Ryan tests out the new 2025 Mizuno M-Craft X putter series which is a special line up of putters offering customisable options to get the right putter for you. In this video Ryan talks through the new Mizuno M Craft x putter range and tests out 3 distinct models showing the different set-up of style, weight and shaft/neck options.

The Mizuno range allows you to fine-tune their putter line up to suit your style. Ryan tests out a combination of putter configurations using the 4, 5 and 6 models and 3 different neck styles which inludes the slant neck, plumbers neck and double bend.

Each variation and customisation provides different options for golfers looking for different options depending on what they want in terms of the putter and the toe hang, putter release, toe flow, squared face, face balance, zero torque and everything else you could think of!

Hi there and welcome back to the channel. We’re out on the beautiful golf course here at Howley Hall in Leeds. Today we’ve got a brand new putter series from Mizuno, the Mcraft X to have a bit of a look at. There’s something very special about this line of putters which we’re going to talk to you about in a few moments time. But if you haven’t done already, hit that subscribe button, hit that notifications bell, and see all of the latest content from all of us here at Golf Shake to help you play more and play better. Right, Mizuno. Maybe not a company known for their putters traditionally, but they are known for making amazing forge products. So, the Mcraft X line of putters is no different. 1025 forge steel in the face and also a nice milled aluminum part on the back of the putter here. But what makes these different? Well, I’ll show you. So, you basically are supposed to pick which kind of neck style you like. So, of the putters I have here, we have the slant neck which you can see in this one, the double bend here, and we have that old plers’s neck, which many of you will have in your traditional sort of bladed putter. You also then choose the shape or the kind of back on this. So, we have the four, five, and six shape in these putters, which are very, very different. So, when we look at the four, let’s look at that to start with. The four is almost that kind of square back design, a bit more angular here. When we look at five, we’ve obviously got a more rounded back on the putter. And six is that very, very popular sort of fang style design on the back of the putter there. All offering extreme MOI, but also with a package with the nice milling on the face that feels really great and is really nice and consistent. So, throughout this video, what I’m going to do is play around with these putters. I’m going to play around with the different styles. There’s also different weights that go in these as well, so you can really fine-tune these putters to make them feel and look exactly how you want them to. It’s also topped off with a really nice Lampkin grip, which has been made specifically for these Mcraft X putters, which I think looks and feels really, really good, too. So, let’s hit some puts. Let’s put a putter together and see exactly what we think. So, to start with, just to see what it’s like, I’m going to hit some putts with nothing on it. Right. So, just this forged 1025 steel body. Um, and see exactly what that feels like if I’m rolling them down towards this hole. Now, it already feels very, very unstable. It feels very small and looks quite weird. So, let’s see what it’s like when we actually hit a putt. Yeah, it feels better than I thought actually. A bit more solid. I was expecting it to feel really like tingy, but it doesn’t. A bit of a dull sound when you hit it, but it to be honest comes off the face absolutely fine. So, I’ve got the plumbers’s neck design here, which is probably the design that I’ve used most of my life really when it comes to to putters that I’ve had. Now, for me, I don’t like putters to feel too heavy. So, the weights that I put in, I pro I’m going to start off with the lightest. So, the three that I’ve got here, I’ve got 14 g, I’ve got some 21 g, and I’ve got some seven g in here as well. So, I’m going to start off with the sevens, and I’m going to start off with this number six style, which is this fang design. Okay. So, when you get these putters, you’ve obviously got the weights in there, but also you get this really nice little tool, which just fits in with any um club adjustment wrench that you’ve got. um and will allow you to take these weights in and out and put these putters together properly. So, when we look at the designs of these putters, they’ve also got quite different alignment stories when we look at them as well, which we’ll show you a little bit of a graphic of there that you can have a bit of a look down on. But, this one in this sort of fangback design here doesn’t really have anything to help with alignment. It’s almost got like half a golf ball U shape in