I want to clear up some confusion in alignment in golf and whether we should align our body first or whether we should align the club face first. I want to show you the biggest mistake that I see my beginning golfers and intermediate golfers make and I want to show you how to aim properly. And the answer to the question is is we have to aim the club face first and then set our body to the club face to make sure that our body is parallel to our target line. The biggest mistake that I see golfers make is they come in here and they get set up and they want to put their feet down first. They use their head and they look to where they’re aiming thinking they’re getting their body aimed at the target. Now, let me show you this here. And this is a nice little beginner move I see all the time. They’ll even take their golf club and kind of put it across their waist. And I feel right now that I’ve got this golf club aimed right at the target. Okay. So, I’m going to put this club down on the ground by my feet. And let me show you a closeup of what the problem is. So, here’s the problem. This is my target line. This stick right here is aimed at the target where I want to go. This golf club is now the one I put down across my toes. And you can see how much farther to the right it’s aimed than the target line. So, if I have my body aimed like this and I get in there and get set up to the ball, I am now aimed well to the right of my target. Our body is not supposed to be aimed at the target. Our body should be aimed parallel left of the target for right-handers or parallel right of the target for left-handers. The target line is the most important line. We have to make sure that we establish the target line first. Okay? That’s why the golf club has to be aimed first. So, what we need to do is we need to learn to get in here and put the club face down, the club head down, and use our eyes and aim the club face at our target. A lot of people will use an intermediate target just out in front of the ball to help them. But we have to learn to get our bo our club face aimed first and then set our body parallel to that target line, which is now going to get my body aimed parallel left of the target. Let me show you a little footwork routine here that will help you do this. So, it’s a little four-step routine. We take our right foot and bring our right foot in and put the club face down. This is fitting my body to the golf club, finding the distance I need to be away from the ball. I mean at the Yeah, away from the ball. Now I’m using my eyes to make sure that my club face is aimed where I want it to go. Then I’m going to set my left foot down and widen my stance with my right foot, making sure that the line across my toes, excuse me, I didn’t mean to move that, is parallel to my target line. So again, I’ll go through it a little bit quicker. Right foot, then club face, checking to make sure it’s aimed properly. Left foot, right foot, making sure that the line across my toes is parallel to that target line. Now, when you learn this little routine and it becomes part of your pre-shot routine, it is going to help you to make sure that you are aiming your club face where you think you have it aimed, getting your body set up properly so that when you make a good swing, you’re going to hit that golf ball more at your target and lower your scores. So, let’s end the confusion. Learn to aim that club face first. set your body to the golf club to ensure that your body is aimed parallel to that target line. Let’s hit more targets. Let’s hit more greens and let’s lower our scores. Listen, if you like this video, you think this was helpful, hit that subscribe button for me. It’s what I do on this channel.
