. We’re covering the on the course action here on the fourth hole on the nine-hole course for this prelude to a championship. At the conclusion of this round, anyone who has beat Art’s net score with their gross score will be in a playoff, a chip off and put off in front of the clubhouse for the ultimate winner. That’s going to be short and right. Looks like this could be Chris Lawson on the tea. Chris Lawson goes right. And that is not the place you want to miss on this. This is a severely sloped green. They’re going to be chipping downhill, sideways, and everything else. Looks like JVD now on the T. He has been in form in the last couple rounds he’s played to say the least. Let’s see if it holds up. [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. That almost made it on. Not quite. So now the long drive accurate drive competition on five. A hula hoop has been placed somewhere out there. I may ask for yardage but not share it with the other players. Looks like it is indeed hard to see, which is pretty cool. [Music] You driver 220. Yeah. No, I have the front driver. That’s So Derek, where is the hula hoop out there? We’re going to have to put an alignment shadow over there alignment stick on it, but it’s right. It’s 225 is a hula hoop. Now, do people know that that’s the distance? I’m not going to be telling people, but do people know? Okay. So, people try to hit bombs and it’s not going to be near 225. Sweet. And there’s going to be this nice little stick that they can see it the whole time if they look. Nice. How you playing, man? Terrible. Golf Genius somehow reset to the 18 hole course. Oh god. Not the nine. Fun times. And now it’s like where we set it up. I’ve gone in like on my iPad on my phone. go to change it and I hit the drop down and now the course doesn’t exist in the like drop down and Bob and I added it this morning and I went and like I go to the the season it’s in the season but it’s not selecting as a pairing so we just have to manually do this bad boy. Oh that’s fun. Yeah. Well at least the Art’s the only net. Yeah, exactly. So hey, what’d you get Art? Okay, everybody’s in. Yeah, exactly. Nice. join. winding up with the second group here on the fourth hole. Second shots coming up. It looks like Tony’s already hit his second shot onto the green. [Music] That’s going to come up a little bit short. Now JVD showing his short game prowess, or at least hoping to get in the bleed. What a putt. Yeah, Brian B Lynn solid putt on a very difficult green Chris with a chance to clean up his par. [Music] This group is off to the next hole, the driving challenge hole. All right, on this next hole is a hula hoop that Derek has placed, but he hasn’t told us how far it is or where on the fairway it is. And whoever is nearest will get a prize. Street. I need you. Yeah. So, there is a hula hoop that’s been placed strategically on this hole. We’re not telling you how far. All we’re telling you is it’s in the fairway and whoever’s closest to it will definitely get a cash prize. Yeah, maybe. No, no, no. It’s it’s it’s basically hidden. Although from what I understand it can be found. The mystery. You can see JVD trying to find it. [Laughter] was just on the right. Looks like it’s really close to JVD. It’s kind of like when you told Nick Neil to hit 3-wood on one. Yeah. No, no, you threewood. Definitely 240 50 yards. Oh, whoops. I was scoping the wrong thing. Nice. Nice ball, Brian. Good ball going down the right. Uh, no. I mean, I can tell you swung. I see it. Good distance, but he pushed it. I I think the two people who think they’ve seen it haven’t actually seen it. If what Dererick told me is correct, Chris big draw left side. No ducks though. No, no, no. That was more like a That was, you know, that was sort of straight. All right. Rousing endorsement. That’s the best fat shot I’ve ever heard in my life. I mean, he hit ground first and still hit it straight. 250. Not That’s a good miss, JVD. That was a miss, right? Like, I’m not mistaken. I did drop kick it. Yeah, but like you drop kicked it straight 250 which not bad. So apparently the hula hoop’s 222 out on the lefth hand side in the shade. Oh hey 222 in the shade on the left side. That’s what I’ve been told. That’s kind of funny. Meanwhile, this group behind them looks like somebody has finally hit the green. Hey, I think that might be a first actually. Congrats. Let’s see who did that. Of course, this I would not be surprised. Is this our our our defending two-time champion? Yeah, it does look like it is. If Mike Marin is the guy who hit that green, I would not be surprised. Let’s say that. Yeah, actually. Great call right here. Thanks, man. Oh, thanks, though. Yeah, the hula hoop threw it, man. Everyone hit the ball thinking they saw it somewhere else and then after they hit them like 222 left side, they’re like that was good stuff. That was huge. Thank you, man. All right, I want to know who’s on the green. Of course, it’s Mike. I mean, I I All right, to be fair, without even knowing it, I knew it was Mike. You’re the first guy who’s hit it. It’s the closest. You get to write your name on the card. How you feeling, Mark? Mike, pretty good. Last hole was not very good, but What are you at for the round? That guy even. So, you birdie something? Birdedi one and thug. You birdied one? Yeah. How far was your putt? This is Oh, wow. You were that close. Oh, sweet. Mike and I both Oh, Mike was like almost in, right? That’s pretty cool, man. Yeah. Check the board. I think you’re writing your name down, dude. I’m like, I saw a ball in the green. I saw the other three. And I saw the group and I’m like, I’ll bet a lot of money I know who hit that shot. Mr. This is a super cool hole. This is a hard hole. That’s hard. This green is This is as hard as any green on the 27 holes here at Baloa. All right, Mike. Not a surprise to write this closest to Well, you know, 17447. Got to do it. Did I say Gruden party? Gruden party. John Gruden. That’s kind of funny. Stay right there. Hit it. head right where I want to land the ball between the hole. Do I get relief? The answer to that question is no. By the way, you do not get relief on a line of play from a sprinkler head here at Baba. I don’t think so. Well, they are scared of either this green or the camera. I’m not sure which, but Mike still has his birdie putt left to go. Nope. [Music] Heat. just missed. Easy tap in par. Mike will stay at even. You have Yes. Come on. Nice. Oh gosh, I thought that was in. That looked like it was in all the way. And now this group will move. All right. So, on this next hole. [Music] All right. So, on this next hole, there has been placed a secret hula hoop. We are not telling you how far it is or where it is other than it’s on the fairway, and whoever gets closest will win a prize. Okay. It is apparently possible to see it, although I have yet to see it. But the bottom line is it’s somewhere out there. And if you get close, you win money. And after all of you have hit, I might might just tell you where I think it is. Mike trying to spot it. Yeah, I don’t see it. I’ve heard it’s hard to see. I can tell you the group in front of you thought they saw it. Had the wrong thing. Mo noted. How you playing? Uh, one birdie, one bogey. Par. Even par. Just, you know, Yeah. I mean I mean I don’t even I I don’t know if anyone’s under par here. So really I don’t know what I mean. You’re only the second group to come through. So we’ll find out soon. Yes, it is. Uh and it is somewhere in the fairway at a distance that you will know after you’ve hit your shot. Perfect. Hey, Mike. Hey, Mike. Hey, Mike. Can you temporarily cut the music? Thanks. I don’t have the licensing rights for that one. Good ball. Little off to the right. Certainly won’t hurt you on this