[09:05] – Final Verdict: Who This Bag Is For
Have you ever wondered if the most popular stat bags seen on the PGA Tour actually live up to the hype? Well, after seeing yet again in Happy Gilmore 2, I knew I had to find this out. Well, I just put the Vessel Prime 2.0 staff bag to the test to find out what’s cool about it and what’s not. And in this video, I’m going to show you all the highlights, a few surprises, and help you figure out if this bag’s really worth getting. So, let’s do this. So, coming in at $599, you’re going to notice right away that the Vessel Prime 2.0 0 is built tough enough to handle whatever you’re going to throw at it. Now, this bag has been crafted out of tour grade synthetic leather that’s not only looks a premium, but also performs like it. I mean, this is a tour bag. Like, everyone on the PGA Tour and Live either have this bag currently or have a custom variation of it. So, you know this golf bag is going to survive everything from getting yanked out of the car to bouncing around in the trunk, plus those moments when your buddy dumps his gear on top of yours. Now, this strength actually comes from its steel reinforced six-way velour line top. Now, this top features two fulllength dividers that actually keep your club separated out. But let’s talk about its pockets, cuz this bag has a ton of them. That’s right. This bag has 16 pockets. 11 pockets on the outside and five on the inside. But they’re not just random pockets thrown out there for the sake of it. This tour bag has a place for everything you’d ever need when you’re out on the golf course. Now, my favorite has to be the magnetic rangefinder pocket. To be honest, it’s genius. The pocket snaps closed with magnetag edges and features an antimicrobial microfiber lining inside of it. Now, this keeps your rangefinder protected from scratches. It helps to stay clean and it sits exactly where you’re going to want to grab it during the round. Now, it also comes with a quick access magnetic pocket at the top of the bag, which also keeps your everyday valuables right where you need them. It’s perfect for stashing your phone, your wallet, your keys when you’re out playing. And this soft velour lining protects your phone screen from scratches and dings, so you’re not have to worry about damaging it during your round. Now, the belly pocket is massive. We’re talking four internal mesh pockets inside this compartment. This is like the ultimate pocket for your golf balls, your TE’s, your markers, even an emergency candy bar. Speaking of which, there’s even a removal panel here so you can get it embroidered with your name or your logo or whatever clever phrase you came up after having a couple drinks. And speaking of drinking, Vessel thought of everything when it comes to staying hydrated with this bag. The 2.0 features two insulated bottle pockets, one on each side. They’ll keep your drinks nice cold even when it’s super hot outside. Now, these pockets have magnetic closures that open wide when you’re grabbing a drink, but then flatten completely out when you’re not using it. So, it’s not getting in the way of your clubs, your bag, or anything else. It’s completely streamlined. But the coolest part is that Vessel actually built a bottle opener right into the towel ring. That’s right, Vessel gets it. They know exactly what we want when we’re grinding through 18 holes on a hot day. Now, it also features two large garment pockets that provide space for rain gear, your extra shirts, or a pullover for early morning tea times. And they’ve even tucked an umbrella sleeve behind the main storage pocket, which beats dealing with those annoying external clips and straps that just snag onto everything. All you have to do is just slide your umbrella in smoothly and it’s good to go. So, no more looking like you got a bunch of accessories hanging off your golf bag. But Vessel’s thought of everything, including water resistant zippers that keeps everything dry and genuine leather zipper pulls that feel great and don’t fall apart like the cheap plastic ones do. But the real question is, how’s this going to perform on the course? And the biggest thing we’re going to start off with is the weight. You’re looking at a 9 and a half pound bag. And that’s just for the bag itself. Then you’re going to add another 82 lbs for the strap. Now, this is no joke. So, you’re talking about a 10 lb bag. So, you technically could carry it, but your shoulder is going to kill you by the time you get to the back knife. So, who is this built for? Well, this is built for riding and not walking. Now, sure, they included a padded strap with simple clips that snap on and off without any fuss. But unless you’ve been crushing at the gym or built like a torper or have a caddy, you’re going to want to have this on a cart. Either push, pull, or a riding cart. But while this bag