US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau found himself in a spot of bother when a golf stunt with Donald Trump’s granddaughter, Kai, took an unexpected turn. The golfing sensation and staunch supporter of the president-elect planned to pull off a trick shot alongside Trump’s golf whizz grandchild, but things didn’t quite swing as hoped.

At just 17, Trump’s granddaughter Kai has shown impressive skills on the green and is all set to tee off her college career at the University of Miami. Pairing up her prowess with the expertise of world-ranked No.4 DeChambeau seemed a good play. Posting on social media, Kai shared a clip where she tees up from behind LIV Golf star DeChambeau on the driving range.

She skillfully clipped the ball towards him, expecting a seamless strike. Without glancing back, DeChambeau swung with precision, only for the driver’s head to come clean off and hurtle toward a bunker.

A bemused DeChambeau could only watch as his club was decapitated, with Kai laughing it off in the backdrop. Despite the mishap, the duo enjoyed chuckles while observing the SpaceX rocket blast off nearby.

Later on, DeChambeau mused to Kai about a futuristic invention that might just give her game an extra edge: “I’ll design a rocketship golf club with boosters on the back so you increase your club head speed,” he enthused, promising, “Just for you.”

Kai cheekily responded to DeChambeau’s dig about her club head speed, saying: “Just for me, yeah? I’m gonna need it. Wow that hurt,” clearly taking the suggestion in her stride with a laugh.

When Kai announced her big move to the University of Miami, she didn’t forget her family roots, especially her grandad’s part in her journey: “I would like to thank my Grandpa for giving me access to great courses and tremendous support,” she expressed with gratitude.

“I would also like to thank my entire family for always encouraging and pushing me to be the best person I can possibly be. I would like to thank my friends for always cheering me on.”

The President-elect has been a familiar face to Kai, as they teamed up for a Pro-Am event ahead of the much-talked-about LIV Golf tournament at Trump’s Doral course in sunny Florida.

With her commitment to the University of Miami, it seems Kai will remain within arm’s reach of the lush fairways groomed by her grandfather, particularly at Biltmore Golf Club, where the university team flexes their golfing skills and competes, a mere stone’s throw from Trump’s Doral course.

Following in the footsteps of stars like DeChambeau, Kai is now entering the sports influencer sphere, having launched her own YouTube channel. The young golfer dives into golf content – and even gave viewers a peek at election night proceedings.
