Today I’m playing one of the longest golf courses in Ireland, 7,700 yards here at the stunning Killing Castle Golf Club. The goal is to break 75. Boy, this is going to be an exciting one. Let’s get into it. Back by popular demand, Dwayne Mullen. He’s back. Looking forward to this one. We’re playing probably the longest golf course in Ireland off the backs. 7,700 y to me. Yeah, correct. Yeah, I would be happy with two over 74. Yeah, two over. And we’re going to have a lot of four or five irons in the greens. Uh threewoods as well possibly. So, looking forward to that. There’s not even any black tea markers out today. That’s that just shows you that nobody dares play off these TE’s. I think the members TE’s is like 100 yards up here in the first. Was it 480 yards this first one? I think it is. No, no, it’s 485. 485 driver 31 probably. Don’t really know where we’re going here. here. We haven’t played here before, so it’s going to be bit of a guessing game, but let’s go. I’m excited. Ripped. Get rid of it. Should be good. Not really sure what we’re what the line is, but it’s pretty open, so just going to let one rip. Oh, go get out of it. Go. Oh, no. Bunker. Oh. Oh, I’m so excited today. So excited. Oh, I’m psyched for this, too. This place looks absolutely mental, doesn’t it? Massive. There’s literally bunkers everywhere. Look at the size of that bunker. And I’m in it. I’m in the first one. I tell you what, this is what matters in you today. I’m just in the cat box here, aka literary. Um, what have I got to 207 207 par four, second shot, five iron, second swing of the day. Six iron here from 186. Let’s get this on the green somewhere. Give us a look. Oh, get a bit right, please. Back bunker. Maybe not really an ideal position here. I’m going to have to hit a a big flopper. That is majestic. Oh, literally half a foot. Robbed. Bit of a narrow entrance to that green. Is it? Yeah. For a par4, 480 yards. But I’m in a bit of cabbage here. Actually, if I can get this on and just get it rolling towards the hole. It’s kind of one of those ones that you could hold. That’s it. Go, go, go. Ah, play the right shot. I just It’s a lot slower than you thought. Yeah, this is not really ideal either. This is a quick one. Let’s try and get the try and get the five and get out of here with minimum damage. Tom Shanks is back. Ah, that’s bad language. Sit. Oh, is that it? Guys, the confidence in the putting is very, very low at the moment. I’m not going to lie. But that all changes today. 10 ft down the hill here. Bit of a slider. Come on. Let’s start off with a par brick. Yes. Clutch start. Come on. Pretty much the same putt as Timmy’s. I’ve give you the read. You’ve given me the read. Let’s knock it in. Get Get out of here. Yes. Yes. Get in. It’s a sweaty start. Oh, you don’t want to start with a double boogie. A half dozen. But we’ll get out of there with a five. Okay, number two. Probably the longest hole in Ireland here. 613 yd par five. An absolute beast. I think this is going to put a bit of manners into us. Tell you what, it’s a great start. That’s ripped. Super shot. That bogey in the first feels like a birdie after that hacking match. Let’s try and get a birdie and get get that drop shot back. Good shot there. I think we’re in the right rough here with Sammy. Just in the first cut. Tell you what, that’s a bit of a daunting T-shot. What did I say? The first cut is the deepest. Just got you there. Ah, five, six yards. I was waiting for 313. 331. 331 for a second shot into the par five. Maybe hit driver off the deck. Do OD, right? Here we go. You sound like a DJ. Here we go. Here we go. Put your hands up. You’re supposed to concentrate that, right? That’ll work. Yeah, that’s good. We’re still 100 yards left. Well, 109. Let’s get one onto the green. Good and tight. Oh, it’s right at it. Be good. Not bad. 104. Let’s get this in tight. Come on. Oh, be good. We club seven. Oh, handy enough. Poor five. Ah, it’s only 630 or something. But I tell you what, if you just have a we look here, Timmy, just show them the greens here. The greens here are absolutely perfect. They’re like carpet. So, there’s no excuse for bad putting putting today. There’s a bit of a swing in this. Oh, he jarred it too. 4 ft for the bird. Yes, just crept in. Super start. Third hole. I think they were generous here to us. The first well probably one of the only par fours under 400 yds. 390 I think it is. Let’s go. We’re feeling good. Another birdie would be nice. It’s hit so good. It’s just left a bit. Can’t see it being in too much danger. I’m not going to say much here. I’m just going to rip this one up the middle. I think that’s good. So 166 here. I hit that we bit neck to be honest. Bad start. I’m not I don’t feel I’m hitting it a we bit ropey today. Great strike there. Yeah, that good. That’s it. Yeah, that should be good there. It’s a silly T- shot. Thought there was more room left, but now we have a bit of tree trouble. 