hole, I don’t think. He’ll be all right. Yeah. Yeah, sure. It’s a great ball, Mike. Did you see my last drive? I almost hit the dumpster on a three. You know, both Paul Wrathbun and Bob Grace shanked their first T- shot. Really? Oh, like horribly shanked. Wow. Yeah, it was shocking. Up to the putting green. The putting is behind. Yeah. Close. I mean, Paul hit the tree. It almost went to the ninth hole. Little left to right spinner. Going to end up on the right side. Hopefully not blocked out behind a tree, but at least it’s not over the fence into the schoolyard playground. Yeah, it is. Join us. What this thing’s all about. As mentioned, there is a hidden hula hoop up there. If you get it in here, you get a prize. Not where you think it. I can tell you you’re not near it. Come on, Lee. Put it in the hoop. Lot of trees. Come on. Hit it to the hoop that you have no idea where it is. Lee, you never know. Got to be in it to win it. Stay left. Stay left. Good ball. Yeah, it’s a pretty good ball. Oh, he stays left. Fair ball. Good ball. By the way, 222 out left side of the fairway in the shadow. Yeah. Needless to say, everyone tried to hit 300 yard drive. So, yeah. Exactly. Over on the right hand. 222 left side. Are you playing tomorrow? Yes. Nice. That’s why I didn’t do this today. Don’t be a [ __ ] I am a [ __ ] man. I can’t help. I’m old. Yeah, but you’re also shooting par every day. Oh, yeah. Right. What’s your low round for the year? 74. 74. All right. All right. I mean, in the in the first round of last year’s club championship, you shot 72, I think, right? No, no, no, no. Oh, 76 in the championship in the first round on Friday. I thought you were like 68 net or something like that. Well, it was an eight handicap or something. Really? Oh, wow. All right, Ryan. Gosh, I don’t know. I could have that. I am not sure who that is. That’s me tight, but I don’t know. That looks like almost equidistant. I mean, of course, it was Mike Marin, who’s the only one else who actually got on the green. Oh, that is definitely me. He can have his two championships. I want closest to the pin. Well, nice shot, Paulolly. It’s money. Mike doesn’t need it. He makes it up. I don’t know. Is that me? Is that him? Tim new from off the green. Hoping for a little magic. Oh, that’s really close. Simple for me, man. I’m not going to be Oh, nice check. Little back spin. Wow. Impressive. That was nice. That was almost as beautiful as Steven’s shirt. Yeah, I have I got to show them. I have some skills. I love that. Cancer walking off the distance. He’s got an app on his phone. That’s impressive. Parking. Got to be able to measure parking stalls. Ah, liar scanning used. Well, Of course. What happens if it’s not accurate here? What happens if I hope you capture it at the top? The one you just hit was great. Yeah. 148 to 136. You’re 136. Yes, sir. The accurate measurement. And Paulie wasn’t even messing around. He actually was right. Good job, Paul. Nice shot. What’s that difference? Seven inches. Ah, you know, math. One more. One more. Stop. Wow. Last hole. Anybody under par on this round? No. Mike was even after this hole. I Oh, I like it. I like it. That was close. Nice putt. And it just keeps going. This green is so severe. You want in or out? Paul Paul Rathbun for Bergie. I’ll just put them on. Paul referring to ladybugs as a he. Well, no. I I wasn’t sure if you were going to go she or they them on the ladybug. It’s Ronnie Danger, too. Get in the hole. I tried for the hole and got all that. Wow, that was close. This is a tough hole. This is not an easy par. Great pipe. Nick, where are you after the round? I am plus three right now. Plus three right now. All right. Is uh what’s the low in your groove? Any idea? All right. Mike Marin exited this green even just missing a birdie putt by an inch, too. So, he pared this hole. did lose his closest a minute ago to Paul though, so there’s that. I think he was the favorite to win this, right? I mean, right. The the the prelude or the actual deal. The prelude. Yeah, I think Mike’s got a good chance. I also like Bob Grace’s chance in this, but we’ll see how he’s doing. Now, on this next hole, there is a hula hoop that has been hidden in the fairway. However, we’re not telling you how far out it is or where it is. There’s a rumor that it is possible to see it. I have yet to confirm this rumor. He marked it. You can see it. There’s a little hole right there with a can on top of it. Well, your eyes are better than mine. If you Whoever gets nearest does win a prize. And after all four of you have gone, I’ll at least give you the yardage. I I can’t see the hula hoop. No. No. I don’t believe the hula hoop is seeable. But I believe there’s something that marks the hula hoop that can be seen that I’ve never seen. And that’s all the hints I’m going to give you. It’s 275. [Music] What? What you supposed to do with the hulu? Get it close. Get it close to the hoop. That was sent off left. I don’t think he saw it. Looked like at about a 30° angle. Paul is trying to identify a tree for Tim to follow. Tim looking for a special angle into the green. Paul, one of the longest drivers in our club, claims he’s getting old, but I don’t believe it. Oh man. I mean, yeah, Paul, nice shot, Paul. Hula hoop. I don’t think that’s going to the hula hoop, but I’ll tell you that’s a heck of a shot though. So, that’s funny because I was told 222. So, you’re telling me 275? I thought that’s what I measured. Might be right. The device is not always telling the truth. Do pulls driver. All right, you got better than that. Hit it on the green. I’m a fizzle. Yeah, we’re all older. That is a rocket. Look at the trajectory. Low and long, man. Is that going to get on the green? No. All right. Good ball, dude. Thank you. All right, now we’re stepping into the last group of our tournament here. Looks like two balls on the green. I’m going to guess Oh, it looks like Weeden Hoff’s green balls on the green. Mark, is that you? Are you one of those balls? That was me, baby. Wow. You know what? That’s the golf ball that matches my attention. As you guys were walking up, I was putting money on that not being you. I uh appreciate the support. You got it, dude. You got it. I mean, but the reality was there was no way I was going to have you on the green and those two. And I don’t, you know, but that’s all right. Good shot, Mark. Of course, getting on the green is only half the battle on this particular hole. Well, we’re lucky it’s not a red flag cuz Oh, yeah. Just motors. Bob Grace for his chip. Not quite. Appreciate the compliment. Bob lays up on his chip. Yeah, of the first hole. He stubbed it short and he goes, “You know, I didn’t think I’d have to use a rangefinder for my second shot.” I I I didn’t think anyone could do worse than Paul did until Bob swung. Yeah, if I had my only if I had my little hybrid I would I would have absolutely just gone after the hybrid. I haven’t I haven’t yet slow down. [Music] And now Scotland Schmidt with his birdie opportunity. If he comes over here and says he’s like two or three under par, we’re going to have to have a conversation. Man, thought I was about to be like, “This dude loves the camera.” Is that a double bogey, Scott? No. Hey, it’s only my second part of the round. Wait a second. What are you right now? Two over. Two over. Oh, Mike with the early lead. Even after four. Oh, Jesus. Okay. Bob saving his energy for the weekend. It went further than your first shot on one. They all have an abomination. Look at that. Bounced and went four feet. Slapper Mcoo goes right in. Good shot. Good putt. I’m starting to regret saying you took six out of play on the T. Nice. Where where are you for the round, Mark? Uh I’m on the next hole. On the next hole. I got you. The next