NASHPORT, Ohio – The Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce held their Summer Golf Outing at the Virtues Golf Club today.

Chamber President Dana Matz explained how the fundraiser event helps to promote a chamber member’s facilities, while offering all member businesses the opportunity to offer a unique incentive for their employees and clientele.

“Given that we have so many golf courses in Muskingum County, we have two golf outings a year,” Matz said. “Today’s golf outing, we’re at The Virtues and this is a members’ event and this is an opportunity for networking amongst all the different businesses that are participating today. At other golf outings we see some companies are giving you know, an employee rewards. They send some employees out. We’ll see some companies that are trying to do business, so they’ll bring some clients with them. So it’s really a fun day of golf and networking.”

Even though The Virtues Golf Club lies in Licking County, it maintains strong Muskingum County ties by working with Muskingum County businesses and partnering with other Muskingum County golf courses in golfing tourism packages.

“So before we go out, we have a one-hour lunch, where the businesses again get a chance to network with each other. We’ll tee off at noon and finish sometime around 5 O’clock today, is the expectation. So we’ll have a longest drive, we’ll have longest putt, closest to the pin, the proximity prizes and then we do a first, second and third prize payout as well,” Matz said.

120 golfers from 30 teams participated in the event, on a day, which featured chamber of commerce weather. For more information about the chamber, as well as some of the events and workshops they offer, you can visit them online.
