Hey golfers, I’m Drew Mold, the second swing golfer here in the tour in Vin at Second Swing at Minnetonka with a couple special guests. We have Bella Maui and Reese McCaulay. And this is going to be a fun little challenge here. So, we set something up. This is going to be a little goofy. They’re going to hit each other’s irons and wedges for a little Trackman combine competition. Uh, I know you guys, uh, Bella, you guys do this a lot at like in practicing at the facility at school, kind of these combine, uh, competitions. What do you think you’re going to see now here? This is obviously you’re hitting Reese’s clubs. It’s going to be very different for you. Yeah. Well, you’re right. We do these combines and these tests a lot, but what’s interesting is it’s it’s very it’s hard enough with your own clubs, so this will be really interesting to do it with her clubs and her with mine. We have really different irons and very different kinds of swings. So, um I think it’ll be interesting to see, especially just how picky it is with picking up yardages, but we’ll see. It’ll be fun. Yeah. So, the way the combine thing works is basically it’s going to give you a random we we picked 90 to 145 yards and that anywhere in that range, you can get a number and you’re going to have to pick, you know, a club of your sisters and hit at that distance. Ree, now as we get started, you’re going to hit first. You’ve got Bella’s I don’t even know what club that is, but I know you your set is P790s. fiber regular flex shafts. Very different than wedge. So, first shot 101 yards. What are you What are you setting up here with, Reese? All right. I’m setting up here with Bella’s P790 gap wedge. It’s feeling quite different from mine. Okay. It’s pretty light. This could be fascinating. It’s a It’s a good club. It’s a good club, but I love There’s a reason that we get fitted. Yeah, she’s Yeah, that there is gonna There is some good reason to get fit. We’ll see you today hopefully. All right. Well, okay. Well, pretty good first shot. I’d say maybe we should switch clubs. Maybe like that actually had some back spin. Yeah, that is awesome. So, cuz the distance was 101 yards. I put your club in my bag or in your bag. Oh, that is funny. Yeah. So, the first shot she hit it 101 yards and the distance that she was assigned was 101 yards. So it was just a little bit. Yeah, that’s pretty solid. Seven feet away on the first one. So now you got 125 yards for the club. You grab this one. This Yes. 125. I’m doing a nine iron because my uh this is probably like in between pitching wedge and nine iron for me. So great. Thinking it might go club up a few yards. Yeah. Just because it’s like lighter. The shaft is different compared to mine. Oh, that was crushed. I think I liked that actually. That was good. Pretty good so far. That’s pretty good for two swings with your That’s a better score than my uncle. I’m thinking it’s going to be bad, but like this has actually been pretty good so far. Yeah, two two really good ones so far for Reese. 131. I’m going to stick with the nine iron because I think I did just hit your 131. Yeah, I think I can hit it a little harder in the middle carry. For the viewers watching, this is based off carry, too. Yes. So score there. So track spits out a score with their formula based on how far it is weigh and everything. So little thin. I don’t think I like that one. That kind of was maybe a shank, but No, it was not a shank. Not bad though. It’s not a shank. Still only 30 seconds. Still pretty good. It was a good shake. So for you guys when you do these competitions that there’s a score there on the bottom. Yeah. What is like a good average that you’re going for? So, for us, it kind of just depends on exact distance, but I’d say anything over 80 is pretty solid. Like very solid. Okay. And um you might want to even get a little pickier with um if we’re being if we’re being really picky Yeah. with wedges. Um but anything like if you’re getting above 90, I mean, you’re probably hitting it within like 10 ft at least. Like on even on far shots, like it’s% it’s almost kind of like on the, you know, the grading scale. A B C D. Yes. We always say like we always say 80s is like very good though. Like I would say 80 minus like 80 is still very good. Yes. Yeah. Exactly. Like you’re you probably could still be making birdies with 80. For sure. For sure. Yeah. Once it gets to like 60 70 it’s a little tough. 