Ernie Els tees off during the first round of the Boeing Classic 2025 at The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge
The Boeing Classic kicks off its 20th anniversary on Friday August 8th at The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge. Here, 78 golfers will compete for their share of the $2.3 million dollar purse while raising money for charities and hosting families during a sports-centric weekend.
The course, located about 20 miles east of Seattle, is the only Jack Nicklaus Signature Course in Washington State. This 54 hole event at the base of the Cascade Mountains offers more than just great golf. It also provides a greater impact through fundraising and family-friendly events.
Golfing for Good
Every year, the Boeing Classic doubles as a golf tournament and fundraising event. The only PGA Tour Champions event in the Pacific Northwest, this event benefits the greater Seattle area. At $20 per day for an adult ticket, and free access for kids, it’s an affordable way to watch golf legends play while getting involved in the community.
Since their first tournament back in 2005, the Boeing Classic has raised more than $10 million for charities. These include the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, whose mission includes predicting, preventing, reversing, and curing diseases of the immune system.
In an interview with tournament director, Ryan Ingalls, he stated, “We’ve raised over $10 million for the Bennett Roy Research Institute and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health,” said Ingalls. “To see the machines and the elements and the scientists that do all this research is truly amazing, very humbling. And it just goes to show what all of this money goes towards.”
Other charities include The First Tee of Greater Seattle, whose focus is on positively impacting young people through educational programs utilizing the game of golf. They hope to make a difference in the lives of children by targeting those who come from a economically-disadvantaged background, are children of color, or are female.
Sports Legends
While celebrating it’s 20th year, golf legends will be out on the course for the Boeing Classic. Featured player Fred Couples will be returning to his hometown for the competition after his recent appearance in Happy Gilmore 2. Seven-time Champions Tour Winner Ernie Els “The Big Easy” will also make an appearance on the course. Other notable name includes Vijay Singh and Jose Maria Olazabal, members of the World Golf Hall of Fame alongside Couples and Els.
Also returning to the 2025 Boeing Classic is two-time champion Stephen Ames, looking to defend his title. Previously, no golfer had won back-to-back at the Boeing Classic until August 11th, 2024 when Ames took home the win after rising up the board from T4. On the par-5 18th hole, Ames secured a birdie and the win, one stroke ahead of his closest competitors, Ernie Els and Steven Alker, with an 11-under finish. At the 2023 Boeing Classic, Ames took first place with a seven stroke lead, setting a new tournament record in the process.
Fans can watch these sports legends in action from August 8th through the 10th at the incredible course located just outside of Seattle. Alongside incredible golf, the Boeing Classic offers flyover events and a Seahawk Village. At the Seahawk village, fans can participate in crafts, races, and get their memorabilia signed by Seahawks Legends like Kam Chancellor, Jordan Babineaux, and Marcus Trufant.
