What are your experiences with outdoor golf nets and its durability? How long do they last you? I'm worried that the net breaks after only a couple of weeks usage. From distance it looks only like a small defect, but on closeup the torn threads are clearly visible. This is my net from Deluxe Practice Net from SimSpace after about three weeks of usage from first unboxing and a couple of hundred shots in that timeframe. Doesn't look much "Deluxe". :-/
I'm using brand new Titleist ProV1 RCT balls and only play in dry conditions.
I contacted the manufacturer to get a replacement, as this is unacceptable for me. Awaiting a reply from them.

My fix for this is I hang a flag on the net that will cover the impact area. Couple of zip ties and hang it vertically and you’re good to go. Absorbs all the speed of the ball. It can be loud though.
I’ve had the net in the link below for 3 years. It’s very heavy duty. A few spots have begun to fray but I just cut them out and repaired it with their repair kit. In my experience you want one coated with tar if using outside, anything else won’t hold up.

I ripped through mine in multiple spots pretty quick, with only irons too. Glad it didn’t break when I was in the yard hitting bombs! I went to a heavy duty drop sheet, couldn’t trust the netting at all.
A single layer of net will never hold up, especially anything tight around a frame. It’s not even so much the ball speed, but the spin that causes the fraying, then one hard impact causes failure. You’ll need to have some kind of impact screen or a loose layer of net in front of it that can gather and absorb the impact.
Yup. My cheap net split like this almost instantly from hitting wedges and stuff. My solution for the past 2 years was to hang a canvas tarp up over it. That lasts about 1-2 years of use and now that has holes.
The expensive meets obviously won’t do this but a cheap net and canvas costs like $100 and the canvas itself is only $20.
My walmart net has held up to THOUSANDS of hits and looks nothing like this…..This seems weak or something. Also mine has a target like thing that (when hit at) catches the ball and slows it down b4 hitting the net. I can see some wear in the piece of material as it takes the hardest hits, but this is easily replaced.
Going to jump into this with a recommendation of nets from [https://www.dynamaxsports.com](https://www.dynamaxsports.com)
I have been using the nets in the added picture since a few months into Covid. I am pretty sure they are the standard high impact ones. [https://www.dynamaxsports.com/standard/](https://www.dynamaxsports.com/standard/) These might even be the nets the other poster is using. I added the drop cloth because like another person mentioned that the tar like substance does rub off on balls. The netting would also chew up the dots on the ball that are needed for the mevo+ if you don’t use RCT balls. The company also has white nets but they recommend black for outdoors. I have never put a ball through the netting, but I don’t have very high ball speed. I have made 1 or 2 small repairs using mason twine and it’s held up just fine. I keep the net up from about April through December and use it at least every other day. I change the drop cloth maybe twice a season. I have been toying with changing them out for white nets but they are still going strong and the drop cloth from Home Depot is pretty inexpensive.

You need multiple layers of protection. Behind the fabric layer i have two nets hanging not including the actual cage net
You’ll send a ball through it eventually. They’re just not strong enough to be repeatedly hit in the same spot. Hang a canvas target like [this](https://a.co/d/hxeyDV2) in the middle and it will solve all your problems.
Had mine for over a year and its been fine. Did you get a cheaper one? I’ve had nets and screens, and I plan on going back to a screen in the end. Get some para corde and reinforce that area should be fine for a while longer
I just stretch a white blanket across mine in front of the net. Gives a good projector screen surface too
Don’t get any of this on a net return
