CLEVELAND, Ohio — Last season in OHSAA girls golf, the underclassmen dominated the links in both divisions. Highland’s Elizabeth Coleman, the cleveland.com Girls Golfer of the Year, and Solon’s Serena Wu scorched the courses as juniors.
Can they keep it going in 2025? Will others step up to challenge them?
We will get answers to those questions in October when the state tournaments happen at various locations around Ohio. Until then, here are the cleveland.com Preseason All-Stars for the 2025 season:
First Team
Elizabeth Coleman, Highland, Sr.: The Ball State recruit finished second with a 146 (71-75) in the Division I state tournament last season, earning her cleveland.com player of the year. She was ust three strokes away from the title on the North Course at NCR Country Club.
Kayla Knaze, Magnificat, Jr.: Knaze was the top sophomore in last year’s Division I state tournament, finishing seventh (77-74, 151) and helping the Blue Streaks win the team title. This summer, she was the Northern Ohio PGA Girls Jr. champion.
Anuja Patel, Orange, Jr.: Last season, Patel finished tied for eighth (76-82, 158) in the Division II state tournament at the Firestone Golf Club – Fazio Course. Patel had a great summer season, finishing second in the 18-hole NOPGA Jr tournament at The Country Club at Pepper Pike.
Calli Reed, Magnificat, Soph.: Reed finished 15th in the Division I state tournament. She won the JR PGA Section Championship at Medina Country Club by 10 strokes.
Serena Wu, Solon, Sr.: Wu finished fourth in the Division I state tournament by shooting a 148 (72-76). In the summer, she won the 36-hole Jr. Series Championship at Ashland Golf Course.
Second Team
Kristina Chill, Magnificat, Jr.: Chill finished 30th in the Division I state tournament with a 166. Her veteran leadership could lead the Blue Streaks to another state title.
Yumi Kohara, Walsh Jesuit, Jr.: Kohara finished tied for 38th with a 170 (82-88) at the Division I state tournament. In the summer, she was second in The Golf Dome Player of the Year for the ages 16-19.
Samantha Morgan, Southeast, Soph: Morgan shot an 179 (89-88)at the Division II state tournament (25th place), helping the Pirates finish fifth in the team race.
Elizabeth Pollock, Chagrin Falls, Soph.: Pollock helped the Lady Tigers to seventh place in the Division II state tournament. She finished 19th individually with a 171.
Sarah Vojtko, Walsh Jesuit, Soph.: Vojtko shot a 160 (82-78) that tied for 19th in Division I state tournament. She helped to Lady Warriors to a ninth-place team finish.