is heavy, Vessel is nailed where the handles are and its placement because you got three solid grab points so that you can snag it really from any angle. So there’s no more doing that awkward dance trying to find the sweet spot when you’re yanking it on your trunk or putting it in a cart. You can tell that the team at Vessel, who designed the bag, actually play golf. you know exactly where your hands are naturally going to want to be. The whole setup just makes sense. So whether you’re tossing it in a push cart or sliding it into the back of a golf cart, those handles are right where you need them. It’s one of those small details that makes a huge difference, especially when you’re using it week after week, like a tour player. Now, unlike other vessel bags, you only have two color choices, black and white. Now, black is the practical choice. they’ll stay looking clean longer and has that classic professional vibe. While the white is bolder and really lets the high-end material shine through, but either way, you’re still going to get the same tour level build and quality and craftsmanship that you come to expect from Vessel. But what’s really cool is if you want to add your personal touch, like I said earlier, the belly panel is removable and you can get creative with custom embroidery. You can throw your initials on, your full name, you can even wrap your home course logo or really whatever you want. Now, what’s really cool is I know that they do this all in the United States because I saw this last summer when I was at their offices. It’s pretty sick. But let’s pretend the 2.0 is just too big of a bag. Now, Vessel does have a smaller option that you can go with that’s a little more manageable and it’s called the Prime Min. You can think of this as the 2.0’s little brother. It’s got all the luxury touches in the same package, but it won’t wear you out by the back nine. Now, this comes in at about 9 12 lb. It’s noticeably lighter than the fullsize version, and you get the same premium sixway top with the full length dividers that will keep your clubs from tangling, plus all the pockets you’d find on the bigger model. And what’s really cool is they didn’t cut any corners on the little brother, the Prime Mini staff. Your valuable pocket still has a plush velour lining. There’s still a magnetic access for your rangefinder. And the only real difference is just that it’s a scaled down version for making a more reasonable size if you don’t want to lug the big boy. Now, this makes the mini staff bag perfect for someone who switches between carrying and using a push car or for those who just don’t need a massive tour bag like the 2.0. So, while the Prime 2.0 staff bag is a phenomenal bag, there are a few cons that you guys need. First off, it weighs nearly 10 lbs. So, this bag is strictly for cart or caddy use. If you occasionally like to walk nine holes or your course has a walking only policy at certain times, you’re not going to want to use this bag. And if you add your clubs, your balls, your gear, and everything else, you’re talking about a 30 or 40 pound. Next up is the price. At almost $600, this is a significant investment. You could buy a new driver or a dozen rounds at a decent golf course for the same amount of money. While the quality justifies the cost, it’s definitely a luxury purchase that not every golfer is going to need, especially if you’re new to the game. Now, lastly, this bag could be overkill for some types of players. If you’re a beginner or you don’t play all that much or you like to walk, this is definitely not the bag for you. Vessel makes tons of other bags that are made for that specific purpose and type of player. So, be sure to check out those videos that I’ve already done. The bottom line is the Vessel Prime 2.0 stat bag is like buying a luxury SUV when a sedan would do the job. Sure, you don’t need all that space and the premium materials, but man, it’s sure nice to have them when you do need them. So, if you play two, three times a week, take golf trips, or just appreciate quality golf air that makes your golf game way more fun, then this bag is going to deliver. Is it expensive? Maybe. But if you’re already spending $500 on a driver or $150 bucks on a dozen Prov1s each spring, investing $599 in a bag you’re going to use for the next decade that looks great starts to make a little bit of sense. Or it’ll at least help you justify it when you tell your wife you bought it. Guys, I really hope you enjoy this one. If you could do me a favor, can you like and comment down below what you think of the Vessel Prime 2.0 staff bag? Do you own a staff bag? Would you ever buy a staff bag? Is it too much? Is it too little? I would love to know. But if you guys want to see the best carry bag of the year, the Vessel Player 5 Pro, then check out this video right here. and I’ll see you on the