128. My brain is telling me to hit a nice little sixiron chip out. Try and bump it up to the green. Do we do we play the YouTube shot? I don’t know what to do here. I’ve made up my mind. Playing the sensible shot. I think I can still maybe get there if I chase this up, but the ground’s wet. Draw baby draw just in the bunker. It’s going to be a bit smelly in this court. That’s cuz you’ve been dropping them all all morning undulation in this green. This is a tough golf course. Deep enough bunker up and down to me. No bother. Go, go, go. Great shot. How quick was that? And greens were 14 on the stem. Do it. Get in. Get up there. We’ve got one back. This putt is for momentum purposes only. Good stroke. Yes. That’s a quality. some four. It’s a tour tour standard. We were chatting with the guys in the pro shop and they said that very rarely did do people play off the black TE’s because it’s too difficult too long. Not enjoyable for the standard golfer. But I asked the guys what the course record was off the the black markers. I think it was guys said 70. Was it Danny Willlet? Danny Willlet shot two under. So it just shows you very much. Yeah, absolutely. You’re in the red figures. One more shot needed or sorry, one more bird. But it just shows you how difficult this course is. Like that’s a a major winner as well. Shooting two under as a course regular and nobody’s beat it. So a hotel planner tour slash which was the challenge tour previously. It’s actually here two weeks time. So it’ll be good to see what what them guys shoot around here. They’re not playing it. We’re actually playing it further back than what them guys are playing. Uh but it’ll be very very similar. But it’ll be good to see obviously them guys are just unbelievable golfers. You know, I can really shoot low numbers, so it’ll be good to see how they perform around here. Fourth hole, 471, par four. Would you say this is long or short in this golf course? Would this be a short or long par? I think this is one of the handier ones. It just looks like an absolute beast. Spin the camera around here. Hit well just down the left hand side. Hope it catches a lie. We bird on the last means we’re back in the game. We’ve pulled one back. Ah, and we bit knacky again. Tot four. Good solid seven iron. Caught a decent lie here. 197. Think it’s going to fly a bit out of here. So, a good seven iron for me right at the pin. Oh, be the number. Did fly. Come on. Get be the number. Sit. Sit. Super shot. Don’t really know where that is. Peeling off that second bunker on the left. Unbelievable. Ah, I was ripped. Right, I think Danny will stop sweating a we bit now. We’re in a bit of bother. This is just a wedge out and middle of the fairway of 174 to the flag. I’m going to hit a good solid eight iron. Oh, be good. Oh, what about that? Dwayne’s super excited here in 8 ft. I need to keep the party going. 116. Oh, go go go go go go. Oh, that is a horrendous gold shot. Ah, damage limitation needed. Come on. Need to get this up and down. Sit. Sit. Oh, such a difficult shot, too. So, I hit a great shot in here for birthday. That was feeble. This four, the five to keep any sort of momentum going really here. Come on, Timmy. Get in. Yes. That is some That’s a better That’s a better five than uh I actually don’t even know. 175 yards par three. Sixth hole. I’m one under par. Catch a piece. Catch a piece on the right. Yeah. On the green. Grand. Come on. We have 17 five. 175 to the flag. I’m going to try and hit a good solid eight iron here. Dwayne’s very bad with numbers. What’d you get in your mouth, GCSE? Bad memory. Don’t think you sat your M. No, I actually didn’t. I was like golfing. And you look at me now. Ah, go. No, I just knew that wasn’t enough club. Oh, set just to get the shot back from the last go. Sit, sit, sit. Nasty put swinging that dribbled it side door, but she’s in. Just crept in. R5 now. Not the longest. Still long, but we definitely need Bley here to get one back. Great shot. Ripped. We have settled in nicely to this round. Great shot. A good one. Course rating 78.3. Has to be the toughest course in Ireland. A easy course rating wise. I don’t think there’s a higher course in the country. I’ve seen you yesterday what Port Rush Roy Port Rush is 76.2 I think off the back TE’s. So this is this two shots tougher. Nearly two and a half shots. Yeah, decent T- shot there. 