Key takeaways
Mental reset: After a rocky year, Meissner leaned on his mental coach and a new caddie to stay present and trust his process.
Inside the tournament: Feels like he “won the tournament within the tournament,” proud of how he stuck to committed swings and let results follow.
Respect for the winner: Admits he “didn’t feel much of a chance” once Cameron Young surged early but was thrilled to hit his goal of 20-under par.
Next steps: Plans a few weeks off, then heads to the ZOZO Championship before settling into fall events—plus quality family time after six weeks on the road.
Brotherly motivation: His brother’s Korn Ferry Tour success spurred him all season, and they stay in close contact after every good round.

Hey, Mac. Um, I guess a little short of the title, but Cam Young played awesome. So, how does it feel to get solo second out here on the PGA Tour? Oh, man. It feels good. I you know, it’s been a it’s been a rough season and um it just feels really good to see some uh hard work pay off and um I’m just really proud of the team I have around me and for sticking with me through the the tough tough part of the year. And um yeah, it feels like I kind of won the tournament inside the tournament. So, um really happy. I mean, it definitely uh makes my season a little bit easier, which is which is really nice. So, um yeah, I’m just really happy right now. Did What do you attribute if you had to pinpoint one part of your game that was that helped you elevate this week? What would you say? I mean, to be honest, it’s my uh the last two weeks has been my mental game. I uh brought a new caddy on the bag uh at 3 a.m. last week and uh man, we just did a really good job of just trying to stay present and um just trying to stick to making really committed swings and nailing our process really well and letting the results come and obviously they they came. So um man, I’m just really proud. It’s I was uh I was really struggling earlier in the year with kind of letting things bother me and um stuff that I couldn’t control, letting that letting that kind of ruin uh kind of tarnish some of my uh days that could have been a lot better. So um I’m just really proud of the work that I’ve done with my mental coach and um my family. Everyone sticking with me trying to lift me up during the tough times knowing that uh we were going to push through it. What when did was there a point today you thought to yourself I can’t really win this tournament? Cam’s just playing too good. I mean I played with Cam yesterday. I didn’t really feel like I had much of a chance going into today to be honest. I I thought if I got to 20 which obviously was going to be a tough task on a Sunday out here that I would have a chance. But I mean I was my goal was to shoot five today and I shot four. But it was good enough for still a second. So really happy with that. How will you spend the next few weeks? Ah, probably take a couple weeks off from golf. I uh I guess I’ll have a couple more events on my schedule. I wasn’t planning on playing Zozo, but now I’ll be able to play Zozo, which will be fun. And uh um I don’t know. I’ll definitely go see my family. I haven’t seen my parents in like six weeks and I’ve been with my wife and but we haven’t seen her family in like six weeks. So, we’ll definitely go and see them and just spend uh spend some quality time. Definitely relax a little bit. Does it give you a little less pressure to feel like you have to grind in the next couple weeks knowing that this result was in there? Absolutely. I mean, I think I definitely need to grind a little bit, but um it definitely makes my job a little bit easier for the fall, which is all I all I wanted to do these ne these last two weeks of the season. Obviously, I wasn’t expecting it a solo two, but that definitely makes it a lot easier. And then lastly, um your brother is playing well on the corner tour. What’s it like following him out there and kind of rooting for him to Oh, I mean, to be honest, that’s been the biggest motivation of of of all of it. I mean, to know that he would be out here next year and I might not be was kind of pushing me to uh play some good golf to end the season. I’m I mean, he’s worked his butt off and I’m so proud of him for the work that he’s done and uh for putting himself into a pretty good position to finish off the year strong. See him out here this year, next year. Do you like follow his results like Oh, yeah. I follow I mean I’m out sometimes I’m out there on the course following him if it’s a if we’re if we have a backup or something. So we follow each other really closely. We text each other after good rounds and uh we’ll uh I’m sure we’ll uh call him I’ll call him tonight. So yeah. Awesome. Thanks man. Appreciate you. Good plan. Appreciate you.
