I know basically every week Scottie plays we get an image of Bennett, his son, on the 18th green with him accepting some sort of trophy. But this? This is how you use a trophy. You use whatever you can to your advantage, especially when you’re on dad duty. It doesn’t matter if you’re a blogger, an accountant or the best golfer since Tiger Woods, you find anything you can to help distract your kids. Bringing them to the 19th hole is a great way to do that. Get them some chicken fingers, let other people help distract them and kill some time doing golf stuff.

It’s also not lost on me that he said Bennett took some swings. We’re a couple decades away from Charlie Woods to Bennett Scheffler. I will say this as a dad to two boys who are obsessed with golf, it’s a cheat code. Can’t go play with your friends on a Sunday morning? Offer to take the kids with you to go play 18, let them take a couple swings if no one is behind you, practice some putting and you get a few hours on the course to work on your game. Nothing will make you mentally stronger than a 5-year old wanting to have a conversation that starts in mid-back swing.

Of course Scottie is hamming it up here a bit. Don’t think he needs a couple major trophies to get him and/or his son into anywhere. He’s Scottie Scheffler. That alone gets him into wherever he wants. That or maybe the $18 million he made last week without hitting a shot:

Love that he let his friends drink out of the Claret Jug. If you have some non-pro friends around you, you gotta let them partake in the dream. Pour a few beers in there, let the boys have some fun and get back to winning more shit.
