Dustin Johnson has a great chance to secure his first win of the season on LIV Golf this weekend.
Johnson shot an opening round of four-under par 67 at LIV Golf Chicago, and he’s currently tied for the lead with Sergio Garcia.
The 20-time PGA Tour winner has been in poor form this season on the whole.
Dan Rapaport even suggested that Johnson is now finished contending at majors due to his move to LIV.
It’s true that he has been nowhere near his best.
However, Johnson recently suggested that he doesn’t feel as though his game has dipped on LIV.
The proof is in the pudding, though. Johnson simply hasn’t been anywhere near the level he was at three or four years ago.
That said, he did roll back the years at LIV Chicago on Friday.
Dustin Johnson’s reaction to being told his record is under threat on LIV
Johnson has been one of the most consistent performers in world golf over the past decade or so.

However, 2025 has been somewhat of a struggle for him.
Johnson was asked how he feels about his streak of winning golf tournaments every year since 2015 could be coming to an end.
He said: “I mean, I probably wouldn’t have thought about it until you just asked me. Obviously I’ve got two chances here, this week and next week, so we’ll see what happens. I’m playing a few more events in the fall, so the year is not over yet.“
The last time Johnson failed to win an event of any kind was in 2014, and he has two more chances to keep that run going on LIV this season.
However, Johnson did allude to the fact that he will be playing in the fall. However, on what tour he plans to play is not clear yet.
Dustin Johnson discusses the return of his caddy Austin at LIV Chicago
Johnson didn’t have his brother and long-term caddie, Austin, on the bag at LIV UK.
Gareth Lord filled in for DJ’s regular caddie at the JCB Club, but the American admitted that it is great to have his brother back on the bag in Chicago.
Johnson said: “Well, it definitely helps. To be honest, even in the UK, I did not play nearly as bad as my score. I know my score was horrible, but I actually hit a lot of good shots. I felt like every time I hit a good shot it was a foot off from being really good and ends up in a bad spot. Obviously those greens and that golf course is pretty tricky. Just scored horribly.
“But yeah, having A.J. on the bag definitely — he’s been on the bag for a long time now, so when he’s not on the bag, it’s definitely a little bit different.
“Lordy did a good job, but definitely prefer having A.J. on the bag.“
Johnson is tied for the lead at LIV Chicago, with two rounds remaining, and a win at Bolingbrook Golf Club would turn an average season into a good one in an instant.
