Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, and a very warm welcome to the prize presentation for the 2025 AIG Women’s Open. What an incredibly special week it has been here at Royal Pall as we witness the biggest women’s sporting event ever held in Wales. I think that deserves a round of applause. You, the fans, have been absolutely fantastic, bringing the energy and the passion as we hoped you would. And we have seen some truly thrilling golf. But before we honor our champion, ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to welcome the future of our game. Please, if you will, give a warm welcome to representatives of the Welsh Junior Club of the Year, Holly Miles and Oliver Jones from Lan Trescent and Ponty Clean as they deliver the AIG Women’s Open Trophy and the Smith Salva. Fabulous job, Holly and Oliver. Thank you so much indeed. The future of our game. Now, ladies and gentlemen, to formally begin our proceedings, please welcome the chairman of the RNA Open Championships Committee, John Clark Eborth Powell. Welcome to Pth Call. What a wonderful golf course. A fantastic links set against the backdrop of the beautiful Welsh coastline. So, thank you to the members of Royal Porc for allowing us to use your wonderful course. And thank you to Ian Kinley and his Greens team for presenting it in such magnificent condition. Looking around, you can see the effort that goes into making this championship happen. efforts undertaken by a huge number of people including an army of volunteers. My thanks go to all of you. I’d particularly like to mention Zoe and Victoria from the RNA who’ve done so much to make the festival village work. I hope many of you have been able to visit it. Just hearing the laughter from the kids undertaking the various activities has made all the hard work worthwhile. This championship could not take place without the continuing commitment of our sponsors and partners, particularly AIG, who’ve been our title partner for the last seven years. Their commitment to working with the RNA to develop and support women’s golf has been invaluable. So, thank you, AIG. And my final thanks are to you, the fans, who’ve turned out in your thousands to cheer the players. I know they’ve really appreciated your support and the warm Welsh welcome that they’ve received. Those players have thrilled us with some superb golf in often testing conditions. And they’ve done it with a smile on their faces and a willingness to engage with their fans, particularly the young ones. Ladies, you’re a credit to the game of golf. To Ader Sullivan, the deputy chair of the RNA’s Open Championship Committee, who present the Smith Salva to the leading amateur, and to Charlie Fry of AIG, who will present the AIG Women’s Open Trophy. With a score of 284, the leading amateur and winner of the Smith Salva, Paula Martan San Pedro, And with a score of 277, the winner of the gold medal and the 2025 AIG Women’s Open Champion, Miu Yamashta. Heat. Heat. [Applause] Miu, many, many congratulations. I’m excited to hear your thoughts through our translator, Louisie Meadows. You were 24 just yesterday. Happy birthday by the way. But you this is a very special birthday present for you. I know you have dreamt about this moment since you were a little kid. How incredible does it feel to be standing here as the AIG Women’s Open champion? [Music] To win such a historic tournament in front of all these amazing fans is such an incredible feeling. And to have my family around me, to have so much support from everyone here, it’s just been amazing. And to be part of such a moment in history is something very, very special. Welld deserved. And I know it’s an emotional moment for you as well. Your level of composure out there was truly outstanding. A difficult day, a tough test of a golf course, and a worldclass field. How were you able to keep so calm and composed under that pressure? Yeah, it was obviously the course is set up very difficult but also set up in brilliant condition and just the amount of people that were supporting the amount of fans that I had around me today just really push me towards the victory and this is for them as well. Well said mu thank you just finally your family your friends all the fans here everybody who made this championship possible what final thanks would you like to say Fore! Foreign! Foreign! all the fans that came here today, everyone who watched on TV around the world, uh my family of course. I’d like to just thank everyone involved in this tournament. uh being my first win as well is something that’s very special and to celebrate with everyone is just an amazing feeling. Thank you.
