Let’s be honest, the clubs Scottie Scheffler is using to knock off PGA Tour wins like clockwork probably aren’t the best for you or any recreational amateur.
But there are parts of Scheffler’s — or any other top player’s — setup that you can use for your own game.
A big one is Scheffler’s choice of driver and fairway wood shaft, the Fujikura Ventus.
Fujikura is having one of the best years for a shaft company ever, having swept the four majors with both Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy playing Ventus Black shafts in their drivers. J.J. Spaun plays the updated Ventus Black with VeloCore+.
Ventus is the No. 1 driver shaft on the PGA Tour, according to Darrell Survey, with 42.3 percent of players using a Fujikura driver shaft at this week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship playoff event.

On this week’s episode of GOLF’s Fully Equipped, Fujikura Tour rep Marshall Thompson explained to hosts Johnny Wunder and Jake Morrow how Tour pro usage of driver shafts pump up sales better than any other product category.
He explained a cascade-like effect, when a number of players start to see another winning with a specific shaft. Then they all start switching to it.
“Any tour that you get on, any of these guys can win at any given week, right? Yes, sure, Scottie’s winning at a much higher clip,” Thompson said. “But I would say, we’re always going to help any Tour player we can. But yeah, absolutely, it helps if we get big names like Scottie and Rory and Tommy. If anybody that we get to use a Fujikura shaft, it’s almost to, I think other tour pros look at it, and it’s almost to keep it up with the Joneses.”
Thompson said a lot of the demand on Tour was precipitated by Bryson DeChambeau going on his big distance chase, so more players have been trying to optimize every little bit of distance they can out of their drivers. That means more players are looking for an edge through a driver shaft and more players are testing Fujikura products.
“Now they’re trying a Ventus, and we were winning those battles, and that helped attribute to a lot of our product going in play,” Thompson said. “But I mean, from a sales point of view, we will sell a lot more product if we have the top 50 players in the world using it.”