284 left. The green’s up here in the left hand side, but guarded by water. Not a chance of my going for that and two, especially into the wind. Rescue just down the right hand side. Leave himself a wedge on. Sounds very, very simple. So let’s make it simple. That is flushed. Please don’t go in that bunker. Perfect. D O D. Probably make a fool of myself, but sir, who cares? Oh, if it gets over the water. Go. I’m in the hazard. Red stakes. catch a piece. That was a good layup. Fantastic hole here. Really well designed. Dwayne was ambitious there trying to go for that and two. I know it’s kind of short, but it wasn’t really short. It’s like 510, but the way the sort of hole slopes and goes around here. Uh, it seems like a lot longer. I have 88 to the pin. Everything kind of feeds from back to front here. So, I want to be hitting this behind the flag anyway into the breeze. So, probably about a 100 yard shot really. Oh, I just laid the sword. Go. That was awful. Need to start concentrating a bit more over them wedge shots. That was awful. Straight forward here. Come on. Sit. Good job. Yeah, good enough. This is massive. Oh, sit. That’s a five secured. Good. Bad bogey, but could have been worse. 240 yard par three. This is the hole that we’re most excited to play here. It’s nearly like a blind D shot. It’s absolutely crazy. 240 yards into a slight draft as well. So, I have a rescue. Oh, skanked it. Go. I would say this is probably the longest par three in Ireland. Would it be? Could be. Yeah. Close to it if I’m going to hit my we trusty sevenwood. Oh, hit so so good. Come on. Be good. I don’t know. Things have got a we bit scrappy this last couple of holes. Actually have a good result there cuz I really hit that T- shot bad. Come on. Let’s get this up and down. That’s it. Oh, we bit of stuff on that, too. Lovely. Great shot. Not a bad shot. Just Just short of the green here. So, get in out of here with three. Happy enough. And maybe with a bit of luck, we can roll this in for a birdie. Get one back. Go on. Go on, you beauty. Go on. This is stressful. This last couple of holes. Very, very stressful. But we’re in a good position. Stunning hole here. Back down towards Killing Castle. Dwayne’s going to give us a history lesson here. Now, up at this green, telling us all about Killing Castle and the the good old history behind it. Yeah, I know a lot about it. Stay tuned. 480 here again. Back into the breeze. That is hit so good. That’s going to be about 40 yards past yours, Dwayne. Not a chance. I need to really get my act together here. I’m three over after eight. Eight. Just hear what I said. Not really. I don’t really be listening to you. But you’re remember the last nine holes. Bad start and then I just clinic. Ah. My golf is so poor that it’s such a cool boat, isn’t it? Yeah. Dead back. Yeah. Clean castle in in the background. Again, as I said before, like the guys here just are so friendly and have been so good to us. Such nice people. Yeah. So welcoming, too. Food in the clubhouse, too. Awesome. Unbelievable. Back down food reviews. Oh, no food reviews today. But the food it’s like we it’s sort of like you call it the clubhouse or clubhouse/ hotel restaurant. Yeah. Things are just going bad to worse. This golf today is vomit. And look at the state of this. This is just a hackout job. Oh. Oh, this is horrendous. I just want to put things into perspective, right? I hit that drive as good as I can hit a drive and I still have 190 190 left from my second shot into a par4. Get up. Catch a bit. Yeah, that’s a good shot. I need to really get my actic out of here cuz this is going to be embarrassing. A we bit fat, but it might work. Get up. Go. This would be a world class birdie on the ninth. This to go two under, believe it or believe it or not. I tell you what, you’re back in Donnie Willis heels. Hit it. Go. Hit it. Go. Good effort. Look good. This will be a massive massive par. Yes. It’s been an enjoyable nine, I tell you that. Not for me. I’ve hit the ball vomit. Scores after nine. I’m one under the level of power and I’m a good three over at that 10th hole. Looks like an absolute brute. Doesn’t look like a brute. It is a brute. Let’s keep doing what we’re doing. Bit Healey should be fine. Hole 10 three over. That was some golf. Two good golf shots. That was just both said what we were going to do as well, which makes it even better. Call the shot and we both pulled it off. Executed. Classy hole here with the water feature too. This is the one we seen last night when we were driving in. It is actually. This was That’s where you were looking to go for a we romantic walk, wasn’t it? I sort of like not really into that stuff, you know. You know what I mean? But it’s what you’re into it. Have a good chance here for a birdie. Tough hole to get back to two over. Respectable enough score on this monster of a golf course. So inside right edge. I can hold them for a par, but I can’t hold them for birdies. Super. That’s a class birdie. Two under par. Oh, things are things are looking good. Donnie will I’m coming for you. Par five. Straight in front of you. Straight down the middle. Long what is it? Well, suppose reasonably long five 30. Yeah, it’s a good strike there. Should be short of them. Bit knacky, but straight down the middle again. There’s a stream in front of the green. So, I’m just going to hit a forearm down there and leave myself like a 90 yard wedge shot on. Yeah, just get something down there. Leave myself a wedge in. Obviously, that’s stream up along the front of the green. That’s your best strike today, right? 