Can I Play 18 Golf Courses in Just 12 Hours?
In this video, I’m going to attempt to play 18 different golf courses in just a single day. In fact, it’s going to be a lot less than that, as my challenge is to play 18 different golf courses in just 12 hours. Please put your golf ball around here. This is the worst challenge you can give me. Why are you on the road? Why are you on the road? Come on. I’m doing this today. This is YouTube Grind at its finest right here. You cannot make up an ending like that. You cannot script that. A couple of years ago, I was the first person to attempt the 24-hour birdie challenge where I could not leave the golf course until I birdied every single hop. If I didn’t make birdie, I had to walk all the way back to the sea and start again. Now, that challenge has gone on to be one of the most popular in-g the last few years with loads of different creators taking on getting millions and millions of views. Well, now I’ve got a new challenge. So, can I play 18 different golf courses in just 12 hours? So, for each course to be ticked off, I have to make a par before I can move on to the next golf course. If I do not, I have to continue playing until I get that par. One rule going in my favor, though, if I manage to make a bird on any of the holes, I do get 15 minutes added to my total as a buffer. But what on earth is in these golden envelopes, nine challenges that are apparently going to make things even harder across a mixture of oncourse and offc course challenges. Thankfully though, I do have one secret weapon to show you after the first hole that’s going to give me some help at least. First hole right here at my home golf course, Centurion Club. But before we start this 12-hour timer, got to find out what’s in challenge envelope number one. Be kind to me, please. Okay, spin the wheel for your t-shirt. I can live with that. Par five. I’ve had absolutely no warm up, by the way. And that is not good for my back. Right, Phil. Phil, my trusted caddy over many years, many proms we’ve played together, many Trilby Tour wins. We’ve got a challenge today, my boy. And it all starts now. Yeah, we’ve been through the ringer, but if this is the hardest one yet, we need to get off to a good start. Come on then. Let’s go. Look, we can’t run for 12 hours, but we got to be hasty. We can’t. Now, the only thing is Phil, as you know, this opening hole, if it runs on too straight, it will just go in the bunker. I can’t see a golf ball yet. Yeah. I mean, the only good news is hole two here is a par three, so it wouldn’t be too much time, but we do not want to start getting behind on the first hole. Par five. Oh, mate, we’re in the bunker. It might We’re in the bunker. It might It might be It might be the sevenwood of dreams. You know, I’ve got to play smart here. I’ve just got to make a par. I’m not going to make birdie. Not going to make eagle. But I I think I can hit this. I think I can hit this. No warm up. If it’s a club I trust, it’s this seven wood. Let me tell you. Watch that. I don’t mind it. Yeah. Okay. Not great, Philly. I mean, today’s going to be tricky because we’ve got a lot of traveling to do. We’ve planned a route, but things go wrong. Some of the courses, we’ve got very specific times we need to be on the first T4. It’s just not going to happen that way. So, we’re going to need to duck and dive. We might need to end up on the fly, like picking some different courses, nipping in and out. Some of these offc course challenges could take us on detours. Like I genuinely don’t know what’s in those envelopes. I just know that they’ve been made by our producer and they could they could well I want them to be challenging. That’s what that was the brief was. I mean 190 shouldn’t have got all the way there. I don’t know. Had a big bounce. Pin height. Dream world. Absolutely dream. Absolute dream world. So naturally I’m now trying to hit this to like tap in birdie putt range. That’s not the play here. Sebie, don’t be greedy. Get it past the hole. Sensible play. Phillip didn’t want to get greedy and dunk it there, but this is my home course, so there shouldn’t be anything too scary here. [Music] We don’t mind those. Nothing silly. Go. Go. Right. It’s now time to show you my little secret weapon. This thing should be a big help. Let me just say that. This thing is going to help big time. This is MercedesBenz GT63 AMG. Oh my god. This is the most crazy car I’ve ever driven. You would not think this would be a very practical car to play golf with. Well, let me show you something. Look at that. It’s a sports car. There’s four seats in that. I’ve got my massive big tour bag, two other bags in there. Easy peasy. I actually have one of these out in Ireland. I could have lay down three sets of golf clubs in this and still have the two seats in the front. This is an unbelievable weapon. This