hole. There is a hidden hula hoop at a distance that has not been identified. At least not until after you’ve hit your shots. any center of the fairway. It is in the fairway. I’m not telling you center, left, or right uh or distance. No, I meant But what’s the purpose of this hole? Just get as close to the hula. If yes, you win a prize in in addition obviously the best score you can, but I guess whoever ends up near that hula hoop gets a prize. I’m not sure if anyone’s actually gone near it yet though cuz no one knows where it is. It’s apparently visible, but I haven’t seen it. I can see it right now. I see it here. What do you see it? Somebody put a white car on top of it. The advantage of being in the last group. I would hit it. The advantage of being in the last group. That was not there in the beginning. That’s what I thought. I knew I was when we walked by. I knew that because you were missing the So Bob, what are you for the round today? Huh? Where are you for the round today? Uh two over. Two over. All right. So Mike, so far the only one hanging around par. Yeah, but you know my eagle hole coming up. Oh, I know. You’re looking for that skin. What are we supposed to do? I’m telling you. Mark trying to get to the hula hoop. That is the right idea. I mean, you might actually be the closest person to the hula hoop so far. Yeah. Yeah. On the third shot. Big hims got out a seven hybrid. Pretty sure this is Bob trying for the hula hoop. It’s going to need to cut, but so far that’s got to be the closest. Pretty good. I haven’t seen one closer yet, so I don’t know. Could be worth something that you may or may not get. We don’t talk about that. Scotland also going hula hooping. You know, they don’t have those back in Scotland. So, they got hoop earrings everywhere. Man, it’s hard for him to target. I know. All right. And we are off and running here. I think now we get back to the front of the groupies. At the uh seventhish, sixthish. Yeah. Perfect. You’re at the tiny putter. Oh, tiny putter. Yeah. Yeah. Very cool. [Music] There they are bringing up the back. All right. Well, if you’re still with us two hours in, thanks, man. Heading toward the sixth and seventh hole, I believe. Watch the short par fours. Ah, yes. Oh, and and who is nearest? We do need to see. Oh, wow. Look at this ball. I think we’ve got a a winner here. This ball here clearly is the one that’s closest to the hula hoop. I mean, pin high, hula hoop high. Certainly seems that way, huh? So, I think that was Bob who who who wisely saw the opportunity to get paid and took it. All right. So, yeah. I mean, I guess theoretically, do you take the hula hoop now? Is that Bob’s? That is definitely Bob’s. Okay, write it down on It is 100% Bob’s. Nice shot, Bob. Somebody went hula hooping. What’s up, Bob? Title is five. All right. Now, onward, upward. Looks like the first fun challenge winner that we’ve been able to verify. Bob Grace, who after he’s seeing where the actual target was, took out a hybrid and stuck it right on it. Had to use some counterbalance technique there to stay on the cart. Try not to. Woohoo. It’s all right. And I’m holding on theoretically. Uh, and now we’re on to Are they hitting on this hole or this hole? Aha. Oh, somebody two people are on this green. Oh, goodness. Okay. D and then we’re on the next hole. Oh, and there’s a ball came right flying in and D and them are on that hole. Perfect. Okay, cool. So, I think what we want to do go up there is go up to there. Yeah, I think so because that’ll give us the the look in at the eagle opportunity. Also have a chance to check our leader. So far the low round of this group is Mike at even par. How’s it going JVD? Oh, it’s a struggle bus. Yeah, struggle bus. Where are you at uh relative to par? Even. Even. You’re even. Yeah. And that’s a struggle bus, dude. Tied for the lead, bro. No, no. Be Lynn, what? What? Yo, what? Wait a second. Time out. Time out. Time out. Yo, I just heard the craziest thing. Who’s two under par right now? Huh? I have my hybrid. Who’s Who’s two under par right now? Bro, you are the You got the lead by two right now, man. That’s what I said. You don’t want to win this. Hey, dude. A win is a win, man. This is like the par three at the Masters. It’s a curse. I don’t know, dude. I don’t know. I mean, last year the the low tied for the low, end up winning the whole thing, Mike. So, you know, I don’t know if Yeah, dude. Two under. That’s solid, man. Are you on the green up there? Yeah. So, you have to use the putter. Yep. All right. Well, good luck, man. Did you catch Mikey’s eagle? He made the eagle. He just hold out for eagle on this hole right here. He was down there on the left. Yeah. And he just held out that that. That’s a nice shot, Mike. Mike, what are you doing? Mike just chipped in for eagle. Mike, you two under now? No, I’m even. You just made it eagle, though. Mike Sutherland made the eagle. Oh, other Mike made the eagle. Hello, Mike Sutherland with the eagle. Nice, Mike. Oh, wrong Mike. All right, our right mic is the case may be [Music] appear to have some audio issues coming from the Padres’s bag. We have Jeff Harris hitting his approach shot here. This is the sixth hole. Short par4. Mike Sutherland just chipped in for Eagle. Mike Maron two over somehow. Heat. Heat. I can’t even [ __ ] get how scary edge is or anything. Mike with the aim point. Minmu Lee learned that from him. Hey, Mike. Nice chip in for eagle, man. Thank you. That’s pretty sick. Appreciate it. What What are you shooting at for the round now? Uh, I had a couple of doubles. So, even or plus one. You’re plus one. Gross. On the round. Nice, dude. That’s solid. Thank you. I mean, plus one right now is like second place. JVD is even. Nobody’s under. Oh, wow. Okay. Yeah. When they told me that Mike got an eagle, I assumed it was you. Did you double five? Double bogey five. I just So, what are you two over now? One over. One over now. Okay, cool. So, you’re one over. Sutherland’s one over and JVD is even par water breaking and I donated 80 bucks. charity like racetrack. I don’t know if you if you if you get into the qualifier, whatever that means, then it’s a chip off put off. Anyone can win, win or take all. This is a short par4. 211 yards from approximately from where this tea is. This is the club championship 2025 prelude to a championship, the Balboa Park men’s golf club. This is Josh wins 13. Thank you all for watching. We still have a few holes left to play plus an important playoff chip off. So stay tuned. Keep watching. [Music] Art, the world wants to know, what’s your net score looking like? I think it was one under. What’s your How’s your net score looking? Um I think I’m right around par. Uh oh. Uh oh, that’s trouble. So far we have I think Mike Maron is one over Southerntherland even. I’m going from no JVD even or bogey to quadruple. Okay. And anywhere in between. on six. How many birdies on six on this last one? Well, Mike Sutherland chipped in for eagle. Did he? Yes. I had a sixoot putt for eagle. Oh, nice. You missed it. But you got the birdie. So, what are you for the round? Um, four over. Four over. All right. I got this for my three over. Well, nobody’s under par. The leader is even JVD. A couple people are one one back. Art trying to close the door on qualifiers getting into the putt off. So, this is the eighth green. Then we’re going to head over to the ninth hole. Watch everybody come in. See how it’s going. Looks like we do not have an eagle putt from the last group that teed off on six. Now the green is cleared here on seven. [Music] Somewhere. Blue [Music] So, Belin, you’re leader at two under par. JVD, two strokes back at even par. Sounds like the pair of mics is at plus one. But so far round of the day is be len. Oh, hard’s really