102 into that slight breeze. I’m going to hit a 54. Try and land this past the flag cuz so it should suck back till it draw 96 left into the breeze. We’re on the birdie hunt. Yep. Come back. Great shot. We really, really, really need to start rolling these in fast. Running out of holes. My ping so bad. Oh my god. What is that? Did you hit that pin? So, we’re I’m literally further away than I started. Had a good chance of a birdie. Now I’m struggling to make a par. Get in. No words. I’m very cautious after watching Dwayne’s there. So, this is going to slide a good bit from the right. This is to get the three under brick. Get it. Yes. This is some round of golf. Some round of golf. Right. Here we go. 13th hole. This looks like a very a very good hole. dog leg round to the left. Three bunkers here in the distance. Probably going to be aiming at the left one is is the line here. So leaked it. Miss that bunker. Please please. Yeah, that’s fine. Just left it. a bit knacky. I’m very cautious here not to get a sugar rush. No, not to eat with my right hand because there was we incident earlier. So Timmy was Timmy had his ball into the bunker and then he lifted the rake after and the ducks had literally number two a number two all over the rack and he got it on his hand. Hand is clumped yet. Another short par4 here. 205 the flag. Let’s get something on this green and give myself a decent look at birdie. It’s getting a we bit frustrating now. You had a decent look in the last one and then ended up on a decent par. Oh, what a horrible bounce. We’re in no danger. 197 I think it’s going to fly out of here a wee bit. Pins in the left. So I’m going to be aiming right edge of the green and try and trap draw it in to the flag to try and get a we bit more distance out of this seven iron. Draw. Oh, licked it out to the right. Yeah, it’s a per shot. This requires a wee bit of magician. sitting sitting nicely. Need to go high though to try and stop it going straight onto the down slope. Let’s just kind of make or break this shot. Sit. Sit. Sit. Get in. Oh, sit. Flew it. Flew it far too much. Go. Go. Making a mess of this sweet chipper. Probably the biggest putt of the round to date. 5 ft to tidy up here for a bogey. Yeah. Get in. Keep some sort of momentum going. Anyway, that I just tidy this up for par. Well done. Par 3 207 long hole again. Anywhere on this green is a is a great shot. That’s beautiful. Dwayne’s a clash shot that in there. I’ve got one more though. Four iron 5 yards right at the pin and try and draw it back in. Hold. Hold. Yeah, that’s good. I did back back left. This is a lengthy one down the hill. A lot of undulation in this green camera probably doesn’t do it justice. I was going to mark that there. It would have been a shot penalty, but I straight downhill here. This is This is a lag putt if I’ve ever seen one. Get try and get out of here with a par. Go on. Go on. Go on. Oh, what an effort. Great effort. Woo. It looked good for a while. Super happy that three. This is slick. Very fast slider down the hill. An absolute lag putt break. Oh my god. That just sums it up, doesn’t it? Oh my god. How how did that not drop? Two under through 14. Normal train of thought here would be, you know, par your way in. Two under is a good score. But not today, right? I want to make two more birdies. Par five here. 15th. Ripped. Yeah, that’s good. Few bunkers in the left. I’m just going to try and peel one off them. Left bunkers far away finder. Best of today 270 downhill 7wood. This is going to be this needs full full throttle. Oh, he’s went at it. And I tell you, right at it. Go. Oh, I couldn’t have hit that any better. Short. Short. Such a cool entrance to this green. There’s about 40,000 bunkers there protecting it. But you know what I’m going to do? I’m going to pretend that I’m playing the challenger event next week. The green is surrounded. Big crowd. This thing here is going to come down like a butterfly of a sore feet into about 2 feet and the crowd is just going to go absolutely wild. Sounds