is going to be a game changer. See you at all. Right, we’re arriving at Aldribury Park. Now, so far we’ve done it perfectly. played perfect golf, made a quick solid par. Got out there in and out pretty quick. No delays. We’ve lost every bit of time we’ve made up. We’ve done everything absolutely perfectly so far. Just shows you so much of this is out of our control. Yeah, we made up the 6 minutes, but it’s like I say, school runs, it’s comm people starting to do the early commute, you know. Let’s just use this for example. Order Park’s got like a three mile driveway. How do you Oh my god. Yeah, it has. It’s lovely. By the way, by the way, this looks amazing. I have definitely not been here before, but I would definitely wanted to be come back and playing the whole course. This looks well nice. All right, slight problem. We meant to come to the pro shop and check in here. No one’s here. No one’s here. It’s a bit too early for the pro shop to open. We got the first people on it. We have to just like try and find the temp. Ask these guys where the 10th is. So, we’re on the 10th hole. We’re just waiting for JP to come over now. I’ve never played this course before. It looks really, really nice. Which is a perfect time to tell you about an app I’m going to be using today. And without this app today, this would be so much harder using the Grint. The Grint is an amazing app for anyone out there playing lots of different golf courses. So, it allows you to set up your round, have a whole GPS of the course. You can see exactly how far is to everything. See what’s down there. I’m going to have a look right now. Temp file there. I can see the water 260 to the water. Perfect. So, I know I can’t go more than 260. I can use this to track my score. Fairways hit, greens hit, amount of putts, track your game, see where you need to improve. But for a round like today, we for a round like today, there’s no round like today. But when you’re playing a course you’ve not played before, the Grin is absolutely incredible. So simple and free to download. Just get on there, sign up, and play, and you’ve got a map to use wherever you’re playing. It’s unbelievable. Just hit a good swing, Sebie, and get on there. They shouldn’t be too long an approach. A stroke index 14 shouldn’t be too crazy. We have that. That will do nicely, mate. That will do nicely. Soft bounce. Didn’t see it down. So, the buggies we we had set up and this is going to be a prime example of why I think we need buggies everywhere. Early in the morning, as I said, the pro shop wasn’t even up yet. So, there’s nowhere to get the keys. So, we’re doing it alresco. This is now not only important to make the path, but on a hole like this where we’re walking, it’s sort of imperative or else we are screwed on hole two basically. I mean, do we run? Do we run? I think it’s a bit early for the run. Bit early for a run. Get the blood going. Yep. That’s right down it. I hit it. Perfect. It might be. It looks a bit long. It looks a little bit long, but it looks like you’re putting down that wind or something. No. Have I just flushed it? I think you got some adrenaline pumping, mate. It must be that. I mean, this is a full day challenge here. Started early in the morning. We’re going to be playing till it’s Well, hopefully not, but it’s getting dark. I was scared of it, boys. I’m not going to lie. I was scared of it. Let’s get the par and get out of here. Two down, 16 to go. It’s not always going to be this easy, trust me, because we got these envelopes and it’s time to open another one right now. Phil, hit me with it. Let’s go. Challenge two. Sink your final putt twice in a row to complete the hole. Okay, now on a putt like that, that’s not too bad. If we get a difficult hole and I’ve got like an 8 foot parade, if I make it, I’ve got to make it twice. Oh no, that could be a problem. Where we going next? We need to get close. Redboard. We’ll be we’ll be in and out very quick cuz we’re against the clock. That’s a I think going to be a good strategy. Give them a call before we get there. Get things primed because if we have too many like all debris where there’s no buggies and we don’t know where we’re going. It just eats into these minutes. Man. Oh, here we are. Red Born. Have played here before. Okay. 425 yard path four. Did not want to see that. He’s one. Let’s have a look. Oh god, it’s not what I wanted. I mean the first hole here from memory is a short path four dog leg right. Sometimes you got to step up and just make a path uphill long. I do remember this hole. It’s a tough one. But remember, I’ve got to make the putt twice on this hole. That is not good for a stroke index one. This is the first real test. This is where these challenges are going to start getting ugly. Just so you’re really clear on this. I do not know what’s in these golden envelopes. But