Highlights: American Century Championship 2025, Final Round | Golf Channel
https://www.youtube.com/golfchannel?sub_confirmation=1
It is the final day of the 36th American Century Championship. Aside the incomparable beauty that is Lake Tahoe since 1990, this stunning backdrop has played host to Celebrity Golf’s biggest week. A setting and event unlike any other in the sport. And the fireworks started early on this Sunday. Jake Owen did this with his third shot at the par 53rd. The country music star who went to Florida State on a golf scholarship jars it for an Eagle. That’s worth six points. And at the time it gave Jake the outright lead, but things changed quickly in this modified stable scoring system. Steph Curry already made a birdie at three. The 2023 winner did it again at six. Steph is making a Sunday charge. Tack on another three points for Curry as he’s getting closer and closer to the lead. Moments ago at the eighth, Steph in complete control of his game. hits another gorgeous iron and Curry has a chance to get to 49 points. He’s all smiles and should be. Now, one of the co-leaders coming into the final round with Joe Pavvelski is this man, Taylor Twelman, an MLS star, played collegiately at the University of Maryland, and he is just hitting green after green after green, giving himself another opportunity at the sixth. Now Steph Curry already two under on his golf ball looking to make it three. 43 and another birdie for Steph. I just love I just love his putting stroke. So simple. Does Colin ever have a serious moment? Oh, that’s so funny. I’m up here laughing. I wonder what Michael Chay would have said as we go to the seventh hole. Joe Pavvelski couple of points back of the lead. A very accessible hole location, Steve, here at the par three. Mark Moulder, a three-time winner of this event. Three years in a row, actually, 2015, 16, and 17. Yeah, he’s one of the really good ball strikers in this field year in and year out. There’s some evidence there. Yep. Three times a winner, three times a runner up. Now Joe Povvelski, two points in back of the lead. this for birdie turned 41 years old on Friday. So Pavvelski jumps into the lead by one. Tied for fifth last week at the John Deere for Max. Austin Reeves for birdie. Oh, rattles that one home. It’s fun to watch him hit balls on the range. He can pound it. And this is the Lakers Austin Reeves for birdie. This is above the hole. This thing will move if it doesn’t hit the hole, but it does. Got the right right blanker on and flew in. And back at the T now. Mark Moulder on 12. 53 points. Getting closer. Just a couple back of the lead. And that is really good, Peter. Oh, if that ball kept moving, it would have gone down to the front of the green. That is ideal. pins in the back part of the green which is going to help. Get in the bunker. Get in the bunker. You heard his caddy Jason Richards hoping for it to get into the bunker. It did not. Well, he’s actually he’s actually okay if he’s if he doesn’t have tree trouble. That’s not a bad spot. He’s fine. Yeah. And over at 16, the Hall of Famer Jerry Rice. a staple here. This for birdie. Uhhuh. They love them around here. Why wouldn’t they? It’s close as we are to San Francisco. So, four birdies on the 16th hole. Two of them by women today. WNBA commissioner Kathy Angelbert and Hi Led Better. Yeah, this is this is doable for Steph going to use his highest lofted wedge. He’s going up the hill. He’s going to throw it way up. Try to land it softly. Caught it just a little chunky, which caused it to run out a bit more than he would had hoped. Steph Curry for his par. The last bogey he made was on the seventh hole in round two. 23 holes since his last bogey. Yeah. Watch this putt coming down the hill, turning to the left. Get it. Keeping the streak alive. What an up and down. What a point for Steph. Remember that moment if Steph goes on to win. That was a huge, huge one-point par save. Right. Rough for Steph at 14. Let’s see if he can get it around the tree. Maybe over it. He’s got a chance that whole location is on the left side. Oh, he’s carving it, Peter. Oh. Oh. Oh. Hey. Whoa. There’s a green hit in regulation. Wait. Don’t you have to call bank? Oh my. Steph will take that. There he goes. There’s the hole in one run for Steph. [Music] [Applause] I heard you call me. There you go. There you go. We all know how it goes. Steph usually just switches them. He usually doesn’t need glass. It was a three all the way if this goes in, right? This This would be the birdie of the week if this goes in. Look at this. No. Oh, come on. That would have been so Stephike. Would it been? Makes a great rotation into his back swing. Good position at the top. Just a wonderful swing. There’s a little left of it. That’ll be a good look for his first birdie of the day. He already has an eagle, but no birdies. Flighted down. Pretty good looking shot. Yes, it is. Lvelski putting the pressure on Taylor Twelman now. Jake Owen now he has a chance to get to 58. Yeah, straight up the hill. He can be aggressive with this. He was Oh, confidently walks that one