Lovely sunny conditions for the players on day one of the PIFF London Championship. Part of the PIF Global Series for the fifth year in a row coming from the Centurion Club. And a very nice opening round for Carla Saganda. An opening 68. She was six under par at one stage before a drop shot at the 16th. Co-individual leader though was Alexandra Swain, a six under 67 from the player from the US Virgin Islands. Georgia Hall has finished top five all previous years. This event has been at the Centurion Club. She hold a beauty here at the 11th hole, the par three and is well placed once again. There’s a team and an individual event running concurrently over the first couple of days and Kiara Tambellini and her team are very much in the hunt for both titles. Last year’s number one on the ladies European tour off the back of an excellent AIG Women’s Open in with a round of 68. She’s tied third in individual and tied fifth in the team event. Team Tambellini at 15 under par. Charlotte Lefar part of team Cassandra Alexander the captain going well as is Lafar who shot a 69 thanks to a birdie finish there at 18 the best score of her quartet. Selene Boutier chose April Angarasani the tie in her team and they’ll go into the final round of the team event on Saturday in second place. A wonderful eagle here at the 13th from the Thai player. So team Boutier in second place. Another team led by a French player in first place. Team Nadau won this event last year albeit Captain Estasia had three different teammates this year with Sophie Brner, Johanna Wrigley and Laura Funuk there at the top. The German who’s based in London, Laura Funuk, closing with a birdie and a share of the individual lead at six under par thanks to that bunker shot at the par 5 nth. So a one-shot lead for team Lau. The team event will conclude on Saturday. Much can change in the team event over 18 holes. The individual a 54hole event. Two players at six underpar and three English players inside the top 10.