118 I’m doing the pitching wedge. Okay. It’s tough too to do these at like what’s your carry with with with pitching wedge? Like well normally it’s like 100. It is like 100 yards, but like I don’t know what it’s going to be like with yours. Yeah. Okay. It is kind of interesting doing these two cuz normally we’ll try to get like, you know, a 90 90 score, 80 score, something like that. But if you have one bad shot, it really can throw it off. So sometimes it takes us a bit to get these done, right? Oh, yeah. Okay, I think we need to switch clubs. She’s so good. This is uh Yeah, this is just a I had in my in my mind too on another day to go out and and do something like this actually on the golf course, but she might just be it might be no different for her. I don’t know. Perfect. This is why you hit them so accurately 110. You going up a club? Um yes, I will do I will definitely pitching wedge for this one. She’s at 88 for an average right now. That’s a very good average. I take that with my own clubs. Oh. All right. Brings the score back down. Just went up. We’re good. Looks like we got a few more to hit here. But what do you what do you would you say like what do you think about them? Yeah. What would you say is a big difference? My gap wedge goes um goes about like 92 91 carry and then the other one’s 104. So it’s a little in between. Um I think I’ll try to step on a 54 for this one. No. Reese, what are you noticing in difference? Like in the feel the club like feel like is I’m sure those are probably a lot lighter than yours. Yes, they’re a lot lighter. Yeah. Um, yeah, I actually feel like I can just like swing softer and it’s and it’s just Yeah, it’s very easy to hit actually. But yes, the shafts feel a lot different. Um, so you feel like the soft Yeah, it feels like I can soft Yeah, like I can just swing soft and it’s totally fine. So yeah, it’s actually kind of nice. It’s like it’s meant for a different swing speed or something. Yeah, they are. They are. Yeah. Yes. the 95 yards. Back to definitely back to gap wedge because last time it did not work. So like your range sessions take a minute. Dear goodness, I like the chirping from Okay, that was better. Yeah, we don’t need the chirping. That was really good though. Yes, we’re sitting at 81.4 with two shots to go with the average score. That’s going to be our measurement for I’m going to stick with the gap wedge again and maybe do like a 3/4 swing. Okay. Because now we’re starting to finesse the swing a little bit. She’s gotten used to the clubs enough where she starting to get used to the club. I actually like these clubs. They’re good. Just a little bit too far. Yeah, it’s like every shot, by the way, is right in between there. Every shot is right on line. It’s just a distance thing for you guys right now. All right, last one here. Shot 10. All right, last shot. Pitching wedge or Yes, I’m hitting a pitching wedge here. Really good. Ended at 80 on the dot, I think. 80.0. Let’s see. Minus. I’ll take good. Yeah, better than some of your Trackman scores with your own club. Yeah, honestly, I kind of like our club. 80.6 was the average score there. So, that’s the number to beat. Average distance from the pin was 19 ft. That’s pretty good for all those distances. Yeah. Um again, these were Bella’s club P790s, the steel fiber shafts, regular flex. That’s going to be very different. So, we’ll let uh they’re good clubs, but very different. We’ll let we’ll let Bella get ready here, but that’s that’s a big that’s a high bar to reach. I’m Yeah. Yeah. How are you feeling about this? I do feel like a little nervous stepping up to this. I won’t The pressure is coming on. Yep. Some harder clubs. Got to increase the swing speed. Yep. We’ll see. You learn quick with it with the switch of the clubs. So, we’ll see. Hopefully, I can do that, too. Yeah. Okay. So, these are Reese’s clubs. They’re definitely a lot heavier. The JPX Mazunos. Okay. I’m going pitching wedge. We will see. I honestly have no idea how far this is going to go, but it’s feeling like it wants to go right off the face. Really? Well, that was not good. All right. Did it just go right or was it the wrong distance? Kind of. Kind of both. Kind of both. All right. 102. 102. What are you thinking? I mean, I’m thinking the same club. I just need to hit it further, maybe. It feels so weird. I feel like I can’t swing it hard enough. So, yeah. Cuz I think the big difference is going to be it’s probably going to be more difficult for her to go from something light to heavy thing. Yeah. I can always go from heavier to to light. Yeah. Like I feel like I feel like I’m needing to like swing really fast. I mean, look, that was a good shot. It was a You know, you’re score of 88 there. I’d take Yeah, that was good. Okay, that’s interesting cuz I feel like I had to swing slow. Oh, that’s a really good one. Yes. So far your average it actually is going less one point over my like it actually is going less far for me than like my club. Yeah. And that’s something you’re you’re you kind of have to adjust to on the fly here probably. Yeah. Yeah. I kind I’m trying here again. That’s why we have our own fed. So that is a great point. I mean, yeah, for her, she’s had has had said a couple times, even she’s hitting some good shots, but she’s even feeling like she’s has you have to work a lot harder just to get the swing through with these, you know, shaft, steel shafts. I felt like initially off the face it like wants to go right too, which is probably just me not being able to like get it through fast enough. It could also be Yeah, it could also be that. And then, you know, the heavier equipment is is