in. Opposite stroke of what we saw at 12. That was really solid. So now he’s at 58. Back to 13. Pavvelski for the outright lead. Yep. 61 points now for Joe. Let’s see what John Smoltz is up to on the 15th green. He’s one of these guys who’s come close here before. Jonathan grinds and he’s focused out there. Back to 17. Smiley and Kira K. Steph is trying to play the second half of this championship bogey free. His last bogey was on seven in round two. It’s on a really nice line. Pushing a little to the left. Steph Curry going to have an opportunity to make a birdie. Let’s not forget he made that eagle a couple years ago to win the golf tournament. You know what’s on his mind? He doesn’t have an issue smiley in the clutch moments, does he? No, he does not. Being in contention, have a chance to win. This guy’s still in it, Jimmy. John Smoltz is having himself quite a day today. just a handful of strokes back. So Smoltz, who’s been close here a number of times, lost in a playoff, he’s still in the discussion. Big point here for Joe Pavvelski. Pick up a point and separate yourself a little bit more. He gets to 63. So Pavvelski now has a four-point cushion. All right, over at 16. As we said, John Smoltz having himself a heck of a day. This for birdie at the par five. And Smoltz, [Music] 24 points on the day now live with Steph Curry feels like a must make. It is. He’s got to make this. And he’s got to Eagle 18. Ah, have a chance. So he only makes a three for one point. John Smoltz coming off that birdie at 16. Oh, this big swing here, Steve. This is right at it. And that’s a good shot considering this leaderboard. Knock that in. Go see what happens on 18. Steph is trying to make his way to 18. Oh yes. Hey, that looks exactly like the shot. He made at the Olympics to say night night to win the gold medal. Golden dagger. Great call by Noah Eagle. Yeah, really golden dagger. Huge T- shot here for Steph. Has to make an eagle pretty much to have any chance here to get six points, get to 66, and then see what happens behind him. Well, his history here on 18 is solid. He’s uh he plays this hole very well, but not after that one. Well, if it’s far enough left, he’ll have a chance. But that looks like it’s out of bounds in the driving range. Back to the T at 18. 28 holes since his last bogey, but remember, he hit it out of bounds off the tee, so that was his third. And that’s going to rattle around in the trees. Steph’s in deep trouble on this 18th hole, which has been very, very good to him over the years. [Applause] [Music] Oh, did it go too far? I see the ripples. Yeah, with the lake on the left, he had to hit it out to the right and draw it back. And that was the only thing he couldn’t do was put a little too much steam on that. It was going to run into the into the pond. Let’s see. Yeah. Yeah. Two now pretty much for any chance. This one has to go for birdie. Oh, he walks it in confidently. So he gets to 60 to stay alive. Peter. Wow, that was a great putt. Well, he’s been doing that all week, hitting the greens and knocking the putts in. Now Smoltz again has to go in. Saw Jake Owen hole out earlier at the third. Can Smoltz do it? Oh, yeah. How about that? What a shot. Didn’t go in. What a shot. So he will make a birdie to get to 64, but he is eliminated because Pavvelski can only lose two points with a double bogey. So Joe is looking awfully strong here as he walks to the 18th T. Okay, step it off. And Romo giving himself a Bronx cheer on the 18th. Good job, bud. Great shot. Strike is good. Right of the hole to center of the green. Oh, yeah. Just like the doctor ordered. That is That should seal the deal for Joe Pavvelski. born and raised in Wisconsin, has more career playoff goals in the NHL than any other Americanb born player with 74. This for Eagle and six points. Get in there. Get in there. And he does it in style. an eagle at the 18th. After a tie for second, a third, and a second the last three years, Joe Povvelski finally has his American Century Championship title. And he gives his wife Sarah a big kiss after celebrating their 17th anniversary yesterday. Pavvelski is finally a winner here in Tahoe. What a performance. Now, that’s how you close out a championship, Peter. Yeah, take a look. You mentioned how much break this has got. This has to the left. But look at the speed. Falls in. Perfect speed right in the middle. And he knew it just before it fell. Yeah. So good. It’s so much fun to watch this guy strike the ball. As you mentioned, he’s had some struggles with his putting, but not today and not on this Eagle putt here at the last. Once again, dramatics at the 18th. Steph had an Eagle putt to win two years ago. Pavvelski closes it out with an Eagle in 2025. So cool. Look at this reaction.

Some of the worst highlights ever. You showed about 4 shot from the leader. Then you showed the final holed eagle putt 7ish times. Didn't even get to see the drive to put him within iron range for the eagle approach. Nice job… not.
You know, Ricky Fowler might be able to do well against these players 😂
Didn’t know JP had it like that
