The Buckinghamshire, Hole 14, by Angus Murray
This private club, which hosts the Ladies European Tour and has already held qualifying rounds for The Open and the US Women’s Open, completed the renovation of its 68 riveted bunkers in the spring. The club is currently installing more than 100 linear meters of drainage (primary and secondary) to improve its water recovery capacity.
A new championship tee has been added to the picturesque par 3 final tee, which runs alongside the River Colne. A complete renovation of the driving range is also planned.
This investment, made by the owners Arora Group, follows the £10 million renovation of the 2024th-century clubhouse in 16, which now offers seven luxury suites for London and international members. The club is located just XNUMX kilometers from Heathrow Airport.
Gerry Ivers, chief executive of The Buckinghamshire, said: “ “Our members’ playing experience is paramount, which is why this investment is essential. Wetter winters are becoming more frequent due to climate change, so we are taking steps to ensure playing conditions are of a very high standard all year round.”
“Thanks to the exceptional support of our owners, the Arora Group, the Buckinghamshire’s facilities are being fully developed for our members and their guests, both on and off the course.”
Opened in 1992, The Buckinghamshire was designed by the late John Jacobs, a famous PGA professional and coach, but also renowned as a golf course designer.
Gerry Ivers adds: “ The renovation of the bunkers, and the return to shorter native ryegrass borders, replacing the longer fescues, is a great satisfaction. Our team of greenkeepers played an important role in this work, which has greatly improved the definition and playability.
Work schedule:
Bunkers: Complete renovation of 68 riveted bunkers, sand exchange (750 tons of China clay sand added by hand), replacement of fescues with native ryegrass
Drainage: improvement of 20 linear meters of primary drainage and 000 meters of secondary drainage, better water capture for greater sustainability
1st Tee: development of a compact warm-up green to allow a four-ball player to practice before the tee
18th Tee: extension of the back tees (black) to 220 yards for this beautiful final par 3 hole along the River Colne
Practice: Complete renovation planned with new performance technologies, redesigned targets and optimized hitting surfaces
Located just outside central London, The Buckinghamshire is a private club reserved for discerning golfers and their families.