just letting him back in. Oh, it’s close, huh? It’s getting close. Oh, six. Is that a on a par three? struggle. Rolled it through the bunker, shipped to the left. This is a hard hole. I can tell you this is a hard hole. It is. But also, you want to see other people have an opportunity. You know, if you just if you were just the ace right now. Now, be two under par though. That’s pretty impressive. There we go. Hey Derek, you know Be Lynn’s two under right now? Yeah. That’s pretty sick. Yeah, that’s nice. This is the ninth hole. Par four. I don’t know where the sign is. I talked to somebody who worked here, but the Where’s the sign? Like the ninth hole sign that says the yardage and stuff. What’s the yardage? Did you notice that there wasn’t one? What’s the yardage here? I don’t know. homeless guys called the sign. Seriously, somebody I never know what second was. 320. Sure. It is actually I think 320 is back there. So you’re at like 300. They’re short of the green. So I’ll wait. Good ball. Nice ball. Sends it on the right side. Looked pretty good. Couldn’t see it come down, but man, that looked good. Was right at him. That was a good looking ball. Wasn’t 330. Thank you. That’ll work. That’s got some draw on it. That will play. Oh, there it is. Nice bounce going toward the center of the fairway. into the street or into the fairway. Exactly. Which way, you know? You know, are whatever you need, whatever, you know, hit do the best you can, man. I mean, uh, what what are you now, Ned? I guess he’s two over. He’s two over net. He’s two over net. All right. All right. Wow. That’s That’s like the cut line right there, too. Yeah. I mean, there’s like a bunch of guys right there. I mean, Art, you know, you you’re you’re the destiny of others lies within your hands. Hey, a banana shot. It’s going to end up in the fairway, I think. Pretty close at least. Rough left side. Keeping it interesting. Keeping it interesting. Even when I try to hit it out, Josh. All right. You know what? If you could give me a ride up to the front because we’re going to we’re going to bring everybody home on nine. Sweet. Is this here? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, we’re just going to get to the green and then watch everybody kind of come in. All right. Oh, cool. Need a stabilizer that attaches to the golf cart. That would be the move. Some of these title. Oh, probably. Oh, yeah. One of these guys. I think I saw it come up. Almost. Almost got me. Not quite though. Woohoo. Wow. Look at those balls. Holy smoke. That’s right there. Good shot. Very cool. All right. Perfect. Thank you, sir. Let me grab this. You know what? Let me grab my bag, too. So, I got my gear. All right. Back on. Thank you. This is the ninth green of the nine-hole course. You guessed it, the last hole in the course. And as we’ve come to understand, art plus two net means everybody’s got to get plus two net plus two gross or better if things hold to make the playoff chip off put off. So what art will end up getting on this hole is pretty important. Well, Art, his approach shot, little line drive gets it to the center of the fairway. Going to have, I don’t know, 70, 60, 50 yards in from there. Well, as the players find their ball, I see three balls altogether on the fairway. I know Art just hit his second to there. Art. His third shot probably gets a pop on this hole. Oh, he has shanked it left again. The door is open for some others to make it into the field. That would be his third shot. He’ll have to go up and down for a net par to remain at two over net. The door is opening just a little bit for those folks that are at the plus two plus three plus four mark. Let’s see how it all ends up. Looks like Dererick’s located his T-shot. That’s a bomb, too. He hit about 300 or so. Now Derek hitting his second shot. A little chip from off the green. Couple bounces in the hard pan and just doesn’t quite get onto the green, but just on the fringe. So he’ll be able to putt from there. Certainly two putt for a par is what he would need. Now Matt, his second shot after a beautiful drive. Very nice shot right at it. Just a little short, but still not a bad shot at all. Uphill putt for birdie. All right, right here. All right, get ready for his fourth shot. He needs an up and down to stay two over net. There are a lot of guys at three and four over right now who are just a little nervous. You know, the first time I ever played this hole, I ended up on the other side of that fence and I hit it straight up and over. I I I wish I could say I haven’t had that shot, but I have. Really? Yes. Nice putt. [Music] Well, Art his fifth shot has not found the green yet. [Music] So, he will he holds this. Actually, that might have been his fourth shot. Yeah, fifth shot. I don’t know. There you go. Art, what how many shots was that so far, Art? Five. Okay, so he’s got that putt left to go to plus three net. Woohoo. There’s a lot of guys at plus three and plus four. That putt’s going to mean something. And now I was asking people, there were some threes and fours out there. and threes and and with with this I’m you know we got to I got to make sure that he’s well he’s if he makes that putt it goes to plus three. Yeah. If he misses it goes to plus four and that’s that’s I I think that well that’s what he said. Yeah. But I’ve been telling him oh well yeah you know what but we’re trying. That’s where we’re at because we’ve got the golf genius stuff. It could go up and down one maybe now that I can sit down and do math. Get in. Nice putt, birdie. What’s up, Matt? Is there a longest putt? Somebody likes the camera. Mike, what’ that what’ that get you? Matt, what’d that get you to? One over. One over. All right. Somebody looks like he’s qualified. In fact, one over might even be top four at when all things are said and done. Derek, how’d you do? I don’t know. Like three, four over somewhere. Gotcha. Arc, there’s a chance if you make this putt, Derek doesn’t make the qualifier. Then make it, please. just missed. And it looks like the cut line is going to go to plus four. I think that’s a triple for art. Matt, you had three [Music] the last two holes on that six two and you had a two on eight. Dude, that’s impressive. First of all, that you’re in the clubhouse lead right now. You’re the low low number in. Sorry. That is nothing to apologize. The only you should be apologizing for is apparently not playing in our club championship. Made that uh put five on six. Couple got away. Hey, plus one is pretty good. All right. Well, the first group has come in now. We’re waiting for the second group. Appears to be someone from the first hole running across the fairway. Already had seven here. Six. Well done, Mr. Wells. Set the bar. Art, you played great. You did a perfect job. We’ve got an excellent close competition. Now, does that mean Art qualified for the final playoff? Yeah, Art always qualif. Excellent. Excellent. He just He just got to put his money in. Oh, there’s that, huh? Oh, we’ll make a donation. So, 36s and below, get in. 36s. 36 and below. What’s par? 32. 32 is par. So, 36 and in. 36 and below. Get in. All right. How How many in your group? I said 36. Yes, sir. That’s what I’m talking about. Uh, uh, Matt qualified 33. I’m 36. Dan was 41. And Art got in because he’s Art. Yeah. All right. Yeah. So, we got at least three so far. Oh, we’ve got Well, yeah, we’re going to have a lot more, actually. That’s pretty perfect. Sweet. Now, can Bein hold it together? I mean, he was two under going into a difficult hole, the eighth hole. And actually, I’m not sure. He was 200 going into seven. So, I don’t know what he did on seven. All these guys are qualified. