The second round of the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, NC came to an abrupt halt on the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 1 when inclement weather rolled in quickly.

“The second round of the Wyndham Championship suspended due to a dangerous weather situation at 4:32 p.m.,” the PGA Tour said in a statement at the time before revealing the second round would restart at 7:30 a.m. ET on Saturday morning. While the golf world was waiting for the second round to tee off once again, five golfers decided their tournament was over.

Who Withdrew From the Wyndham Championship?

Following the first round of play, Kaito Oshini and Nate Lashley opted to withdraw from the tournament after carding rounds of 8-over, 78 and 4-over, 74 respectively. Both would have been longshots to make the cut following their rough rounds and opted to withdraw from the tournament without injury designations.

During the second round, five more names were added to the list when Tom Kim, Akshay Bhatia, Aaron Wise, Isaiah Salinda and Erik Van Rooyen all withdrew from the tournament either late Friday night or early Saturday morning before the restart of the second round. Van Rooyen is the only golfer of the five to withdraw from the tournament with an injury designation citing a back issue that led to his decision.

After either tough first or second rounds all five would have had a difficult time – though not impossible – making the cut which currently stands at 3-under, but could shift to 4-under before the completion of the second round.

Who Is Leading the Tournament?

Joel Dahman sat in the solo lead following the first round of the Wyndham Championship after carding a 9-under, 61. He’s been stuck in neutral during the second round, however, and has watched a number of golfers pass him on the leaderboard.

Among those is Cameron Young, who shot a 7-under, 63 in the first round and opted for one better in the second round with an 8-under, 62 to take the lead at 15-under for the tournament. He currently holds a two-shot lead over reigning champion Aaron Rai.