I’ve been told some of them later are insane. So, we’re ramping up to that. I’m scared cuz this one, the way it’s fallen on this hole is tough. I have to hit a good drive here and I’m going to have to hit a good second. Oh, it’s not turning over, Philip. It’s trying. It’s really trying. Come on. That’s not good, guys. That’s not the bounce we need. That’s not the bounce we needed. Oh dear. Oh dear. We’re in the trees. Just checked on the grint. We’re going to have about 160 in. We’re just going to be punching in and around the green. You might have to accept this is going to be a bogey. Might have to just accept it. If we’ve got a shot, we’ll be all right. Let’s have a look. We got to make it twice. So, the thing is at this point, we may as well take it on. Right. I want to keep getting in the car and driving to new golf courses. How nice is this? We picked an incredible day today. Right in the middle of summer. It’s the longest day. Everyone’s out there doing the longest day challenges playing golf from sunset to sundown. 72 holes. I want to do something a little bit different in the same ilk. So, we’re off to a flying start, guys. But I’m telling you, there’s banana skins coming. I was trying to think out is it better for the video if I don’t make par here so people don’t think this is fixed or that. So, it’s like mixes it up a little bit. But look, I’m buzzing. That’s probably one of the best parts I’ve ever made. Course four, Golf and Country Club. Lovely golf course that we got 13 minutes to get there. It’s what I’m talking about. We can’t do any more than we are. And we’re behind time somehow. How are we going to make up time? And we’ve got some offc course challenges to come as well. I don’t know what they’re going to be, but I know they’re not going to be easy. But Phil taking over driving duties here. We did want to see that yellow thing. That yellow thing means traffic, but we are ahead of schedule, which is good news. We got room in the bank, but we are probably going to need it, I think. Oh my lord. Oh my gosh. This thing is massively helping. By the way, when we get some open road and some longer drives within the speed limit, it’ll really help us uh catch up. Boys, how are we looking on? I know you just called ahead. How are we looking? Yeah, just spoke to them then. They said that um as we’re a little bit ahead of schedule, it’s looking a little bit trickier because it’s such a busy day. Then they’ve got a ladies competition, the T sheep’s fully booked out, so going to have to try and try and sneak on the back n hopefully. Oh god. Okay, the games begin. Yeah, there’s no buggies available apparently. There’s none none here. So, um that’s a shame. So, we’ve got our first logistical challenge on a golf course. It is absolutely rammed here. Pivot off on the first. We’ve been told we can go off on the 18th. But if we don’t par it, what do we do then? Do we go back to 17? Do we maybe see if this one, this 10th one is free here? Because anyone behind them, we can go behind these guys here. Do we have a look? All of a sudden, we’re all cruising, happy, smiling. We’ve got to a golf course. The staff are a little bit stressed. It’s so busy. And all of a sudden, we’re in chaos now, but I don’t know what golf we’re going to play. The first I’ve got like 20 people on. There’s no way we can go in there. Quickly have a chat to these boys here. We’re doing this silly thing today. I’m playing 18 golf courses. I got to play one hole on each golf course. This is the fourth hole. I’ve hit an average T-shot somehow stayed up without going in the rough and then I’ve hit a pretty poor approach. Bounced off this slope and we’ve got got two putts for it. We’ve got our first bogey, guys. It was all going far too well. Damn it. Where’s the next T? All right, let’s get a jog on then. Now it’s double the amount of distance to walk back as well. Oh, this is getting ugly. Oh dear. Not ideal. You’ve hit a tree. But I don’t want to walk too far. Why we not got buggies? It was all going so well. Oh, I pushed the Christ out of it. Didn’t commit to it at all. It’s going to be bunker. It’s bunker. All right, let’s make up and down. Up and down. So, we did all the math before. Again, I say we Luke did it did the math and we gave every course a sort of estimated time we thought we’d be where we would be based on how long we thought it would take for playing basically half an hour to get to a golf course, get ready, get approval from the pro shop or get the nod from the pro shop, get in the buggy, get to the hole, play the hole, and get back again. Sounds like a lot of time. Clearly, it’s not because we’re going to be this place way more than half an hour. especially we have to play more than one hole, maybe even three holes at this point. But the good news is because of how well we did earlier, as it stands