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, JVD was very unhappy with his performance. All 28s and 29s and V Linds at 26. Yeah. Yeah. Right. So, that would put him at a 30 two under. Yeah. Exactly. Right. That That’s pretty sick. Yeah. JVD was disappointed with his even par round so far. Like like the way he was talking, I thought he was like five over. Looks like Tony will go first. He’s on the first hole fairway. Going to have to send it up over the tree and drop it right by the stick. Gets it. Oh no, it gets blocked by the tree and cuts him right down. Now Belin, our leader at two under par. Second shot. That’s going to go a little long. Yeah, put the other one. So he’s going to have some work to do to go up and down from there. Oh, I didn’t even real pretty finish. How about that? Oh, shoot. Yeah, that would be nasty. Now JVD. This is his magic range. He loves these shots. He loves to hit them over the trees into the sun. Absolutely. The only surprise is he’s not hitting a driver right now. Look at this beauty. He’s like, “Oh, yeah. I can do you better.” I saw him. I saw a little tickle in his belly. This is Tony. Tony. Oh, that’s Tony. He’s uh Who’s behind him? Lawson. Was that Lawson? Why is he walking over there? I knew you were being facicious and I just wanted to say that. I like that the whole way. I thought it was good. I saw that. I hope so. Chris Lawson also from the first hole is probably 64 degree here. [Music] By the way, Derek, of all the people I saw teen off on five, Bob was the only one who’s like, “You know what? Now I’m going for the hula hoop. Scoped it, took out a hybrid, and stuck it pin high. That’s great. It’s the uh It was the perfect bunt distance. Yeah. Now, I heard one person say 275 when they scoped it, but I was pretty sure it was 222. It was like Yeah. So, somebody must have scoped something behind it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. There’s no way that was 27. Exactly. Yeah. Cuz Bob hit like a little hybrid to get there. Yeah. about to hit a hybrid 275 right now. Yeah, that’s a good looking shot. That’s a good looking shot. Oh, so Chris lays up again with his rivals. Third shot. I won’t I won’t speak of the shot that rivaled. Chris, the only thing you don’t know, Chris, the only thing you don’t know is exactly how bad both Bob and Paul’s T-shot on one was. Whoa. I mean, Paul hit this tree. Bob went like 40 yards on one on one. Hasn’t exactly been a ball striking clinic out here. No, it’s I’m not going to throw stones. Right now, throwing stones. Anyone Anyone Birdie here? Yes, Matt. Birdie. Matt finished. Birdie. Birdie. Good job. Where’d he go? Get warmed up. Love it. Good putt. Get in. Out. Wow. Nice par, Chris. Make a p the whole way. Sure did. Especially when it hit that tree. I’m not online. It really was JVD for birdie. Get in. Oh, just misses it. I looked like a square all day long. Belin to to finish at two under par. Get in. It’s not every day you can say you shot a 30. Belin two under clubhouse lead probably lead period. Nice job Brian. See what happens when you wear shoes. Give me a hug baby. Are you playing tomorrow? Good round guys. Belin two under. What’s up buddy? Nice job. Big game hunter in the house. Very nicely done man. Roll it into this weekend right? Yeah dude. Nicely played man. What was the shot of the day today? Break that master. What was the shot? Sh shot of the day today. Shot of the day. Probably my little 60°. Yeah, I got two in. Oh, nice. Nice. Nice. Nice. I had a lot of good shots. Nice. 30. I’m ready to shock the world. Nice. Dirty boy. Hey Derek, on the on the chip off, the guys who aren’t going, are we going to make them turn around so they can’t see the re like the ball? I think that’s the move, right? Yeah, I think that’s And where are you going to put it, by the way? We’re not going to tell you yet. It’s right here. We’re going to do it here. I like that. And then and then and then we’re going to get down to two. Once you get No, to there. Once you get to two people, three holes, you’re going to start one back here. Yeah. One here, one from over here, and then one coming this way to get us down to two. And then we go there. A chip off on the on the real a chip off on the real green. A putt off on the real green. Put off on the length from the top all the way to that corner. There’s obviously a big crowd waiting for you out there. Huge crowd. Look at that. Look at that. Oh, wait. Just kidding. Well, they’ll show up on market. Just like this. Just like Wednesday at Augusta. Just like Just like you got to break. You got to break the curse, buddy. No, I’ve been saying that from the beginning. I don’t want to win this one. Hey, Josh. Hey, Josh. Huh? They’re all waiting in Toby’s. In what? At Toby’s. They’re all at Tobies. They just can’t wait to watch. So, did anybody You got Nobody here threatened a skin, right? God. No. I don’t even know. Mike had an eagle on but not out of your group. See you, brother. Thank you for coming. Are you out? What? Boston’s leaving. He’s being a good boy. I got my mother. Oh, so you’re not No chip pract No chip off came. You know what? I’ll see you tomorrow, bro. Play play well, man. We’re rooting for you. I’m rooting to play with you on Sunday. Yeah, I mean I mean Right. We’re rooting to be in that final group, man. Love it. Hopefully I’ll see Josh for about four or five hours on uh Yeah, we all play together. Yeah, Chris, if I see you on like, you know, I don’t know, on like the 17th hole, like on the side drinking beer is not good, right? You know, I want to see you playing, man. I want to see you playing and you’ve got the skill. Oh [ __ ] I mean, sorry, I can’t say that. What’s up, Kurt? How you doing, dude? Yo, there he is, man. Play really good. the last guy who won a championship before Mike Mayron the kibage on your game. How you doing, man? I’m good, buddy. Have you hit some balls yet? Yeah, I just had to stretch out the back. It was a long drive. Yeah, for sure, man. How you playing? Well, not that often. Been battling some injuries and uh this will be my last round for a while or my last rounds for a while. I got surgery scheduled in September. Really? So, Oh, man. Well, hope you get good quickly, man. You know, I mean, health-wise, you’ve always been good at golf, that’s for sure. Going to be going out with a bang, man. One way or the other. As long as you finish ahead of Lawson, right? That’s all that matters, right? Totally. Or better than And by the way, the top 10 pick traffic. Nothing. Five hours. Six hours. Less than five. Wow. So, be two under. That’s impressive. We got some good players here. Yeah. So, you never want to win the part three contest in the master. No, you do not. Kurt, you’re going off early tomorrow, right? First group. Nice. Nice. Oh, yeah. It’s a group of champs right there. Yeah. Lost bounced out for some reason. No idea what happened there. I got a pretty good idea. Uh oh. The rice smile. Don’t ask. Missed every putt I looked at and still shot even. Missed every T-shot I hit. Sorry. Wait, what did you shoot today? Even. I love it when these guys say they have a bad round and it’s freaking even par. Oh, hello. Somebody came close. And another one. Who that? They’re just coming in hot. Wait, why is Mike all the way over there? Why is Mike standing all the way over there? Is that Mike or is that somebody in the other group? I don’t even know. It’s like Dubbers just playing by himself. Exactly. No, but I I think that that’s Mike over there with the bucket hat and the blue shirt. The Toronto Blue Jays. And now you’ve got Oh [ __ ] that is them. And who’s hitting? That’s Harris. Yeah. Oh god, that is kind of Come. That’s a little off to the right. That was definitely Harris. Oh, got a few good bounces though. All right, Mike walking toward the first pin. What? Why is Mike going that way? Uh