good, doesn’t it? That was just like a poem. Music to my ears. Let’s see if I can back it up. They don’t hit them like that in the challenge to right out of the hill. Toughest shot in golf. That’s what they say about this one. 50 yards. Come on. No. Fed it. Go. Oh, it’s all right. Go. It’s all right. It’s worked out. This is crucial to get this close. Get a birdie. Get back to two over. That’s it. Thought it played a lot better than what it was. Thought the wind plipped really nicely there, but it just released on down. So that tells me that there’s going to be a wee bit of break in this from the right. Come on, Timmy. This is a massive putt. Get in. Give it a go. I’m bound to hold one of these sooner rather than later. My putting is usually my strong part of my game, but just today nothing nothing is going in. Here we go. Another hose ticked off. Power there. Remain two under power. This requires a golf shot. Five iron here. Just going to commit to this. I have absolutely flushed that. Oh my god. Go in the hole. Please get in. Oh my god. Golf shot. Absolute golf shot. Come on. Last shot of the day. I will absolutely take that. Please be close. I have such bad eyesight. Oh, there’s one at the back there. That’s you, but that’s fine. No. Oh, no. But that’s me short. That’s you pass the player. All right. I thought there was one up on the bank here in the No, no, that’s you just pass the sweating there. I don’t want to downplay the score, but I’ve had absolutely pristine conditions here that night. Yeah, it’s perfect scoring conditions. Look where that pitched. Probably one about 7 ft beyond the flag. Right over the top of it, too. Didn’t get the spin, though. Get it. Come on. What a What a round you are having. It’s not over yet. Unbelievable. It is not over yet. Don’t think I’ve held anything today. Only a long putt for a par. Seems like a tough enough driving hole, but like we’ve been doing all day, committing to golf shots. [Music] That’s left. There’s no danger though. It’s absolutely perfect. Well, couldn’t really talk too much over them t-shirts. Dwayne had a we fan come up to him there. That’s my I think that’s the first time I’ve ever seen an autograph. Thought I might have creeped into the roof, but there’s a lot of room here to the left. This looks like an amazing hole. Green sitting up on like a little bowl. Pins in the left. Do I want to be going at it? Tell you what, we’re going right at the rod with an eight iron. 172 go. Bunker water. Don’t know. I don’t know. T Oh. Going to hit a hard wedge straight at it. It’s phenomenal. So good. We were nervy there coming up to the green. Thought it was in the water, but it’s in the bunker, but it’s just not sitting well. It plugged plugged in the bunker here up against the lip. Oh, I’d be doing well to kind of get this out. Oh, it’s deep. It’s plug deep. Just need to pick it straight up into the back of the ball. Hope and pray that this gets out onto that green. What a shot. Sit. Sit. It’s a good result from there. 15 ft. Don’t know how many putts, many birdie putts this range I’ve had today and I haven’t made one. So, I’m not even going to talk rubbish. I’m just going to go up and hit it straight in the middle. Story of the day. There’s been a few big ones today, few really big momentum building putts, and this is the exact same. If this could go in, an absolute result. 15 feet down the hill. I think it’s going to break from a slight bit from the right. God. Woo. Three under with one hole to play. What was What was Donnie Willis course record? Donnie was two. Timmy’s three. Donnie boy, come on. Last hole. Unbelievable golf course. Pity about the golf from me. Timmy’s played unbelievable golf today. A joy and a privilege to watch. Right. So, par four. Not long. Straight out the bunkers. Try and peel one off. Try and finish on a high. Finish with a birdie. That’s perfect. Okay guys, here we go. 18th hole. Dwayne’s had a lovely T- shot down there. I’m just going to follow him. Probably aim a bit more left and Dwayne because the water kicks in the right. So bity. Don’t know. In the fescue as the Yanks say. 240 left. Big big distance in to this hole. I know it’s into the wind, but 240. Sort of get something coming in medium height and bump it and let it just kind of roll out to the hole. But if I leave myself 10 ft again, it’s a good shot. I fancy my chances making the par. Oh, what a kick. What was that? There’s a tricky tricky shot as well. I’m going to just try and wee bit of loft. Try and get her, as Timmy says, try and get her land with butterfly with sore feet. Try and finish off here with a respectable score considering this is for a par to shoot 69. I think it’s a bar 72. 693 under par. Dwayne, I I’ll cut you a deal here.