right now, we were meant to be at this golf course in 4 minutes time. So even if I don’t make up and down here, we’re still on track. But then we got to stay on track. Come on. Up and down. Thing is, I’ve never tested this sand before. I mean, it feels sandy, but you just never know. Go hard. Okay. It’s not We’ve got a chance. It’s not bad. That last putt on the 10th. I should have probably made it. This one looks tricky. If we make this now, we are officially probably just on ahead of schedule. If not, we’re bang on it. So, I’m saying to myself, trust the brake. But I didn’t. It didn’t come on the last one. Do we trust it again? Different hole, it got to trust. It’s going to break a little bit. All right. It’s another bogey. Damn. We’re staying at Ordinum. 12th hole. Look at the trees. 180 yard par three. 180. I did not want to see that. Oh man, we might never leave this place. Going to play the whole back n are we? That’s the best thing. Now I want to grin. I can zap it and see where the flag is. Right. But now I can see that that pin is towards the back. Spread the butter. It’s routine. It’s not seam. Sit down. We’re going to be so far from the clubhouse. That’s the problem. We had buggies, it’d be all right. We’re l going further and further away. We have to get this guy to give us a lift back. So, that simple putt on 10 and that nine iron on 11 just shouldn’t have been that hard. This is Wow. How’s that rolled on that far? Can you believe that? All right, everyone settle down. If we make this, I think we’re sort of about on pace, apart from the fact that we’ve got now to walk all the way back to the clubhouse. Get in. Come on. Here we go. We’re back. We’re on pace. We’ll do I can’t believe we just forgotten that. That would have been so easy to make a par with that in whatever driver cuz it’s so reachable. All right, we’ll have to have a regroup and think about this. Let’s just get out of the way and have a think. I think we have to sacrifice those 15 minutes we discerned. I think there’s got to be a punishment. We’re going to do the challenge anyway the next hole. So that’s fine, but there’s got to be something for it. We got to run a tight ship around here. So I’m going to have to give those 15 minutes straight back off. I’ve made a mistake that was doable. And also having to hit like that small headed driver on this hole, which is probably so easy to still get. Even if I topped it 50 yards, I probably still could have made par. And now I’m going to have to do it on god knows what hole at the next course. Shocker. But we moved. You know what? I’ve hit this before. Rick Shields had this up at JCB last year and it is really difficult. So, we’re now going to do this on the next hole. That’s crazy. Let’s hope it’s a par. I mean, what do I hope it’s a par? I hope it’s a short par five is what I hope. We’ve just had a quick look. More park headed to now. 16th hole, par five. Good news. Just what we wanted. Bad news, over water carry, which means I can’t just like nimble one down there. I’m going to have to hit a golf shot with this club. Okay. What’s 17? Long path four. Brilliant. How nice does the GT look in front of this old building? This is one of the most iconic clubouses in golf. Played here many, many times. I love coming here from memory. Slick, slick greens. I’ve got to hit this off the tea, though. It’s got to be a perfect strike. And look, there’s water right in front of the tea box. It looks like the ball’s bigger. This is horrible. What do we think is the tea height here? I mean, feels like you’re hitting a three-wood, but you still got to hit up on the driver. But then if you’re going to hit up, I’m going to just miss the golf ball. Oh, I’m worried about this one. All right, boys and girls. Here we go. All I want here is dry. I just want dry. Oh no. What did I say about Tina? A bit too high. Oh dear. Right. Well, look, there’s no way I’m going to make an eagle with this club. Uh, so look, we’re just going to avoid that hole. We’re going to stay here and do this hole again. So, that’s a bogey. Let’s go again. This time, I’m going to tee it up a little bit lower. Oh, yeah. I mean, it’s gone left, but I don’t care. It’s amazing what you can do when you’re not under a tree or got a inch of club face. Right. It’s a birdie putt, right? So that birdie we lost on the last hole by forgetting to hit the mini driver. I’ve just got all excited. Do you know how upset I am? We could be stuck here all day now. That was such a perfect opportunity to do it. Why’ I get so excited on the birdie puff? Right. I’m such a knob. Haven’t hit it. At least I give it a try. I reckon if we can we do 16 again. You know what I’m going to say. Birdie, get 15 minutes back. Pretend like that never just happened. The good news is, however, I think this is the closest proximity golf courses that we do. It’s