oh. Mike getting ready to play two. I see Jake. [Music] green breaking 36 32 What are you any idea? No idea. The cut line is plus four. This is me right here, right? Uh that was a ball that came flying from your direction. Oh, get it. Give it to him. Give it to him. Yes. Oh, that was a beautiful chip. Lee, that was nice, dude. Mike from on the other side of one incoming. I love ninehole golf. Oh, what a bounce off the hard pan and it’s going to go toward the pin. Did he plan that? I mean, literally what? Mikey bounces it on the hard pan from the other side of one and is just right there. Everybody else that did that, of course he did that on purpose, right? Question. Mike, we see you. We know what you’re doing. Trying to lull us into thinking you don’t have a shot. I thought you were handing socks for my birthday. So, hey, in all serious, I can’t have music because the of uh the I don’t have the licensing rights for it. Thanks, man. Oh, Jesus. More birdies. Mikey, did you plan that? Oh, there’s a prescription, right? For long distance. Yeah. I mean, you bounced it off the hard pan to get right there. Is it That’s a three, boys. Wait, you a three. No, it isn’t. One, two, three. You drove it right here. My drive went there. It almost leapt out and I’m Oh, wait. Four. Good three, Doug. No one’s watching. Yeah, because five under somehow. If you shot 36 or below, you’re in the thing. Come on. Does somebody have a pad? That’s okay. What’d you finish at, Mike? Uh, one over. One over. But you made the cut, though. Just smashed it right in the head. Not bad for a [ __ ] They’re handicapped. Oh my god. You got it around. You think you’re going to play it or do you want me to turn the camera off for this part? Uh, all right. Yeah. Are you drinking? Hopefully, let me see. Is there a water in there? Oh, there’s not much in here. Uh, we have No, sorry. They’re all white. There’s one. There’s one left. Uh, that club could very well be Mike’s. That could be Southerntherlands. I think that’s Southerntherland’s club. I think that’s Southerntherland cuz he he was just chipping. I’m pretty sure he was just chipping from there. [Music] yard. It’s fine. So, here I’ll give it a go. I had fun. Yeah. All right. Southerntherland qualified. Yeah. I mean, I’m taking the anti-inflammatory. Um, you missed it by one, buddy. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. It takes 20 to 30 minutes for that. Yeah. No. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So far, there’s no twos on Yeah, I got to give it a go. No, Matt. Matt Elm’s got a a two on eight. Hey, Derek. Matty got a two on eight. Matty from the pro shop. He got a two on eight. Yeah. Oh, okay. Cool. Yeah, he got a two on eight. And but that’s it’s a birdie. Oh, yeah. But but nobody else got that. No, no, but he went birdie bird. I mean Oh, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Other than those two birdies, the only other ones are the eagle. Were there any skins today? Those those are the three skins out there right now. The eagle and the birdie on eight. Birdie on eight, birdie on nine, and an eagle on birdie on nine. Wow. Okay, that’s an impressive skin to hold up. How many qualifiers do we have so far with a few groups left to play? One group left to play. Two groups. four or five. I don’t know exactly how many I know Southerntherland qualified is the Southerntherland and Miran. So that’s two. And then we have uh JBD, Tony, and Brian Lynn. So three, there’s five. And then for the first group, we have Matt nine. Seven. Seven. Only because you had said five, which I wasn’t counting, but I trusted it. It has like seven. Five two. All right, there you go. Meanwhile, you can see these guys practicing their chips. What did Harris get? 38. This is our last group. Two more groups, I believe. I see Bob’s Green approaching the tea. Nick, so we’re gonna have like Frochia and Paul Wrathbine. and got them into that. Then two of them went ice. So they Okay. So they obviously didn’t grow up in San Diego. I was going to say okay. That’s cool. Two counties. I was I was part of I was part of a Oh, somebody got close. Paul Rathlin probably maybe. high school 666 outfit. What’s up, dude? How you been? Yeah. What’s up, baby? Go all the way back out for this. All right. You want to see this little spinner? Oh, yeah. Let’s see. So, what is what what are you trying to do here? Tie spinner. Tie spinner. You hit it a little two grooves low. It’s still going to go in. Oh, wow. Nice shot. So, I like to go really sharp like this. Did you play today? Yeah. It’ll still come out low. So, you’re hitting with a really open face when you make contact. Yeah, that was terrible. But I like it. What degree is that? 60. But I I I make it like a 90 or something. Is this a shot you play on the golf course or Absolutely. Nice. Warming up for that chipping contest, baby. Oh, I know. There it is. Well, that that’s pretty nice right there. Yeah. Seems like right now, I assume. Paulie and Nick. Do Oh, okay. And uh I think Tim’s in the group too somewhere. Yeah, Tim’s in that group. I don’t know. Tim’s walking that way. Kind of. He’s following your line, Mike. He’s going across the road though. That’s kind of blowing up. I hit one over there. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. These T- shots we’re looking at. Personal assistant. Yeah. Well, that’s what happens when your kid Tim is Tim has decided to play it again. Wow. Is that him? Yep. Oh my god. Is that your wedge that was on too? Larry, that’s a nice wedge. Yeah. Just tee it up, Tim. I don’t even know if Paul knows that Tim is behind him. I think back that was pretty nice shot. Good job, Paul. Oh. Hey, watch out. Paul behind you. He doesn’t care. Oh, Tim. What is Tim doing? [Music] Last year. Louder. I You should see the leather. Now I’m hard. smiles pro walking up. Yeah. Yeah. That was closest too on Did you see Tim be the whole time? I can’t I can’t deal with all that median. Just skinny for now. Just skinny. Slim. We’ll call it slim slim pick. See that pine? Awesome. We saw Mike do the same thing with the hard pan and it rolled up. I didn’t know what the hell was up. I did. That was close. That was what was I was okay. Yeah. Yeah. Did you use the little putter on? Yeah, I put I was Did you get on your knees or did you just Nice shot, Tim. All right. putting for par right now there’s a there’s a birdie skin on this hole so somebody’s trying to trying to cancel that out here little check [Music] one mored shot Jimmy wait for him to go wait for him see Tired life. Tired life, man. You don’t know. Do I don’t have enough fluoresence on to really make the sound properly. Throwing him off. He’s unbalanced. Yeah, there’s not enough fluoresence, man. I wonder why you’re all off. That’s too calm. I know. Where’s polka dots? Yeah. Death something beaten down by one over par. Oh, you’re on over. How the [ __ ] did you over there? You could have aimed over there and not hit it over there. for three in a row. Three in a row. Oh my god, kids. Woo! Three birdies in a row. What? Stephen, who bet 100 against me? Cheater. Cheater on you. There you go. Dude, three birdies in a row. Heck yeah. Where are you at for the Where’d you finish at one under? One under. What’s up? All right. Big game hunter. All right. 89. All right. I say double or nothing. Tim. So, wait. Did Southerntherland just get all of it? Southerntherland just got it all. Oh, what’s up, Mike? That eagle chip in. What up? What’s that? That’s a payday right there. 