there, but nothing really that that stands out for alignment. We’ve obviously got the gap in between the fangs there, which will obviously help frame the golf ball a little bit, but let’s see what this feels like now. Yeah, certainly very different feel to the face. That was a pretty good start. Just didn’t quite get it to the hole. Yeah, obviously feels a hell of a lot more stable than it did without the back on it, which is exactly what you’d expect. that kind of higher MOI sort of position. But I really like the neck style. I like the shape of it and the feel off the face is very very good actually. It’s really nice and soft. The steel feels absolutely fantastic on there as well. But I’m going to try a few different um different kind of configurations of these putters and see exactly how each of them perform. But for me, I think I would like some kind of alignment on there. So let’s have a bit of a look at the other two. So when we look at the three different neck styles available. So the slant, if I just balance this, see how the toe hangs down quite a bit. Obviously that is designed for that player who wants some release in the putter head, wants some, they call it toe flow where the toe just rolls over a little bit more and helps you square the face up. We’ve obviously got that face balance kind of neck in here with that um double bend that we’ve seen. Obviously we balance it the same way. The face still looks at the sky. And a kind of halfway house is this plumber’s neck here. So when you balance that, you can see it does have some toe hang, but not as much as we saw in that slant neck. So for me, this is the type of putter I want. I want to see that putter release nicely through the stroke. I I’ve tried face balance putters before and I’ve tried some of the sort of zero torque ones and really find them very very hard to to put with because they just want to stay in the same place all the time. And I just do not like that. Anyone who’s a traditional kind of golfer will like to see that putter move a little bit. I just feel like I can’t get those square. So, this should suit me. And this is the one that I’m going to try throughout this video. I didn’t really like the alignment on that fang version. So, what I’m going to do now is pick the next kind of favorite in terms of the shape. So, it’s got this single line on and this is the number five sole plate that we’ve got in here. So, again, I really like the weight. So, the lighter weights that we used in these with these seven g weights, I’m going to stick with those cuz I I felt that that was really nice when I hit those putts. I have tried these with the heavier weights in and for me didn’t really feel great at all. And again, many of you will completely disagree and that’s absolutely fine. Now, this is a slightly it looks a bigger footprint. It obviously doesn’t stick out as much at the back, but this bit on the top here is now filled in. But I’ve got my one line on the top of it now to help me with my alignment. So, I just feel like I can aim at the hole a little bit easier now just with the addition of that line on top of it. And certainly that one straight away has started more on my target line. Same again. Straight away, literally getting them down that target line a hell of a lot more consistently. Didn’t quite hit that one. See if we can actually hold one. Yeah, better stroke. Probably just going to miss left. But again, maybe not. But yeah, felt much much better in that configuration. I felt like straight away, and you can see by the results there, not just the one that went in, but the two that I missed, they’re at the hole and running on my line a little bit more um with that configuration. That certainly feels a hell of a lot better. The weighting of the putter feels better. and that line because I always draw a line on my golf ball as well and I would kind of recommend most of you do that to try and help you with your start line. A lot of putter lessons that I give are generally because people don’t aim in the right place and I really feel like having that line on top of your golf ball helps you to do that. So I’ll show you now how I would go about doing that with this putter. So this is one of the golf balls I use. You’ll see it’s got a red line drawn on the top of it. I just find that it’s a lot easier for me to align with something like that. So, I’m going to show you the sort of routine that I would go through. So, now that we’ve got this line on top of the ball, I’m going to line that up with where I think this putt is going to break. Now, you’ve seen on this video already, this put breaks probably about three or four inches right to left overall. Just going to check from behind. The way I check is using the shaft of the putter. So, I would tend to get the shaft on the line. I’d shut my weaker eye, which is my left, so my dominant eye is my right, and use the shaft to kind of line up with