you’re not able to, you know, turn it over as much on your What do we think? Seven iron maybe or but it might not go as far. That’s Yeah, I think seven is probably pretty. But I don’t know if it’s going to go as far though. That’s the issue. Cuz that’d probably be my eight eight iron. Okay, I’ll take it. I think you’ve adjusted pretty well. She’s doing pretty solidly. It’s 84.4. Yeah, I’ll take it. So, we’re what? Halfway through the What do you think? So, this is a nine because again, it’s just not like that one I actually really stepped on. Yeah. Like it feels like a little weird. This one I’m just going to swing normal. Oh, that was a little short. Okay. Okay. It’s fine. Yeah. This is going to be this is going to come down to the wire here. I think this is Don’t be saying that, Drew. Scott, I am swinging a lot faster than you. You’re like, I’m going faster. You were taking your time. Got to have the commentary. Should I pick on you for pace play? You’re fast. No, I’m actually really fast. Yeah, we more to just chirp each other. Okay, fair enough. Even non- golf things. Oh. Oh, it’s getting closer. Wow, that was Oh, I I’m watching that that number. Yeah, that’s that did not happen. So, yeah, Bella, three shots left. You are about a point a point behind. That’s not for the average. You can’t have your younger sister beat you in accuracy. Yeah, that would be that’d be crazy. Okay. Okay. Yeah. A little more swing speed with that one. Oh yeah, it’s a good one. We’re bringing it up. What club was that one? One more. That was an eight iron. Eight iron. Okay. That was an eight. Okay. Wow. This is really close right now. Yes, actually. You guys are stressing me out. What are you thinking for this one? M 54. You’re used to playing pressure golf, though. I’m kidding. This is the same thing. Yeah, I’m thinking pigeon. Anwa Palmer C. Yeah, I know. Track man with Re. Pretty much all the same thing, right? From 93 yards. Oh, 93 to 8 ft. All right. See how it wants to kind of go right, though? Like my clubs like I definitely hit these draws like that like wants to start out right. Yeah. Yeah. That’s probably just due to the the weight of the clubs being a little heavier and you you have to work harder to square them up a little bit. 99 yards. Here we go. Solid shot. Will we’ll win it for her. She’s a couple points ahead right now. Oh wow. That’s a good That’s a good She hits it to 100. Wow. He started out rough and came back came back strong. Yeah. So here’s our differences between the two if we wanted to check. So 80.6 for Ree, 84.1 for Bella. The total between the two of you was 82.3. That’s really good. That’s the average between the both of you. Um so Bella, just just hitting Reese’s clubs. Your thoughts on just how those felt? How um different that was for you? Yeah, I think the main difference I actually love like your the look of your clubs. Like I feel like we had really similar looks like Yeah. I don’t know. But um and that’s like always a huge thing for golfers, I think. But the biggest difference was like our shaft. I think it’s it was a lot heavier. It was harder for me to I felt like I needed to swing harder on the like swing faster in order to get through and not go right. Um, and also just it also like it’s funny because obviously like you like it should be going further with like like people would think normally that it would go further with an iron that’s heavier like stiffer shaft but clearly like it doesn’t when your swing speed doesn’t match. So it just like really shows you how like in order to optimize your clubs like sometimes it might be a lighter shaft like in order to compromise your distance but it just depends on the person. For sure. Yeah. Yeah. Is that you mean and for you it was almost easier in a way. It felt like it I mean just watching it felt like it was somewhat easy to go from heavier to lighter again. Still feels probably very different for you Ree though. It definitely did. Yeah. It was a lot more It was a lot easier. I just had to swing softer and then just kind of trust it. Yeah. A little different. I will say the numbers that I’m seeing here in terms of we’ve got average of 17 feet and 19 feet. Those are both phenomenal. The scores are really good. So you guys have talent. Um, that’s not that was never in question, but I now I’m curious, you know, you know, maybe some one time we’ll do one of these where you guys actually have your own clubs, see how dialed in you get, but this was really good and that uh also you guys were talking throughout shows the importance of getting fit. I know you guys work with Aaron Roth all the time to get yourselves dialed in. Um, we’ll uh this was good. This was a fun one. I I I encourage the viewers to maybe drop their the scores they think they would get um with their own clubs and then if they were to swap out, I think it’d be a bit of a struggle, but um Bella and Ree, thanks for joining. This was a lot of fun. Thank you. Thank you. So fun. Good match, bro. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music]