17 of us. 17. I just want 120 on his right. [Laughter] And it would roll into the chip on $600. I think that’s what happened. Are you not doing the chip off you qualified for the chip off the other truck was good, Nick. Thank you. Nice bogey. Nice. [Music] Come on, man. Yep. What you have there, bud? Lucky. Lucky. What you have? the job. Paulie, what was that? He still qualifies. It doesn’t matter. You still get to go play the next. He qualified to get into the chip off. You would have made a six then you wouldn’t Oh, I made a five. So, no. And you shot 38. What did I shoot? 37. Yes. No, you Yeah, you shot 37. [Music] Hey, I thought it was five strokes. Oh, at least I got my 80us. Well, technically we don’t know because these guys didn’t put any of their scores in. So, we don’t know if anybody like we don’t know. How many definite qualifiers do we have? Uh what’s one two four five six seven eight nine 10 nice qualifiers. There we go. What’s the What’s the What’s the winner get? Do we know? 340, I think. Really? All right. Hey, Derek. Can you write down just g I don’t have a 10. Oh, Scotland hugging the fence, looking desperately for his ball. Uhoh. That’s not a good sign. Bob waiting for first hole to clear. What’s that? Uh, is he going to scroll it right into everybody? CTP. Why can’t I just Mark a little short, but he’s going to be putting birdie. Scotland puts it right in there. Nice shot. Now Bob Grace. Uh looks like first up is What’s up? No, it’s going to be Bob. He really did us. It’s a bit short about even what you shoot, Jeff. I have no idea. I had a birdie. Any eagles in your group? No. Anybody? Okay, that doesn’t matter. Let’s say birdie. Birdie on eight. Birdie is on eight. Birdie’s on nine. They’re all stepped on. Multiple birdies on the last two and so did Stephen. So suddenly comes through. You’re gonna you be able to pay for the name change? Yeah. Yeah. [Music] see a lot of green. Yeah. Who is that guy? A lot of green, but no. Mike H. Is that fourth person like random or is that somebody in our group that I just don’t know? Genius is off. That was a terrible shot. Yeah, we don’t have to post this, do we? He’s a hickory chef and a female 9-year-old. I’ve never I played anybody three under in this group. How you doing, Mike? I think I can. There’s one left in. Congratulations, sir. in baby. [Music] Nothing but net. Scotland, is that a three or a four? That’s a three. A birdie. Yeah. Big surprise. First one of the round. Really? Yeah. That is also the second three-footer he’s made. NFL. And that is going to be the end of the golf round as we move our way to the Chip Off Championship here. Anybody six? Yeah, that’s where the eagle. Eagle on six. Damn, that was a big one. So, now we’re going to wait. All of the qualifiers who shot 36 or less gross are going to have a chance to go through a chip off and put off for a winner take all of I think $340. on the main putting green. Well, there’s no holes, but you know, I assume it’ll be to a distance, and we we’re going to let our golf genius uh figure it out. So, now we got to set the three holes, right? So, we’ll start over there, right? Be the And by the way, you that are in the competition, we’re going to do a a horse race. If those of you that don’t know what a horse race is, I’ll explain it real quick. Here, I got 10 bucks. So, essentially what we’re going to do is those of you that qualified, those of you that qualified, we’re going to do three holes. I think it should work out this way where we’re going to start one over here. We’re going to do the next one over here. We’re going to do the last one from that side coming this way. I’m going to take these pins out of this thing screen. Mark is going to go put the hole where it’s going to be. We’re gonna have all our backs turned, no peeking, and then everybody chips, and we’ll narrow it down from there. All right. So, also, there’s a sampler platter here if anybody wants to dig in. Grab you a piece of chicken. Do me a favor. Just hold this. Just like that. Thank you, sir. So, now we’re placing the locations. Now, how are we going to mark each person’s ball? All right, cool. Because we want to make sure no one can see where their target is, right? All right, we’re going to set up. Here’s one there. 36. Okay. We We will need a target, I believe. Yeah. So the the they’re going to play a couple different holes and at the end of each hole eliminate one or two people until we get down to a final two for the put off. And our president will be the person who locates the target. And I’m sure he’s not going to do it in any kind of dramatic fashion. I five and six back to back. Very nice. Very nice. I topped I topped the first drive, then I hit a bomb and then from about 8 ft off of the green, rolled it all the way downhill into the hole. Very nice. So, there’s some discussion now. All of the qualifiers heading toward the first T and they’re going to be coming toward whichever location Mark puts this thing at. turned away. Well, I think they can see where you put it. They need to be turned away when everyone else hits. The idea is you don’t want to see the other person hit. Good point. But they are going to see the target, right? That’s, you know, you’re not going to keep that from them. All right. Be hilarious if you like didn’t if you put it like somewhere where they couldn’t find. All right. We have a location. Who will be our first contestant? Looks like it’s going to be Derek. This is not an easy chip. Derek. That’s pretty good. That’s pretty good. Is it stop? Okay. So, now now we need to mark this, right? We’re going to need a way to mark this ideally where other people don’t know where it is. Although, I think that’s sort of too late. And what we don’t know is how many people were eliminating. So, we’re going to have to keep marking a bunch of balls. All right. Next up, it looks like Tony. Tony, a chip that’s going to be short and it’s going to end up over there. Not ideal. Did you mark that or I did say we just leave? Yeah. That way they won’t focus on the ball. I just don’t want to forget. Bob. Oh, that looks pretty good. Does it turn? Does he get the turn? All right, he’s fairly close. Derek, how many are we losing on this round? Do you know? Doing the math right now. Okay. Hey, don’t hurt us. He’s doing math. Okay, next up, Scotland. Scotland Schmidt. Little bit short. Next up, be Lynn. That’s not going to get there. That came up way short. Next up, Mike Sutherland, who had a phenomenal round. The only skin of the day, an eagle on six. That is not going to get there. It’s going to be a little short. Now Paul Wrathbun bounced a little right. Didn’t go the way he wanted. That is a tricky tricky chip. I think you can see these are some good golfers having trouble getting it close to that location. Nick Frachia now up. Oh, he goes with a little high shot. That looks like it could be really good. That’s getting closer and closer. Nice job by Nick. Looks like he’s going to qualify. We’re looking at six going to get through. Six will get through. We’ve just heard it. How many How many How many uh people are trying here? Nine. 11. 