A small private aircraft made an emergency landing on a suburban golf course after experiencing mechanical issues, authorities said.

Around 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, the Federal Aviation Administration alerted Elgin police that a plane was preparing to land on the Highlands of Elgin golf course due to “mechanical trouble,” authorities said.

The plane landed safely on the golf course and all occupants were evaluated at the scene. No injuries were reported, according to the Elgin Fire Department.

The National Transportation Safety Board was notified and is investigating the cause of the incident, Elgin fire said.
