LOTHIAN, Md. — There’s a new golf experience in town, and it’s tailor-made for golf enthusiasts and rookies alike. Under Par, an indoor golf simulator facility, opened on Aug. 4 and is welcoming golfers of all levels to come play.

The facility boasts three golfing bays, each of which has a state-of-the-art screen that allows players to golf on more than 250 courses around the world. The technology brings your golf game indoors so that you can experience a realistic type of play just like on an outdoor course. The floor tilts and moves so you have the whole experience and can work on all the nuances of your game. Golfers can test their skills on the green, in sandpits and putting — just like an outdoor game.

The website says, “Golfzon’s TwoVision simulator combines ultra-high-speed sensors (400 fps), a 24-way movable swing plate, and multi-surface hitting mats to recreate real lie angles — from uphill to bunker — while delivering hyper-realistic 4K visuals and instant data feedback on ball flight, spin, launch angle and club path.”

Under Par is co-owned by the Luongo, DiGirolomo and Ellis families. All three owners are Southern Maryland locals and own other businesses in the community. They came together for the love of golf and to “give people a totally new, unique experience,” according to one of the owners, Jen Luongo.

“There’s really nothing else like it here,” Luongo said, speaking on behalf of the group. She added that they were hoping to “bring the love of the game inside” and were excited to take the leap on bringing something new and fun to the area.

Luongo also said she and her partners hope that a wide range of people can come enjoy the facility — avid golfers can have a place to go during Maryland’s cold winters and rainy spring season, for example. It can also be home to high school golf teams, groups of friends looking for an activity or someone trying golf for the first time.

Each golf bay can accommodate one to six people, and the bays can be booked for up to four hours. Anyone interested will need to go online and book a tee time, just like a typical country club golf course. The facility does not accept walk-ins, and you can only get inside by using the Bluetooth-enabled access granted to you when you make a booking.

Under Par also has another feature that will make golfers feel at home: there’s a full bar inside. Golfers are welcome to enjoy it just as they would during a day out golfing at the club. The bays are also climate-controlled, equipped with TVs and thoughtfully designed to ensure players can make the most of their indoor game.
