It’s a tight lie, don’t you think? Who? Me? Yeah, it is. Can you show me how to hit it a little bit better? Welcome back to 15-minute golf drills. Today, we’re going to hit some tight lie chips. We’re going to use this piece of dirt to help us. I know we’ve all seen it online that when you get a tight lie, get the toe down, get the weight forward, blah blah blah. But this is how you actually do it. For starters, when we’re talking about tow down, it really means two things. Number one, and I’m not kidding, it’s basically like taking your thumbs and pointing them at the ground. That’s how you get the toe of the wedge on the ground. And number two, you get closer to the ball. Do those two things, toes down. If you want to get super particular to make sure you’re in the correct place when you’re doing that, open up the face a few degrees to make sure that the balance is the only thing sitting on the ground and not the leading edge. So, if here’s my normal chipping stance, I’m going to step in tighter to the ball and point my thumbs down. That’s it. Second thing that we’re going to make sure happens is at all times, my weight is moving forwards. Doesn’t have to be crazy and offbalance. It’s just moving forwards. So, practically from takeaway, I’m moving towards a target at all times. Make sure the bottom of the arcs forwards. Gives you a better chance of getting a clean strike. And number three, for a little bit of added safety, we’re going to put a little cut stroke on it. All that means is I’m going to take the wedge a little bit more outside on the way back and slide it out to in on the way down. It goes this way instead of straight back straight through or even more a little bit inside. Just throw the club head out there and bring it in. Put them all together. We can hit chips off of this stuff. We grab a ball and we place it in our lovely dirt lie. All we’re going to do is those three things. We got like a 25, 30 yard chip, something like that, or pitch if you want to get technical. So, from my normal chipping or pitching stance, I’m going to move in a little bit. I’ll spin the face slightly open. Point my thumbs at the ground. As I take it out, make sure my weight goes forward. Oh, look, there’s a bunny. Should get something that looks like this. I take it. And if we go over here to normal grass, yes, the tight li style of chipping will also work here. Take that one, too. Make sure to like, comment, follow, share for more.