11. Okay. So, cut it from six and then we’ll cut it to two on the next one. You go four then two if you want, but yeah, six. We’ll go six, four, two. JVD, we know he’s got the short game. He’s got to get the stop. Uhoh. You do not have to be on the green to qualify for this. So, that still looks like it’s close. again. The six best will advance. [Music] Now, Steven, who had a phenomenal one under round today, Oh, never mind. Uhoh. Off the green. One, two, three, four, five. Six. Get in. Six. Get in. I’m in. How many more? How many more we got? I’m lobbying for off the green. I would have just hit it long. Yeah. 162. Mattie thinking about it, taking his time. Pace of play obviously important to Maddie. Check. Check. Needs a check. Check please. Final guy. Yeah. Will Mike take out? I don’t know who he would take out actually. Who’s way Mike? That might go in. Although we have these Fraia, you’re in. Who’s this? All right, you’re in. Those two are in. You’re in. Who’s closer? Who’s closer? Uh, so it’s one, two, three. That’s why you don’t have to be on the green. One, two, three. Now it’s all making sense. Yeah. Who’s closer? That’s pretty much all I got going for me here. So that’s it. I’m the bubble boy. I see you tomorrow. Hey man, see you tomorrow. Hey, see you tomorrow, man. Good luck, man. Hang on. Hang on. Hang. Wait. Don’t Don’t hit that. No, I I marked it there. Oh, where was I have two over here. That ball I tossed. So, who’s the real ball? No, that was for this one, right? You missed the green. You’re out. So, who was where was the blue one? Oh, that’s right. There’s one deep. So the blue was already in. That was Paul’s. All right. Yep. Is that you there? Paul’s whom I picked up. I believe it was marked mine with you. Didn’t initially mark it. Todd doesn’t know if he’s Yeah. I don’t think you marked mine. You’re You’re in though. I saw where yours was. So I’m out. He’s He’s closer to me. No, but you I needed two people. I think we I think we both You both were in on the six paces and you beat the guys that were off the green. So are you off the green over there? You’re out. the other guys where they’re at. So on the green wait one more time. Do not touch the ball. The green was still That’s what we don’t need to mark it. So we are down to six now. Yep. This next round I think cuts us to four. Derek, are we cutting to four now or we cutting to two? Cut. Cut it down. [Music] Go six to four to 10. Cool. War of attrition here. That’s what separates men from boys. This is a short chip. Very short-sided pin placement here. If they wanted to bounce short. Now, do they have to be on the green to qualify? Do they have to be on the green to qualify? Um, no. No, they just close. Got it. Looks like uh No, it’s just the delicate shorts are harder. That’s going to be a little long. That’s a tough. All right. How many you keeping from this? Two. Two. No, you’re keeping four. Four. Next up, it looks like Bob Grace. That’s nice shot. What? Get in a hole. Mo Bobby Bob Grace finding himself in the semifinals. I don’t know how Paul Wrathman Bob set up a little blocker. Get inside of me. Leave it there. Not bad. Not bad. All right. Oh, nice shot. Little delicate shot. That’s going to qualify. And now, of course, Mike Marin. Mike bumping the ball with his golf club. Bob loves that. Get used to that now. Mike fluffing up his lie. Oh, all right. That’s pretty solid. Those three are two. That’s closer. And we’ve got four. All right. I’ve made their way on. Look at this. Look at these four guys that somebody says can play golf. Wouldn’t you know it, four guys who are pretty darn good ended up on this side of it. This is where you separate. So now we’re going to go from four to two. The two finalists from this round will face off in a putt off on the main putting green for a winner take all opportunity. Okay, Mark giving a moving target to Bob. [Music] All right, Bob will go first. Give him a shot. And check, check, check. Not bad. But only two get in. And we’ve got some pretty good golfers over here. The average handicap there is like a plus two. Come on, Nick. That’s pretty good. Oh, nicely done. That’s pretty good. Nice shot. Good shot. And now we’ve got Scotland Schmidt and Mike Marin. Look at that. Our top two contenders for the club championship have left to go. Can they qualify for the finals? Scotland hits it low. Uh oh, that’s not gonna get there. He finds himself on the outside. I believe Nick has qualified for the finals now. And it’s a question of Mike. Can Mike take Bob out? He has to get some. Can Mike take Bob out? Well, if you’re going to lose, losing to Mike, you know, that’s all right. [Music] Look at this guy right there. Mike and Nick are in the finals. Hello. All right, we are I believe going to make our way down toward the putting green. Let’s see what Derek says. I believe that’s the plan. We have a We have finalists. Nice. Who are our finalists? Here or there? I don’t know. We’re going to the main one. I think it was here, wasn’t it? We’re going to go to the to to the putting green in front of the clubhouse, the historic clubhouse. And Mike Marin and Nick Frachia, our finalists for winner take all putt for $340 for one putt. That’s a big putt. Is a big putt. Thanks for letting me know. No pressure. Flip a coin. Oh, yeah. I got it. Right. You got a lot of jingling, man. You got some Got a lot of metals looking things on there. What is that? A bridge? Oh, yeah. What’s the bridge for? Uh, that’s sweet. Well, Mike, big surprise. Mike Marin in the finals. Short game king. And shoot. What’d you shoot? Even par. Uh, one over. One over. Yeah. Another hoham day, huh? It was pretty ugly. Pretty ugly. Then he’s going to make a putt and win 340 bucks. [Music] You know, Mike, everyone was picking Scotland, but you know who Scotland picked? Who? You. Of course. Can’t pick himself. True. But I mean, dude, you’re you’re you are even though you don’t want to admit it. If you tee off on one tomorrow, you’re the favorite. Only because you know how to keep cool, man. The way of you saw some of the drives I hit today. You know why? We’ll see. No. Do you know why? I might have to uh might have to come up with something like aim 20 yards left and just like block it straight tomorrow. 150 and in. I’m good. It feels good. But longer shots, it feels good. I look up and it’s 30 yards right. We’ll see. And out like And now we find ourselves on the main putting green of the historic Baloa Park clubhouse. Baloa Park Golf Course established 1919. Our club established 1935. This is our 90th anniversary and this weekend will be our 91st consecutive club championship. Praia trying to get some cheating. I mean, some putts. Little practicing. Hey, uh you’re not allowed to to roll on the green before it’s your turn, you know. Caught, busted, red-handed, bro. My bad. My bad. 340. You know what? I’m I’ll give you one cut. I’m aiming. Aim point. We know he’s aim pointing. All right. From here. Oh, no way. In the air. All the way across. Would it be okay? All right. So, this is the final putt of the prelude to a championship. Not surprisingly, our two-time defending champ Mike Marin has made the finals competing against Nick Frachia. They will each get one putt. Looks like Nick will go first. Mike has turned around so he does not get to see the line. Nick will try to get it as close as he can. This for $340. One putt each. Whoever ends up closest to the stick wins it all. Nick Frachia sends it aims out to the left looking for it to go right. It doesn’t. It stays left. He is not going to be happy with that. We should mark that, but we won’t. Mike has seen what he has to to beat, and let’s be real, I think he can do it. You are not doing a point. Aim point. Mike taking the long stroll. Walking up here. [Music] [Laughter] There he goes. By the way, I think the odds have to be in Mike’s favor here after Nick left his putt way off to the left. [Music] Mike gives it a ride. This is a much better line. Uhoh. Nope. It’s turning. And it is going to be Mike. He did. Congratulations to our two-time defending champion. Mike Marin. Very nice, Mike. Congratulations, man. And we’re going to be congratulating you this weekend, I’m sure. Uh, yeah. This might be this might be my win this week, so I’ll take it. Mike the goat is coming through always, man. Like, was there any doubt that you would be in the finals? Not in my mind. Not in my mind. Cutting and chipping. I feel good about doing. That’s all I’ve been doing for the past month. I can’t. All right. See you boys tomorrow. Absolutely. Thank you very much, Derek, for organizing this awesome event. Thank you all for watching, for hanging with us this whole time.