literally next door. All right. So, we’re now going to have backto back challenges because of my idiot error before. Challenge four. Be kind to me. Shut up. What do we got? You do that anyway, don’t you? This is the worst challenge you could give me. Introduce yourself to three people as two-time Trilby Tour champion. Are you kidding me? That’s so bad. Can I do it to the boys here? No, it’s got to be a Rickmanworthy. Why has it got to be a Ricky? Because it’s it’s the course. It’s a challenge away from me. This is the worst challenge you can give me. So, basically, if anyone doesn’t know, I won a golf tournament called the Trilby Tour. It’s an amateur golf tournament on Sky. Uh there’s qualifiers all around the country each year. Then you go to a grand final. You become the the world champion Trilby Tour, amateur golfer. And I won the grand final twice, which I’m very proud of. Very, very proud of that. People who know me closest give me stick. Oh, here comes Trilby, blah, blah, blah. But I’ve now got to introduce myself as twotime Trilby Tour winner to three people who a don’t know who I am and b don’t know what the hell the trilby tour is. They’re just going to think I’m an absolute helmet. But, you know, it is what it is. I’ve got to get this done. Got to go and get this done. Just get it over and done with. Oh, there’s two here. We go to Hadleywood where we filmed the Big Wedge Major. This year, we’re finishing at the Grove. Got Welling Garden City. We’ve got Essen, another place big where you filmed. So there’s lots of big courses and some big holes still to come. You can’t make it up. Just back to our car after nine holes. 6 hours 1 minute to go. We are on track. But just let’s get out of here. This is painful. Why are you all on the road? Why are you all on the road? Right, the support vehicle have gone to get fuel. We’ve had to a quick Tesco Express to get some food on the run. To be honest, we are behind pace. The traffic has caused us to slip further behind pace here. But we eventually arrive at the heartsmeir to be greeted by a nice short path three right in front of the clubhouse. Oh wow, this is awesome. Right, let’s let’s get this path. They made that into a par five or a four or five based on what you want to play, which is very interesting. So, we’re going to play the first here, but if we don’t make the par, we’ll come up 18 and see that hole as a me playing that hole as a par five for the first time ever. What’s that you say? You want to Oh, fine. I’ll show you. Come on. Unbelievable. Honestly, really? Do we have to do this? Oh, for God’s sake. All right. So, I mean, here’s the Masters Net Champion. Sure. Fine. And look what I’ve just found in the buggy we’re using, someone’s left scorecard here. Hole number one, Phil an eight. It’s a tough opening hole. This first tea can be a um card record. That year I won the club championship. Guy called Chris Dixon who won it the year after. Very, very good player. Plays at Hadley Wood now. Where we going next? I think he was favorite. He had shot six under at the Grove the day before. Came to the club championships, got a nine on this hole, six over in one hole. When you’re playing off the greens, which are right here, it was into wind. I think I’ve hit up to four iron on this hole before because it could be into the wind. And as you can see here, it’s an island green. Sevalister design course. Six par 3es, six par fours, six par fives. It’s a brutal start, I’m telling you. Right. This is the first time we had to wait on a tea. Uh which is mental really cuz this is hole 11. Beautiful. Beautiful. Just want to see it land now. You never know. Here. Yep. We’ve landed. Do you know what I mean? When you get the drone cam and you haven’t got bloody freezy and lux mashing it around, missing greens. Actually get some good footage for you guys. It’s one of them where I’m a bit disappointed because it should have been a tap in birdie this hole and that’s 15 minutes back and I’ve just got a feeling we’re going to need those 15 minutes. We’ve got one 15-minute in L right now, right? It would have been nice to have a tap in another one. But look, it’s better just to guarantee the pars. I think I think you’re right. At the end of the day, by playing a sensible bunker shot there, you’ve given yourself the opportunity for birdie. Very good point, Philillip. Very wise words said. Well, I like this part as well. What’s most is I had another secret holding for him. He had not ever met his first ever born grandson. My first son, Robert, my only son, Robert. He’d never met him. My wife brought him up here, hid him around the corners. As we walked up the 18th green, I stopped him and said, “Dad, I’ve got another surprise for you. Obviously, I’ve not been able to see you, but you’ve never got to meet your grandson.” and my wife brings out Robert right here