where I think this putt breaks. And that’s absolutely bang on. Obviously, I’ve done this a lot of times and practiced it a lot. So, now I’ve got my putter with this single line on the top of it, which is something I’ve generally always had in putters that I’ve played with. I can use this line and the line on my golf ball and line the two of them up and hopefully be able to make a stroke down that line. So, if you want to look down this direction, so you can actually see where this put is going to roll, what you’ll see is that I’m going to get my club there lined up to my line on my golf ball. And what I’m hopefully going to do when I hit this is hit a put where the red line stays on top of the golf ball as it runs toward the hole. Yeah. So, finally, the number four shape, which is kind of this more angular looking putter, has these two lines on the back there to help with alignment, but also this slightly shorter center line as well. I’ve gone for it in the uh double bend neck as well here. So, let’s see how that works. So, reminder that is a face balanced putter. Now, uh let’s see how this works on my line. So, I’ve lined all these golf balls up as per the little tip I just gave you. Quite a nice roll. Be quite happy with that one. Maybe just lacking a bit of pace. Much better strike that one. Pretty good again. Not too bad either. Go. So, yeah. Again, feels pretty good off the face. I’ve put the heaviest weights in this as well now, which does feel quite heavy when I’m putting with it. But as you can see, pretty happy with where those putts have ended up. But I should be getting them fairly close because I’ve hit it about 20 times now. So, no excuses. But yeah, I mean, it’s not the shape for me that appeals to me in terms of the look that I I like. But it does feel really good, although a little bit heavy. Um, right, let’s move on to the slant neck and see how that feels. So finally the slant neck and we’ve gone back to the number six shape. So that fang shape as well. So reminder this number six is uh sorry this slant neck is really going to help you to release the face a little bit more. So probably have slightly more toe flow in it than the other two that we’ve used. Obviously because of the way the neck goes in as well. You can see a little bit more of the top of the putter. The way that it kind of goes in the way it looks down there too. So it almost makes the blade look a little bit longer. It feels really nice. And the weights I’ve got in here are the 14 gram. So, kind of middle of the road really. It doesn’t feel bad at all. Just doesn’t feel quite as stable as that um number five shape that we used before. Yeah. again feels quite nice. Um, probably a little bit heavier than I’d like it to feel, but yeah, I mean the I quite like that neck style. I quite like the way it just doesn’t really suit the way I put I’ve had putters with necks on like this before and found particularly from short range, I feel like the face is moving all over the place. So, I just want a little bit less toe hang than that. So, let’s hit some shorter puts and see how this number five shaped with the plumbers’s neck with the lightest weights in performs on those short ones. So, now I’ve chosen my preferred configuration. So, like I say, number five with that single line on with a rounded back on it there and this plumber’s neck. Let’s see how these perform on these slightly shorter puts. So, we’ve got about 8 ft put here. Now, it’s not one that you’re going to hold all of, but it’s certainly one that I would fancy holding most of them if you’ve got a putter that feels nice and balanced. So, let’s put this one to the test. It’s a good start. really. Yeah, two out of three ain’t bad. But yeah, certainly feels nice and stable now over the golf ball. Using my lines to help line it up and get that ball rolling a little bit truer feels very good as well. Let’s just hit a couple more. I think the milling on the face also feels very good. Um it it gives the putter a bit it it feels quite soft off the face which I quite like. Um but also there’s that little bit of kind of speed off the face that the ball gets as well. It I don’t know whether that’s to do with the milling or or how the putter is put together, but it seems like it’s quite easy to to actually hit through to the target and get that ball rolling, but it does feel really really nice. And it’s quite easy to keep the face nice and square as well. So yeah, very very nice feeling putter, mil quality, the steel is great as you would expect from Mizuno and certainly a product that’s very customizable to every golfer out there. But yeah, give us your feedback. Let us know what you think. I think these look pretty good and like everything from Mizuno, the quality is there. Hopefully we’ll see you all very, very soon and watch all of the content here on the Golf Shake YouTube channel to help you play more and play better. See you later.