at this golf course. What a special video that was. If people want to really replicate it, they should go the whole hog and copy the exact same challenges I did. There’s places up in Manchester, for example, where Pete lives. If he has a go at this one as well, there’s loads of courses around there, they could probably do this. But if he’s going to do it, he should use the same challenges. He’s used the charity shop, the mini golf, all the other stuff. He’s not going to introduce himself as two-time trib champion because I’m the only person ever to win the trib twice, mate. So when when we get back to the car, when we see the timer, we got 45 minutes more than that. Paul, your advice, listen to this, right? I can’t take too long. I had six eye in my hand. He goes to me. Hour and 18 minutes left to play three holes of golf and do about 30 minutes driving. Doing it without the timer is going to be difficult. I don’t think we’re going to do 12 hours, but we might do it with the buffers we’ve earned. And I’ve had to earn them buffers. Done all these challenges. That chipping has lifted everyone’s spirits. The route that Luke has planned has been unbelievable. Luke, any that don’t know, he is also the producer of Big W. Took a day off today to come and help me with this. Fair play to him. This route has been perfect. I mean, maybe you could say there’s a few courses we’ve gone past that we could have maybe shaved off 10 minutes here or there, but going to the courses we have where they’ve wanted us there, they’ve been up for helping us and they’ve had the buggies ready has made such a difference. Not just for the time, priceless, but just the experience. Like, how nice is it when you get there and they want you there and they welcome you. It’s so nice. Way more welcoming than I expect them to be, to be honest. So, shout out to all the golf courses that have accommodated us today. You know, we haven’t had the time to do it, but a couple of courses have said, “This is my name. I’ve been helping you out. go in the bar and get a drink on. Yeah. No. So, so no, we haven’t had time. We haven’t had time, but we we appreciate the gesture big time. There’s also like so many of the courses we played today. We’ll definitely want to come back and film proper big wedge videos at because they’ve been amazing. The courses are beautiful and I never even knew they existed. It’s pure straight up golf now and against the clock. It is now fully speed golf. The good news about the grove. You can park right by the first boys. When we get there, we’re going to speed run it. We’re just going to go for it straight on the tea. If you know the back way into the grove, that’s much quicker. It depends what angle we come in from. Maybe just let the satnav do it, but just get towards that first te as quick as you can and we’re going to just speed run it. I think we’re going to have literally like maybe 90 seconds to do this. I was like trying to keep the dream alive. It It’s actually on. Look, it says 659. Oh, we are 10 minutes away. 10 minutes away. We’ve got 17 and 12 minutes. How? We are just We’re inventing show. Show that. Show that time to the thing. I promise you this is legit. 17 minutes. Counting it down. Promise you this is legit. We did it out there in Turkey. We’re doing it now. In Turkey, we didn’t complete the challenge. Today, we have battled against the elements. It’s been some good golf, some bad golf, some good luck, some bad luck. This is doable. This started at 6:00 a.m. Well, we we met at 6:00 a.m. this morning to Centurion setting up, filming, getting off the tea. Some some terrible shots, some amazing shots, some stress, some laughter. We’ve met some amazing people along the way. The only thing we haven’t had yet is tears. So, let’s keep them off. Oh, we don’t want them cuz basically what’s going to happen now, Phil, is this. We’re going to get to the grove. We’re going to get on the tea and we’re going to have enough time to play the hole, I think. Which means we’ve just got to make the par and we do it. The tears might bring that with us. By the way, the tears might be from me if I’ve got to run another golf hole. It’s 30.5°. It’s getting hotter as the day goes on. 30° still the last three the last three golf courses I’ve had. Go, go, go, go, go. Come on. We’re traffic now. No. No. Not like this. Not like this. It’s going to all come down to it. I’m going to complete the challenge now. I think it’s all now whether I can do it with style without needing those birdies. It’s going to be so tight, man. Can’t believe it’s going to come down to this. I haven’t been that 13 minutes. I haven’t been staring at this clock all day, but I’m watching it like it’s going nowhere now. Get it there. Can’t believe how ridiculous it came down to 20 seconds to do this challenge after everything we’ve been through today.
